Rating: Summary: A very entertaining and grotesque story of zombies Review: Hell is Full?!?! Well this is a great motive for zombies to plauge the earth. I really enjoyed seeing the good guys (the humans, unless you are a zombie) kick but. The golification of human survival at its best, however hopeless the strugle may seem. A very good movie, and very entertaining, if you liked "Dead Alive" you will love this, eventhough it does attemt to be more serious. I laughed, I cried, I was on the edge of my seat, everything I would expect from a great horror flick.
Rating: Summary: A masterpiece!!!!!!!!!! Review: Im not a fan of killer zombies, but this one is simply great: the violence and the gore use in this movie is so entertaining that is so funny to watch. A must see!
Rating: Summary: SIMPLY THE GREATEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN Review: Dawn of the Dead is the best horror film ever made. With its extreme gore and sense of humor, i cant watch this movie enough. The directors cut has a few extra minutes of footage. No real extra gore. BUY IT.
Rating: Summary: One of Romero's greatest films. Review: George Romero's "Dawn of the Dead" is arguably one of the finest, and certinly one of the most influential horror films of all time. Filmed as a sequel to his 1968 classic "Night of the Living Dead", "Dawn" goes beyond the social commentary and documentry-style filmmaking of its predecessor to overwhelm the senses with its cold, dispassionate view of the society we had become over the previous decade, and depict it this time in brutal, gory color. Along with "Phantasm", released at the same time, "Dawn" created the era of the ultra gory "slasher" films that defined horror throughout much of the 1980's, except that in "Dawn's" case the violence is intentionally exploited to the point of near comedy. New and creative ways of killing the zombies become new and disturbing analysis of our own morality, as we quickly disassociate "them" from "us", ultimately leading up to the seperation of "bad" humans from "good". George plays with our minds and values in as cutting a social commentary as any episode of "South Park" and in a much more disturbing way. Making his efforts all the more successful and lasting. Warning: this film was originally considered so graphically violent it was released unrated, and noone under 18 was admitted. That still holds true today, and little that has come along sense can match its in-your-face gore. Especially in this new era of anti-"media violence". Modern filmmakers could still learn much from the way in which Romero maintains the "shock-value" of his violence, never allowing it to become comfortable.
Rating: Summary: Hands down BEST zombie movie ever made! Review: It has it all, guts, blood, and the end of the world. For anyone who has loved zombie movies, they know that George A. Romero is the king. This is his masterpiece, the best of the best.
Rating: Summary: The ultimate movie in the " DEAD " trilogy Review: Dawn of the Dead is the ultimate living dead movie in the George Romero's trilogy. The movie picks up three weeks after the events of Night of the Living Dead. The world is now slowly being taken over by zombies, but the living still can't get over their own differences. Fighting for survival four people board a helicopter and flee the cities, hoping to outrun the dead. In the process they run into an abondoned mall. At first they stay only to get supplies but decide to make it home for a while. Soon they face the unrelenting zombies advance and begin to wonder if they are some of the last people left alive. A masterful movie that grips the soul and captures the imagination. It shows the dark side of man and his cruelties to one another.
Rating: Summary: Greatest horror flick of all time Review: Living in a mall with all of the stores open just for you except you got kill a bunch of zombies first. dont get bitten
Rating: Summary: The father of splatter films Review: Dawn of the Dead is the film that started it all. It began the bloody violence and gore that's overshadowed story these days in horror films. That's not to say Dawn of the Dead doesn't have a story. It's rather ironic that Dawn's special effects are cheap and its story is excellent instead of vice versa as many horror films are in the 90's. The film's plot is about four survivors zombie chaos in a city who take refuge in an abandoned mall. They must defend their new home from zombies as well as looters. Still, the film's low budget did make the zombies look fake, but that wasn't the major problem. This film wasn't scary, but that could have improved on if the zombies moved quicker or moaned loudly or if the characters in the film looked scared more often. (For crying out loud, Roger kept whooping "yee-ha" as he knocked zombies down) Heck, when Tom Savini entered the film, he was hugely outnumbered by zombies and he didn't even seem the least bit scared, nor to deny the fact that the zombies were moving slower than slugs. There was a scene that didn't make much sense. When those two child zombies attacked Peter, they were running, and I've never seen a zombie do that before. Well, it's still a pretty good movie. I can understand why so many people call it a classic, although I am surprised that only few people hate this film despite the poor special effects.
Rating: Summary: The greatest horror film of all time.... Review: This coming from a tough critic. DAWN OF THE DEAD is an epic horror, and no other zombie film in exisitence, or ANY horror film has been able to out-do this masterpiece. This film in Romero's dead trilogy takes place a few weeks after Night of the Living Dead. Society is going to hell...people are rioting, killing each other, and destroying everything...and isn't that funny? Most of the problems are not caused by the zombies THEMSELVES...but by the humans. A very accurate statement on the human race. However, a TV traffic reporter decides that he and his girlfriend, along with a couple of SWAT officers, should "borrow" the station helicopter and get the hell out of Dodge. They do so, and find themselves landing on a large shopping mall after a series of close calls. The longer they hole up in the mall, however, the more they become ambitious. They then decide to take over the mall, and shut out the dead....they live in a paradise that quickly eats them away...but they have a trouble headed towards them worse than any zombies. This movie has it all, awesome music by GOBLIN, adventure, action, horror, and comedy. You really love the characters, who develop quite nicely throughout the movie. In my humble opinion, this film has one of (if not the best) endings in horror history. No, don't expect any twists...it's just one of the best, and represents a sour victory perfectly. Every human being owes it to themselves to be treated with this wonderful movie. Buy it.
Rating: Summary: very good movie but not as good as night of the living dead. Review: It contains blood and good special effects to be made in the 1970's
