Summary: what a disappointment!
Review: Unfortunately, I, too, am having trouble understanding the glowing customer reviews. This is my third Elizabeth Bevarly book, and overall I consider myself a fan of hers. I think her writing is intelligent, witty, and thoughtful. But HER MAN FRIDAY was a real disappointment. The relationship between Leo and Lily was too superficial even by romance novel standards. Literally, it seemed like they barely interacted throughout the story--only a handful of conversations, and most of them made up of small talk--and then out of nowhere Leo thinks about "their love." And, even that I would've been able to run with more if there'd been a lot of sizzling chemistry, but Lily's character was so formal and dull that I wasn't even buying the sex part of the story. The secondary romance between Schuyler and Caroline was absurd, tedious, and pointless (not to mention tied on all those counts with Schuyler's relationship with his teenage daughter Chloe, who he'd never felt anything for, and had steadfastly ignored without any qualms, until out of nowhere...). But, I'd give HER MAN FRIDAY 2 stars (instead of 1) because Bevarly's articulate, subtlely witty narration helped redeem the book slightly.... :)

Summary: She topped Pendleton
Review: Yep, this one's a keeper. I quite enjoyed My Man Pendleton and added Bevarly to my personal author list. This one's a hoot, the underlaying theme is judging by appearance - everyone's at fault.
