Rating: Summary: HANDSOME DEVIL more than a romance Review: Melanie George outdid herself on HANDSOME DEVIL. It borders on a mainstream fiction book. The characters have depth, the plot not only contains romance, but lots of "belly holding" humor and the reader is definitely satisfied at the end. I cannot wait for the next book. Ms. George is growing as an author and will be recognized as an important American author of the 21st century. Katkeys, AZ
Rating: Summary: Delightful! Review: Ms. George does it again! Handsome Devil showcases a thorughly beleaguered, completely sexy, undeniable heartthrob of a hero! Her heroine, as usual, takes no guff! And her secondary characters are hilarious. Don't miss the swearing myna bird and the not-so-humble Chinese manservant. I eagerly (and I do mean eagerly) await Ms. George's next books. I was delighted to find out she has TWO more coming this year!
Rating: Summary: Sparks fly -- Recommended Review: Nicholas Sinclair's family has always been accepted in English society due to their wealth, but fathers guard their daughters carefully in the presence of Sinclair men. Given their notorious reputation, little wonder it takes the fire of an Irish lass to win Nicholas' heart and keep his mettle on edge. Further, when he at last encounters the woman bold enough to win his heart, his inebriated state and fierce passion keeps him from realizing he's met his cousin's friend from America. A night of passion together abruptly terminates without proper introductions, leaving him without her true name. Sheridan Delaney, Nicholas' cousin's best friend, presents a freshness and genuineness lacking in the English women of Nicholas acquaintance. With a perchance for mischief and the aid of an aunt and uncle that are equally bent upon discovering trouble, Sheridan finds herself always in a fix despite her well meaning intentions. She just doesn't fit her family's notions, nor society's, of what is proper. When Nicholas arrives at the jail to retrieve his cousin's friend, he realizes she's the beauty of the passion-filled night. She is at once pleased and mortified to face the man who took her virginity. Her fiery temperament and sparkle take Nicholas by storm, and her own heart can't resist this handsome devil. But many conflicts must be resolved before these two can truly yield to their hearts. The majority of the conflict between hero and heroine is self-created as they bicker incessantly due to the underlying passion they share. On one hand, while the dialogue is amusing and arousing, it also becomes wearing for the reader. On the other hand, the antics of the aunt and uncle create humor and tension that keeps the reader in stitches. This character driven tale that spans oceans and cultures does present spirit and pizzazz, resulting in a poignant and humorous read. Recommended.
Rating: Summary: No more brogue, please! Review: The chances of a proper Englishwoman befriending an Irish woman from a shantytown in Boston, thus enabling her to meet a rich hunk in London, is a little far-fetched. Still, that I can forgive. What I can't accept is page after page after boring page of Irish colloquialisms. A tip for new writers--one or two sentences is cute, but after that it's just downright annoying. If this author were a new writer, this book probably would not have been accepted in its current form. Take out the extra space occupied by dialect and the book would have been shorter by at least 50 pages, which would have been a large improvement as well. Take away the reason for my complaints above, and I could have rated this at 4 stars.
Rating: Summary: Highly entertaining!! Review: This book was so much fun to read. I can't remember the last time a story kept me in stitches -- and was also equally steamy. Sheridan is a fiesty as a heroine can get and Nicholas -- well, I only WISH I could find a guy like him. What abuse the poor man takes from the cast of characters in this book. He truly is a Handsome Devil!
Rating: Summary: An Unexpected Treat! Review: This is my first book by Melanie George, but I will say now that it won't be my last. This author has some of the best humor I've ever read and her characters fairly leap off the page. I couldn't put the book down until I had read the last word.
Rating: Summary: A treasure, a triumph, a treat for the heart! Review: This second book in the Sinclair brothers trilogy is tender, witty, and utterly charming. Nicholas puts the "sin" in Sinclair. Pure reading enjoyment. You laugh, you cry, you yearn for more (much more.) The secondary characters -- an eccentric aunt and uncle to a hard-of-hearing butler and a Chinese manservant with great one-liners -- captivate you from the beginning. Can't remember when I enjoyed a book as much. Perhaps it was Damien's story in the first book, Devil May Care, in this not-to-be-missed series. I patiently await the final chapter coming in November; Gray Sinclair's story, The Devil's Due. Ms. George keeps getting better and better. So give yourself a rare treat and read this book. It's very special

Rating: Summary: NOT AS GOOD Review: This story was not nearly as good as Devil May Care by MG. It just doesn't have the heart. It also doesn't have interesting secondary characters like Devil May Care. Maybe the problem is our hero and heroine get sexually involved with each other too quickly. I like a slower build up and a little more seduction. It's an okay read, but buy it used.
Rating: Summary: Great Fun! Review: What fabulous wit! Laugh out loud funny. I saw that style demonstrated in Ms. George's last book, Devil May Care, (Reggie, what a hoot!) and she took her humor another step further in this book. Not only are her characters wonderful (and very original) but her dialogue sparkles -- as well as her narrative! A not-to-be-missed book. Ms. George is a rising star.
