Rating: Summary: Terrible--just terrible Review: This book was so bad, I can't even put it into words. It is the worst book I've ever read, and will NEVER pick up another thing by this author. They're MAKING IT A MOVIE?! OH GOD NO!Save your money. Really. It's that bad.
Rating: Summary: Sexist tripe Review: This type of book has been done to death: the three or four female friends on the prowl (for husbands, money or the meaning of life or whatever--take your pick)... The plot is threadbare and the characterizations cardboard... No wonder Hollywood has already snapped it up, a la Horse Whisperer and Bridges of Madison County.
Rating: Summary: Roll the Dice - "Headhunters" is All Aces! Review: When I saw the cover and read that this book was about gals in Monaco, I immediately picked it up to read this summer. (I have always dreamed of going to Monaco before I die!) After reading Jules Bass' novel, I say to you all: "Pack my bags, I'm there!" and you will want to come with me! I loved the four women who dream BIG. (We all have friends just like them). Bass cleverly crafts a trip to die for...but, of course, there are troubles along the way. "Headhunters" is fast paced, thrilling the reader not to put the book down. If you love Sidney Sheldon, I beg you to read it. Jules Bass is his competition...and on his first book, too. Enjoy. I can't wait for the movie to come out...I will be the first in line. If they need any extra's, (Mr. Bass, let me know) I want to be there too. Good luck with your future books.
Rating: Summary: Welcome to the lifestyles of the rich and famous! Review: Who among us hasn't fantasized what it would be like to enjoy, even if for a short while, the wild, swinging life that we suspect the truly wealthy (and not just simple millionaries...we're talking megamoney) live each day? The notion certainly enticed Darlene, Eleanor, Irene and Carla. These four middle class American women, tired of their humdrum, nine to five workdays contrive a method of madness to leave behind their drab and uneventful lives for a vacation to remember. But, what happens when they arrive in Monte Carlo and each is unexpectedly greeted with a private limousine and a grand suite at the finest hotel in the Principality? Enter Maurice Gerard, Trevor Weymouth, Julio Benvenuti and Jean-Jaques Lacoste, four tanned, handsome and very eligible men of the world. True, the stories in this novel have more strands than a plate of spaghetti. And, yes, the characters probably could have been more fully developed. But dog gone it, sometimes it's nice to be entertained just for the fun of it. Jules Bass has written a delightful piece that can be read in one or two sittings. It's light-hearted and fun. It made this reviewer laugh out loud. Everyone deserves that sort of escape every now and then. Better to read the novel than wait for Dolly Parton, Cher, Diane Keaton and Bette Midler to show up in the movie version.
Rating: Summary: *******What a RIDE********* Review: Wonderful and exciting adventure of four women whom decide to do something daring, wild, and outrageous. Truly a great read! Mr. Bass is a wonderful and inspiration writer who does a terrific job of weaving a very detailed and heroic story of 8+ amusing personalities and makes if all come alive. The four women are courageous, the four men romantic, and others who surprisingly complete the puzzle. Bravo!!!! A must read for all who love a fun, exciting roller coaster of a ride. Monte Carlo here I come......
