Rating: Summary: And Amazon said I'd love it. :/ Review: Amazon used my rating of a Marian Keyes novel to judge my reaction to this one. Boy did they miss the mark. This book was so difficult to get through, but to "give it a chance," I finished it. Okay, so the ending was cute--I wish I would have skipped right to it once the characters had been introduced. The main characters, both male and female, are money hungry scam artists. That's the premise. While they're all deceiving each other, love blossoms. That's the plot. What's left is fluff. I think the book could have been good had the author not tried to 'write like a woman' when his female characters were thinking or talking. I felt like someone was trying too desperately to make me relate to them, and I just couldn't. I couldn't relate to the men either, but that's a given and didn't bother me. The characters were flat and unbelievable. The story dragged on and the entire thing could have been scaled down to a women's magazine short story. And I may have enjoyed a short story version. I'll skip the movie, and recommend skipping the book. The only exception, in both cases, would be long trans-Atlantic airplane flights.
Rating: Summary: A WILD AND FUNNY ESCAPADE! Review: Author Jules Bass is a literary archeologist of the human heart! In Headhunters he digs deep into the heart and turns up a tale of tenderness, wit, longing, and audacious devil-may-care adventure - one that left me laughing and crying and especially amazed at the uncanny insights into the female psyche. Who among us has not flipped through glossy magazines silently wishing the 'beautiful life' pictured there was our own? Mea Culpa! I have! Who among us has not wrestled with the tragi-comdey of love, desire, and the powerful need to connect? Mea Culpa again! This story is a multi-plex of human emotion - one you can read on many levels. On the surface is the turbo-charged action packed comic adventure as the four women inadvertently stir up a scandal in the magic principality of Monaco - but the discerning reader will find so much more. Whatever level you read it on, be forewarned about reading it in public: You WILL laugh out loud!
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable Review: Boring. Too long. Would have made a nice short story. Where was the editor???
Rating: Summary: A VERY SPECIAL FIND. Review: Headhunters is a totally captivating wild romp peopled with wholly original characters who will collectively steal your heart. The wit and style of the piece are second only to the intelligence with which it is written. The author knows how to make words dance on the page. This is a sparkling jewel of a book.
Rating: Summary: Finished out of duty Review: Headhunters made me decide that if a book bores me after the first quarter, put it down--odds are it won't get any better. It was really, really boring. I did read it all, but felt like I had wasted two days doing it. Definitely a one star book.
Rating: Summary: Headhunters Review: I absolutly loved this book! It could be a little confusing at times buy over all it was a fantastic book.I couldn't put it down. It has a suprise ending, which you'll have to think about and sort through to understand, but it just leaves you thinking about this book and how good it is!This is a book for people who like witty but romantic books. This book is for people who like books were the characters live life on the edge.
Rating: Summary: Ugh! Is Bass 16? Review: I can't believe a grown man wrote this book. The worse thing about it was him trying to 'get into the minds' of the female characters and failing miserably. The book was childish, BORING, and unbelievably bad. I only finished it because I was trapped on a plane. Terrible. Run away from this book. Run fast.
Rating: Summary: Irresistably funny! Review: I could not disagree more with the review posted by Anna Mitchell. First of all, I question her credibility as a reviewer given the fact that she has trouble with simple spelling....can she really understand the various 'layers' to Headhunters? Far from simplistic, this story hits the human heart hard and accurately, guising the important questions in a glittering gilded cage of ribald wit and wicked humor. So much of our popular culture cultivates disatisfation for the average woman - she is literally pummeled by advertising, celeb shows, and slick magazines into feeling as if everyone out there is living a 'better life' somehow. 'Everyone' being the rich, the glam slam crowd. Bass' ultimate message is a wonderful one: at the risk of reducing it to the simplistic, this tale dares the reader (male or female) to live life to the fullest - and to understand that there is no jewel or car or material possession, that fame, glamor, and wealth are but tin compared to the shining gold of real happiness and the power of Love. Piercingly perceptive, wildly entertaining - it's no surprise this was snapped up for film adaptation. I'll be the first in line.

Rating: Summary: oh my, a delightful book Review: i highly recommend this book for more than a few chuckles and the hopefulness of romance in a very unexpected way. four women get plunged into their fantasy by taking action and end up in monte carlo. they meet four men and adventure, romance take up residence. this is fast paced and probably could have endured more character development. but it is quick and witty and will leave the reader satisfied.
