Summary: Can't wait to read more!
Review: Having never read anything by Jane Heller before, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had an idea -- a nice, breezy, light read -- but I was in for a surprise. Not only did I get that relaxing beach-read quality, but I got a storyline with mystery and surprises as well.

Dr. Lynn Wyman, linguistics expert and creator of the Wyman Method, a program specializing in teaching men how to communicate with women, has it all -- a thriving practice, a bestselling book, a monthly guest appearance on Good Morning America, four wonderful and supporting friends, and an adoring husband who is well-versed in Womenspeak. What more could she ask for? Then in an instant, the bottom falls out, and her career hits an all-time low. Lynn is desperate to regain her status and the Wyman Method's credibility. Seeing a picture of Brandon Brock on the cover of Fortune Magazine's America's Toughest Bosses issue, Lynn is determined to gain Brandon as her client and turn him into a sensitive, woman-respecting gentleman. And in the process, she gets more than she bargained for....

I loved Female Intelligence. It was a very quick read, and the writing pulled just the right emotions. While not necessarily knee-slapping funny, I did laugh a few times. Mostly, however, this novel was simply fun brain candy, a great weekend-filler or a breather between heavy books. And then once you've begun your Jane Heller journey, there's no turning back! I can't wait to get to her other novels. Good Job, Jane; you've got a new fan.

Summary: It is a fun and fast read
Review: However, I have to admit, it's not as funny as Sis Boom Bah or Name Dropping or any of Heller's books. It is a good and quick read for this busy mom ~~ and it's pure escapism!

Dr. Lynn Wyman has a wildly successful practice in Womanspeak ~~ teaching men to speak like women ~~ until she discovered that her husband was cheating on her. Once she confided his infidelity to her circle of close friends, it was leaked to the media that the queen of communication couldn't even keep her marriage together ~~ she began to lose everything. Desperate to keep her practice, she decides to target a CEO of a huge corporation known as the world's meanest CEO and try to convert him to womenspeak. And the adventures began!

This book has it all ~~ romance, mystery and betrayal. Lynn was left to figure out just who she could trust among her girlfriends while trying to convince her new romantic interest that it wasn't her that leaked the information that she was working with him on womanspeak ~~ but I have to admit that it was a tad predictable. Which is sad because Heller's strength usually lies in the motto ~~ expected the unexpected ~~ only it didn't work in this novel.

If you're looking for a quick and entertaining read, this book would be it. However, don't expect it to measure up to Heller's other books!

Summary: wonderful fun
Review: I bought this book to read during a long flight, and didn't expect much from it. I was very pleasantly surprised - the writing is witty and clever, and the characters likeable. An enjoyable combination of a romance and mystery novel. This is my first Heller book, and I will certainly read her others.

Summary: Still hopeful ......
Review: I have read all of Jane Heller's books. I loved Cha Cha Cha and hope that Ms. Heller's next book is more along the lines of that title. I'm sorry to say that I was disappointed in her latest novel as it was extremely thin. More of a romance novel then general fiction. I do enjoy Ms. Heller's style of writing which is what got me through this book. The reader never had a chance to really get into any of the characters. I did develop a better understanding of men though! I still look forward to her next book but hope there is more to it than this title.

Summary: super read
Review: I have read all of Ms. Heller's books and I am a big fan, so I was thrilled when I saw she had a new one. Well...I just finished it and believe me when I tell you, you have to read this book. I spent the whole weekend reading it, and I laughed out loud so many times, my family quit asking what I was laughing at. I can't wait another year or two for her next one, so I guess I'll have to go back and reread some of her earlier books. Do yourself a favor, read this book and enjoy.

Summary: An insult to real female intelligence
Review: I have to admit I was sucked in by this book's title, but I should have trusted my own instincts and dropped it the minute I realized how terrible it was. The only thing worth reading in "Female Intelligence" is the dust jacket. The premise is decent -- worthy, even. But I found myself routinely saying -- out loud, mind you -- "Oh, come ON! She can't be this dumb!" The book's main character, Dr. Lynn Wyman, is supposed to be a therapist who wows the pop-psych-loving public with her "woman-speak" therapy for men. In reality, she's a complete idiot who can't see the most obvious plot points creeping up in her life. The dialogue is horrifically unrealistic (don't authors read anything out loud before they publish?) and her supposed heroine is a ninny. Ugh.

Summary: Jane Heller is another name for satire and wit! Funny!
Review: I love all of Jane Heller's books. She is one of the few authors who I will drop everything to read her books. She makes me laugh out loud at her dialogue and her characters antics. Her books are the perfect summer beach read.

Female communication expert Dr. Lynn Wyman is renowned for her ability to teach men "womenspeak", effectively enhancing male/female relationships. But her own life falls apart when she finds out her perfect husband has been cheating on her and her career is jeopardized when it is leaked to the media. To re-jumpstart her career she lands a famous client dubbed "America's Toughest Boss". As she tames and teaches him she falls in love with him. When their sessions are over they become involved in a relationship until another secret is leaked to the media that breaks up their relationship. Lynn has to figure out who is sabotaging her life before she loses everything she cares about.

Jane Heller's books are not deep, life changing reads, which is probably why I enjoy them so much. If you are in the mood for a fun, light treat, pick up any Jane Heller book and you won't be disappointed!

Summary: Not worth it -- especially in hardcover.
Review: I read this for a book group, because we wanted something lighter than the recent "downer" books we ha've been reading. This was a little too light. You could spot plot developments a mile away. Dialogue was fake. Maybe as a paperback...at the airport...when I have spare change in my pocket and will read just about ANYTHING...

Summary: This book cracked me up in the store!
Review: I started flipping through Female Intelligence in the store and I found myself laughing out loud right there. So of course I had to buy it, and it did not disappoint! This book was hilarious and very intelligent. The relationship between Lynn and Brandon unfolds really well, and I was rooting for them the whole time. I really couldn't believe all the astute, perceptive observations Heller makes about male and female speech. Yes, there are stereotypes, but they are as much humorously mocking, as they are implicitly mocked themselves. This book is excellent & I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a witty, fun, smart read.
