Rating: Summary: Interesting Review: I have always loved the idea of Nephilim. Angels taking women brides is a romantic notion. However, this book had a different take on it. It was a neat perspective and somehting to think about. I prefer to stick to my romantic image though. ;o) Seen City of Angels one too many times, I suppose.
Rating: Summary: Give it a chance Review: Took me quite awhile to get through the first hundred or so pages and buy what Marzulli was selling. (what serious alcoholic you know drinks cases of Grand Marnier? why would a high security hospital hire some guy in a trailer who lets in reporters for no reason whatsoever?) But it gets better and better, or, at least, much more addictive. By the end, I really enjoyed it. Can't say I buy the premise entirely, but it's as good an explanation as any, I guess.
Rating: Summary: Can't Put It Down Review: I have been a UFO buff since my youth (around 30 years ago) and entered a quest (then) for the truth with an open mind. I read magazines and 100s of books on the subject, before I came to my own conclusion. My conclusion is much the same as the one that is expressed in This Book Nephilim; and it is obvious to me that the Author L. A. Marzulli has read the same kind of source materiel and documentary evidence that I have over the years; he has done his homework as one of the reviewers already said. On top of that this is an excellent book, its very exciting, and is like a roller costar ride from cover to cover. It also sets out to teach and I think does a great job at that. I won't give away the plot but I will say that those who have made up thre minds that UFOs our are friendly space brothers need to read this book desperately also I would say any and everyone interested in the UFO and Alien Phenomena should read this book.
Rating: Summary: A platform for proselytizing that left me unmoved Review: I might have given this book 3 stars if I hadn't felt so strongly that the author's intent was primarily to convert the reader to Christianity. In my opinion, he should have devoted less time and energy toward that effort and more on actually developing his characters. As one who has diligently studied the origins of Christianity, as well as the other patriarchal religions, and has deliberately chosen not to follow that path, I feel the author is insulting my intelligence by including me among those to whom his god sends a strong delusion so that I might believe a lie. I might point out that it hardly requires "strong delusion" to disbelieve the improbable - a healthy dose of rational thought will suffice.
Rating: Summary: This was published??? Review: Just because a novel is written by a Chrisitan author does not mean that it has to be dry, bland, cheezy, lame, and far-fetched. Yet, that is exactly what this ridiculous novel is. At the core of the book is an alcoholic journalist stumbling around in a drunken stupor all because he lost his son in a car accident (There's originality for you!) Sadly, things only become more ridiculous as the goverment decides to fill him in on their Alien Agenda. There isn't any action, no real drama, and the one-dimensional characters are as bad as the boring, preachy dialogue that is but one of the many flaws in this "sugar coated" demon fest...
Rating: Summary: I can't wait for the sequel! Review: I just finished reading "Nephilim" and I loved it. Anyone interested in what the Bible has to say about extra terrestrials should read this book. It has sparked my interest in the subject and I intend on reading more books for further insight. Is this the beginning of a "Left Behind"-type series? I sure hope so.
Rating: Summary: Any one who rates this 1 star had no brain Review: One of the best books i ever read.
Rating: Summary: A Close Encounter with a Great Book! Review: What a thrilling story! I couldn't put it down. Interesting characters and a compelling, thought-provoking plot - a real page-turner. Mr. Marzulli is a very gifted writer. "Nephilim" will not disappoint you! I really hope there will be at least one more sequel - I can't wait to find out what happens next! You really feel like you know these characters. And since I live near the Nevada Test Site, it really made me think about the mysterious Area 51 and what may be out there. Praise God that His perfect love casts out fear!
Rating: Summary: As current as it is historical Review: What a well written book! Those familiar with the concept of the Nephilim, the "giants" referred to in the old testament, will be impressed with Marzulli's thoroughly researched efforts in telling a magnificent story. Those familiar with von Daniken's "Chariots of the Gods" will not be surprised by the interweaving thread of historic extraterrestrial genetic interbreeding. Again, well researched, well told. I thought the book took a rather lazy, predictable turn toward the end, but I enjoyed the excellent read up to that point. It makes me wonder if the editor told the writer to change something at the end that probably hurt the original concept. It would be unfortunate if that were the case, and I would hope that all writers would take a lesson from what, I admit, is a theory, and hold on to your own treasures. Your readers will appreciate it. What *can* happen is that, once you have read the thoroughly well written novel up to the end, you can devise an ending that makes more sense to you. It would even make a good "game" for a book readers' group, or an email list. Shoot, maybe I'll even give it a shot. It's a great book. If you're into this sort of thing, I highly recommend it. It is as current as it is historical, and touches on events you are reading in the newspaper today -- even though the book was written before they happened.
Rating: Summary: And the point of it all is? Review: The plot had some promise, but there came a point near the end of the book where it became clear to this reader that "the point" of the book was MIA. Overall, it was a disappointment. Why the publisher had the audiacity to post a "We Guarantee You'll Love This Book" sticker on the outside is beyond me. Had they ever read it?
