Summary: THE ULTIMATE, BOOK ON BEARS!!!!!!
Review: "SHOOTING BEARS" is a masterpiece of knowledge and highly technical and artistic photography woven into the ultimate book on bears ever published.

If I wasn't laughing about the chapter "Hunt of the Bozo's"; I was crying over one of his other unique encounters. While all of the narritive kept me on the edge of my chair, Coming from Denali Park; I,ve heard it all about bears for years; but no one ever has had the fortitude and talent to create a book of this techinal depth, unique character, and overwhelming magnitude.

While Pezzenti's work in his Alaska and American Eagle books completly blew nature photography to a higher level, Shooting Bears convinced me that this Photojounalist (Pezzenti) is without question in a league of his own and even the top pro's need to study this man's work. But don,t take my word for it, 30 minutes alone with Shooting Bears in your lap will forever embed Pezzenti's work in your heart as well.

Thanks, John. You continue to enlighten and amaze us all with your creations.

Summary: Breathtaking Photography
Review: Another stunning work by John Pezzenti!

After being completely mesmerized by the breathtaking photography, I was able to draw myself away to read the accompanying text, and it was equally impressive.

Intermingling words and images, he captures the pure essence of his subject, this time the majestic Bears, and transforms it into a medium that allows us all to share his vision.

John truly brings forth the spirit of the Bear, and takes you deep into the wild places where he dwells. With the incredible tales and the extraordinary visual accompaniment, it is a journey you will never forget.

The photograhy is outstanding, as is all of Pezzenti's work. The stories will make you laugh, or keep you on the edge of your seat, and you will want to read every last word.

Whether your interest is bears, wildlife, nature photography, art, or adventure, this book is not to be missed.

Summary: Breathtaking Photography
Review: I so look forward to every new offering by Mr. Pezzenti. Each and every book reminds me of why I moved to Alaska. The awesome power and beauty of Mother Nature is everywhere and there is no other series of books that I have experienced that moves me the way Mr. Pezzenti's does. The images take my breath away and the text is mesmerizing. Sometimes bringing me to tears and other times leaves me rolling on the floor with laughter. This book is no exception. Reading it helps take me back to my first sighting of a giant Kodiak Brown Bear lumbering along the beach. The sight was almost indescribable.
I have collected these books for several of my friends and family members because this is the best way for them to understand why I packed up my life and moved north. Now they can't wait to visit.

Summary: Stunning photos and text of our great North American Bears
Review: In the 90's when I lived in Alaska I pursued that lands great mammals with my camera. Along the way I met John Pezzenti. Not only is he an author who captures the mystery and thrill of wildlife adventure photography through a unique voice, he is one of the best nature and wildlife photographers in the world. This stunning book adds another notch onto his Nikon. It helped me be there again, but this time sitting with a cup of tea instead of the rain, bugs, miserable weather, and other hardships that John lives with daily. Buy this book! You'll love it too!

Summary: Not your everyday.
Review: These photographs are totally amazing. I can't even believe the photographer could get so close to bears so many times, especially considering some of the close calls he describes-hilariously-in the book. John Pezzenti has really captured something wild here, so very beautifully.

This is a fantastic gift for a child who loves animals, cuddly or scary, or for an adult, like me, who just wants a fantastic nature photography book. The animal is beautiful and has never been captured so artistically, so stunningly, before.

The anecdotes, as I mentioned, are good for a laugh and bring out the reality of the photos.

The final word: If you want a book on bears, this is the best one I've seen. If you want great wildlife photography, this is without a doubt going to please and excite you.

Summary: Buy it for the pictures, enjoy it for the text!
Review: This book is another fine example of John Pezzenti's work. The pasion he has for bears and all wildlife comes through in every picture. While I and many others will buy this book for the pictures, which alone is worth the price, reading the text brought a new level of understanding and appreciation for both the bears and John.
While not all of the book is about Alaska, I highly recomend this book to all Alaskans, as well as people who not as fortunate to live here.

Summary: A BOOK WITHOUT EQUAL
Review: This book represents great professional pride in a extremely intense project. The photos brings to life some of the mystique that bears are known for. This book can bring to you some of the beauty and majestic backdrops of the enviroment these magnificent mammals call home. The photos really give you the sense of being there with them without all the work.
Great conversation book, you can spend hours looking and reading this book. I enjoyed it very much, my thanks to all involved in bringing it to us.
