Summary: This story chills the soul and keeps your pages turning.
Review: Searching for a Koontz novel that would keep me busy during our school testing week, I came across Shadowfires. This book taunted me when I would test, so the tests were a breeze. I just had to finish them so I could find out what would happen next.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Shadowfires
Review: Shadowfires was the first Koontz book I ever read, and by far the best! It's gotten me hooked on reading Koontz's novels

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Why do I keep coming back?
Review: The more and more Koontz books I read the more and more I keep thinking why do I go back? This book just finalized it, I might never read another Koontz book again.

Ok now this isn't a book so bad you shouldn't read it, but there are definately better Koontz books to read and better sci-fi horror books as well. His plot while throwing a few twists and turns is so predictable its almost laughable. I had the whole thing worked out within the first 3 chapters or so. And all his books of late seem to be of the same type, some secret gov't organization is trying to rule the world or do something extremely deviant to its citizens.

His characters are so extreme in their cookie cutter personalities its almost laughable. Now there are a few guinine moments in the book between people but for the most part I didn't care if these people lived or died. Not one of the characters were spectacular or even interesting. And none of them seem to be like real people, they're always perfect and never make mistakes. And they always seem to have some great gift at appreciating life in a special way. ANd the main villian Eric was just too evil. I mean it was way over the top. In fact that entire mood describes the book, over the top. Characters, plot, and just about everything.

So if you've never read Dean Koontz pick this book up you might like it and move onto better Koontz books. Otherwise stay the hell away from this book unless you simply want to waste a few days of your life (and remember you can't ever get that time back!)

Summary: Actually 3 1/2 stars....A gripping read from pge 1
Review: This book has a lot of DK staples:

Love triangles (not really a staple, but always a romance factor)

Governement secrets

Scientist obsessed with fountain of youth (most of DK's books contain an element of scientific study)

It all adds up to an interesting brew of suspense and his trademark wittiness and characters just add to it. A fun read not to be overly analyzed. It's the entertainment factor that is important.

Koontz knows how to write a great novel and while some think his books are formulaic, they need to take a refresher creative writing course (if they have ever taken one)!!

First-rate reading; not his best, not his worst, just a great tale.

Summary: Very disappointing although it started out very well
Review: This book lost the plot half way through. The idea was excellent and the first half of the book was very good. It seems that Mr Koontz got bored with it halfway through and couldn't find an appropriate ending. THis could have been a great book like NIGHT CHILLS!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Ach... Dean, you've done better work.
Review: This is a book that I started reading because I didn't happen to have any other Koontz to read (and I had already re-read Dark Rivers this month.)

This book seems to have no voice other than to create tension and disgust. In the right amounts, this can be a very good thing for a horror book. This is not a horror book, this is one that through Dean Koontz' excellent descriptive language, thouroughly disgusted and scared me all the way through.

The problem is that that is not what I wanted. I want suspense yes, and maybe a little disgust here and there, but this book went a little overboard for my taste.

Not one I'd really reccomend.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good, but Koontz has much better.
Review: This is an overall good book if you are a Koontz fan, but if you are looking for a book to really get a feeling of Koontz's writing, go with something else (Watchers or The House of Thunder perhaps). Don't get me wrong, this wasn't a bad book, but it just didn't keep me interested like his other books.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great horror/chase novel.
Review: This is one of my favorite Koontz novels. Nothing will stop famed geneticist Eric Leben from seeking revenge on his ex wife. Not even death! A harrowing, edge of your seat read. I loved it!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Boring!
Review: This is the 4th Koontz that I have read, and needless to say, it was really boring. It kept me interested for about a quarter of the way through it then I had to make myself finish it and then still skipped pages and still didn't miss anything! It was way too long, very disapointing. Two out of four I have liked so far. The Funhouse and The voice in the night were excellent.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One very good book, gorifien'
Review: This is the best book by Dean Koontz I have ever read, I was scared for the characters(and victems) and in turn, I was scared myself. It was so good, I read the first 170 pages on a school night, before a math test! I really like how Dean Koontz describes Eric during his mutations. This book was very good, but I hope no none who has not read it (and who wants to) to read this review. It's a spoiler!
