Summary: Almost
Review: This had all the elements of a great read ... but lacked something in the way of satisfaction. Not sure what it was. Also, sorry, I have to say giving the IMPRESSION that the villian Niel had any power over anyone was stupid - he was just a knight status-wise, they were all listening to him!?! aurg!
Unbelievable. (not a good bad guy)

Beyond that I won't complain. This author has alot of promise. I'll look to reading something by her in the future; when she has honed her skill.

Summary: 5 Stars are not enough!
Review: This was an extremely good medieval tale of two people who must overcome each of their own struggles. Gunnar Rutledge's life so far was spent in waiting for the day he could seek the vengeance he deemed was his over the man who nearly took his life and family from him.

Raina d'Bussy, his enemies daughter, could not believe her father capable of the horrors Gunnar blamed him for. Captured and held hostage in an effort to force her father to meet him on the field of battle, Gunnar would become the hostage, the hostage of his heart and the love he felt for his captive. Raina would have to question just where her loyalties would lie when faced with the unbearable truths of her heritage.

This is a wonderfully rich tale told amidst the very brutal and bloody days of the early 1100's of England. Rich in history and adventure. Super exciting read for this authors maiden novel.

Summary: Wonderful!
Review: This was one of the best books I have read. I am so impressed by Tina St. John. I have both of her books and I am ordering White Lion's Lady today. I couldn't put it down it kept me interested from start to finish.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Compelling story... Believable characters... A great read!
Review: When I first started the story, I couldn't believe that Gunnar would ever "fall for" Raina. I could sympathize with him and his need for revenge. Her viewpoint was understandable as well.

Nevertheless, Ms. St. John pulled it off! A I read further, it seemed entirely plausible that the initial lust both characters felt would turn to trust and eventually to love. I was impressed! Love does indeed conquer all.

If you like historical romance, you really should try this one! A fantastic first novel! I look forward to future works from Ms. St. John.

Summary: Good first effort.
Review: While I enjoyed this book and it's characters, I was left with the feeling that there was something missing. Maybe it's because I had just finished reading Gaelen Foley's terrific Asencion trilogy - a tough act to follow - and maybe it suffered by comparison.

While I liked both Gunnar and Raina's characters and the story was well put together, it lacked some spark. The romance seemed to develop too slowly (they don't share a real kiss until more than halfway through the book!) and then it seemed suddenly they were in love. And though I loved the scenes where Gunnar and Raina flirt and move the romance forward, I found myself wanting to skim past scenes without them. And for a guy who has worked so hard to feel no emotion whatsoever for the past 13 years, he seems to feel them for Raina immediately. But I guess I quibble. Overall it was an enjoyable read. I reserve 5 stars for books that I adore and will read and re-read over again. It's too soon to tell, but I'm not sure I'd read this one again, though I will read other books by this author.

Summary: A real page-turner!
Review: With two small children vying for my attention, it often takes me several sittings to enjoy a good, long historical romance. Not this time. I stayed up all night just to be sure I could finish right away!

Gunnar and Raina are wonderfully drawn characters--Gunnar's violent past contrasts nicely with Raina's soft and gentle demeanor. Though it's obvious from the beginning that Raina is the woman destined to heal Gunnar's heart, I could tell it would be a rocky, fast-paced ride to get there. The dialogue between the two is snappy and fun, and the story twists are anything but predictable.

It's hard to believe that this is a first novel--it lives up to the back cover teaser--and more!! I can't wait to read LADY OF VALOR to see how Tina St. John tops this!
