Summary: I have read this book at least once a year since I was 12
Review: What a work of genious the appeal of this book does not dull with time. No book Í have read paints a clearer (or more beautiful) world than Tolkiens Middle Earth. So if the world has you down or worn thin read this book it will restore your spirit.

Summary: best book ever written
Review: There is no word to describe Tolkiens books. I think every man, woman, and child should be made to read these books as they are the best books ever written. They are epic tales which portray all the human emotions and leave you with the feeling of great loss once you have finished them as you know it is over.

Review: If you are about to read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy for the first time,I envy you for the experiance you are about to have!It will take some time(you will swear that a Half Million words was TOO SHORT!)but you will sit and perhaps weep at the conclusion of the last page, last sentence, from the power of the events depicted in this epic novel!Hope beyond Hope!

Summary: One of the best fantasy worlds I've ever read about. Genius
Review: I really do love this book. Tolkien was a master at creating in his mind, and then putting that world onto paper. Some people can make these worlds in their minds, yet others can write worlds onto paper. But very few can do both successfully and equally as well. That is what makes Tolkien so amazing. I love every part of this series. Each book is amazing in its own way; and we haven't even begun with the poems. Genius this work is. I'll share these books with my kids and their kids. Hopefully this classic will endure for all times.

Summary: The Greatest Fantasy Ever Written
Review: Tolkien was a great man, and behind every great man, there is a story, he told a story that, once you read it, you never forget it. Every time you read it, you get new meanings, messages, experiences, and feelings toward characters. It should also be noted that Led Zeppelin has knowledge of this, and has written of it in their songs... this is probably one of the best books I have ever read.

Summary: Still a "10" after 21 years.
Review: I first read LTOR over twenty years ago in high school, and, when I reread it recently, was stunned again by the shear force of Tolkien's masterpiece. Virtually every fantasy "epic" written today has the same tired plot line: a young boy/man from a small town discovers that he has vast powers and becomes the primary weapon against an all-encompassing evil. Jordan, Feist, Williams, etc, all use this same device. Not Tolkien. The true heroes of LOTR are Sam and Frodo, who are physically weaker that virtually every other character in the tale and have no magical powers. It is their moral courage and innate goodness that is their real strength and enables them to triumph. If I want to read about "real", tragically flawed heroes, I can read the newspaper. Tolkien's work is a triumph of the romantic spirit that leaves you with a smile long after you turn the last page. It's simply the best.

Summary: Excellent, brilliant, fantastic!!!
Review: My parents tirelessly read this 3 volume tome to me when I was a child, and once I was old enough to read myself, it became one of the first books that I ever read. JRR Tolkien's world is so intrecate, so realistic (this man is also a scholar), that I can look back upon Middle Earth as a place where I have once lived. It is sometimes comforting to reflect on Frodo's quest to remind oneself that this is actually not much different than our own lives... Not only do I recommend this book for everyone reading this site, but I also urge everyone to (re)read this to their children. It contains so many wonderful elements that can help you later find your way through a confusing world. The Lord of the Rings is kind of an oral tradition. Perhaps JRR can become a modern Homer in this way, I can only hope...

Summary: Review
Review: Tolkien is a genious! This series was so intense for me that I was beleiving that it really happened (who knows maybe it did). From elven lore to the evil powers of Valar Mordor, this epic tale is the greatest book that was ever written. Gandalf the wizard is enchanting and the lore of the world incredibly genious. The whole Tolkien series is incredible...

Summary: If I could give more stars, I would.
Review: I get angry with anyone who says these books are b.s. -- those folks must have been so speechless that they had to find something to pick apart. And I know that sometimes it was a tad predictable that almost all of the major characters survived, but hey, Boromir and Theoden died, didn't they? To me, these books are the standard by which all other books of any genre are to be judged. And they are not simply a story; they are a full account of an entire land and its battle against evil. Tolkien's work is truly extraordinary and anything other than the highest praise is undeserved.
