Summary: Funny and Sexy!
Review: I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher and I wanted to share my review. This is the first book by Ms. George I have read, but after reading DEVIL MAY CARE, it certainly will not be my last. Ms. George has a flair for dialogue, characters -- and humor, leaving me laughing at times, crying at others -- and sighing quite contentedly as I read the last page (which has a rather interesting twist, but I can't give it away.) DEVIL MAY CARE is a must read!

Summary: Good book to curl up in front of the fireplace with!
Review: I simply could not put this book down!

My only regret was that the author did not develop the character of Reggie. Reggie - who pretended to be a popinjay throughout the whole story - ended up marrying a girl, and I still cannot fathom why he would act like a peacock just to spite his father. That was not explained anywhere in the book. Was there some deep-seated hatred between the two?

The heroine was fantastic, the hero dark and brooding enough. Though I would have preferred him to have more of a jealous streak.

A good read. I would recommend buying it, and I would definitely look out for more Melanie George's works.

Summary: Sexy and fun
Review: I stayed up late to finish this book and found myself alternately chuckling and crying. Damien is a great hero, very strong and fighting the urge inside him that wants to care. Eden is his perfect match. The dialogue is fresh and witty and the secondary characters are ones I will remember for a long time to come.

Summary: A Sexy, Funny, Not-To-Be-Missed book!
Review: I'm not usually someone who bothers to write a review, but having just finished DEVIL MAY CARE, the laughs and tears and wonderful characters are still lingering and I simply had to let people know how much I enjoyed this book. It had a great blend of passion, humor, real life situations, and a hero and heroine that were truly meant for each other. I'm dying to see how Damien's brothers, Nicholas and Gray get tamed in Ms. George's next two books in the series. Bravo!

Summary: Lots of laugh and sexy hero!!!
Review: In a word, I LOVED this book. Damien was soooo sexy. The character of Reggie was my absolute favorite. This book is going on my keeper shelf!

Summary: Well-developed characters and a scream of a cousin
Review: In the late Victorian period, eighteen-year old Lady Eden has spent the last 6 years in a convent since the death of her parents. Although she wishes to take vows to become a nun, her uncle/guardian refuses her request until she has" lived a little" by having a season. In steps her flamboyant cousin Reggie, who still lives at home (driving his father crazy) and who convinces her that the best way to see real life is through the tutelage of the ton's "devil", Lord Damien Sinclair. "Devil" agrees to the plan and with Reggie's hysterical help, takes Eden to various unsavory locations (brothel, gaming hell), dressed variously as a boy and a member of the demimonde. Meanwhile, Eden is being courted by Devil's archnemesis, Lord Hugh Myddleton, whose father had a long-standing affair with Devil's mother. Hugh appears angelic, but is in fact a sexual predator of young innocents, while Devil, who appears to be an immoral rake, is both less and more than he seems. Devil is not only fighting his attraction to Eden, he is still dealing with grief over his father's death, his mother's inexplicable dislike of her children, and the nearly-bankrupt estate he inherited. Meanwhile, through his emotional connection to Eden, he is able to learn the true motivations for her desire to become a nun. Although there are some curious and unresolved loose ends (as in how Devil's younger brothers appear to have more than enough money when the estate is bankrupt and no mention is made of any enterprises of their own), the book is an engrossing read, greatly enlivened by Cousin Reggie. In fact, my only major caveat is that I wish Ms. George had not "resolved" Reggie by book's end. He was one of the best secondary characters in a romance novel I have read in recent years. How often do we see a flamboyantly homosexual character who is not riven with angst and self-contempt? He was something like Jack in Will and Grace, but with a twist ' I won't spoil the surprise for you! I would have enjoyed seeing him and his romantic troubles in the subsequent books in the series, perhaps ending with a fourth book just about him. Well, maybe Ms. George can kill off Reggie's love and start the cycle again! We live in hope.

Summary: A Keeper!
Review: Just finished Melanie George's, DEVIL MAY CARE, and now know I must read everything this author has written and intends to write. I had stopped reading historicals for awhile since they had gotten so boringly predictable and the characters like cardboard cutouts. But this book was like a splash of cold water in my face. Completely refreshing! I hope July hurries up and rolls around because I can't wait to see what Ms. George has in store for Damien's brother, Nicholas. I can only imagine!

Summary: A Winner!
Review: Just finished my copy of DEVIL MAY CARE by Melanie George and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Damien was a wickedly delicious hero and Eden brought him to heel quite nicely. Reggie and Miss Phipps and Eden "the cat" were hilarious extras to the story and only made me appreciate the book all the more. I'm looking forward to the next two books in the series.

Summary: A devilish guy
Review: Lady Eden Spencer has made up her mind to become a nun, put first she has promised her Mother Superior to see more of the life outside the convent. Her cousin then finds the perfect tutor : Damien Sinclair, also known as the Devil. He's a well-known rake who does his best to live up to his nickname. Eden is convinced that nothing will tempt her to change her mind. Even so, she discovers that life outside the convent has some very interesting aspects.

The story is very entertaining and manages to give you that good feeling inside when reading it. It starts off slowly though, enticing me several times to simply give it up. But, the last half of the book so well written that I'm contemplating on reading more books from this author. Also, the sub characters are impressive. Especially Eden's cousin, Reggie, who has an incredible way with words.

Summary: Too religious to be sexy!
Review: Let me start by saying I liked this book. I certainly didn't love it or became enthralled by it as most reviewers seem to claim. To me the humor was good, especially the dialogues between Reggie and Damian were really hilarious, but otherwise the plot was too contrived. I would also prefer much more, that the revelations about Reggie at the end of the book never took place because it completetely refutes Reggie's character and originality.
The fact that I didn't like at all is the numerous religious arguments appearing in the book. No one seems to mention this fact in their reviews, but if I knew it earlier I would never have bought the book in the first place. I believe they were too many for a romance book and certainly one that claims to have such a hot hero! In accordance to this, the heroine was too good, loving, caring and honest to be true, even for a historical romance where all heroines are always as pure as water. It's the male characters, Damian and Reggie, that keep the story going and the humor floating.
Perhaps, if I hadn't read all those 5 star reviews, I wouldn't feel so disappointed, since it wasn't a bad book anyway but merely an average one.
