Summary: To marry & not fall in love, what a suggestion!
Review: Sometimes, for the greater good, bitter enemies will fight together against a common enemy. In this case the Campbells and the MacGregors against Dougal Campbell who is returning to the Highlands with a raised army to again try and take over the title of Laird of the Campbells. To join forces against the man who killed his father years ago, Gavin MacGregor hand-fasts with Hannah Campbell for a year and a day (or until the end of the threat), and secretly agrees to not consummate the union so at the end of the allotted time, he can return her to her brother Owen the Laird of the Campbells. Hannah goes into her marriage with her own set of secrets regarding the events that took place ten years ago as well. Determined to make her marriage work, Hannah struggles with the fact that Gavin doesn't remember her. United against a common enemy the Clans fight together, but it is an unknown enemy that has the ability to tear them apart.

For her first novel Ms Pepio wove together a fabulous love story set in the Scottish Highlands during the 1100's. With well rounded characters and unexpected twists Hannah will amaze you with her ability to trust and love, while poor Gavin doesn't stand a chance of keeping his word not to touch her. Both are strong willed and while honor maybe everything, love is worth fighting for. As part of a historical, something almost always happens to the heroine, where the hero must come to the rescue--this scene was so unique! I thought this book was slightly reminiscent of Julie Garwood's Scottish romances. HIGHLAND HONOR is an excellent novel that will touch your heart- a definite keeper and author to keep your eye on!

Summary: Escape into another world..
Review: This well-written debut novel by Lori Pepio had me turning the pages eagerly until the end!

This historical novel set in the Highlands of Scotland in the 1100's, is filled with good and evil, loyalty towards the clan, touching scenes, and honorable feats. This novel provides an escape from our modern day with its historical setting, yet at the same time is quite realistic with its battle scenes and love scenes.

Hannah Campbell and Gavin MacGregor come from different clans. Almost like a Juliette and Romeo romance, they are both young when they meet, yet their clans are not on good terms. Shortly after their meeting, Gavin is pulled into a battle, and Hannah thinks him dead.

Several years later, unbeknowest to Hannah, her brother has made a pact with Gavin to marry her, but under one condition, not to consummate the marriage. This is a strategic move for both of the clans, but alas, destined not to work.

The story unfolds, with this delicate love story, with real characters and real feelings. Hannah, happy to see Gavin alive after all these years, wants more than anything else to marry him. She, not knowing the pact, expects her husband to be like all husbands on their wedding night. Gavin does not recognize her when he marries her, and is torn between his promise to her brother, and his growing love for her. He is caught in a very difficult spot.

However, with Pepio's superb, skillful story-telling ability, she masterfully pulls everything together to feel the reader going "YES!" at the end. This is a very good read to snuggle up to for the weekend.

Review: You could tell this was a beginner. She does have potential and I will try her again.
