Rating: Summary: The American Darts Organization Book of Darts Review: On a scale of one to ten, this book would have to be rated a bull's-eye ten. I've played darts for over forty years yet find Mr. Carey's book beaming with excellent and informed insight. The text is clear as well as precise.
Rating: Summary: Best How To Book on Darts Review: Simple, easy to read book. Great for someone who is starting out. I had played darts without really knowing the rules, when I wanted to play for a team - everyone suggested this book. Most pubs that have a dartboard seem to have a well worn copy behind the bar to settle disputes. When people say "According to the ADO...", they really are saying "According to Carey..."!
Rating: Summary: DARTS IS THE BOMB! Review: Succinct, cogent, and perfect for the beginning darter.

Rating: Summary: This book changed my life Review: The point of a selp-help or how-to book is to improve thereader; more often than not, the books don't succeed. Chris Careydoes: I'm not ready to play for big bucks, but not only do I get askedto join in now, but no one ducks when I toe the line. Presented clearly and concisely, Carey offers everything one needs to know to begin to master the game. When you're done, all you have to do is practice...but at least you'll know what you're doing....

Rating: Summary: Update/answer to customer comment Review: The reader from Miami is absolutely correct. Thanks for the comment. The American Darts Organization Book of Darts IS for beginners. As I state in the preface, this is "a simple, inexpensive book whose sole aim is to inform everyone, especially beginners, about the basics of the game--from throwing the first dart to the rules and strategies of the most popular games played today." There is, however, a good bit of reference material (outcharts, sample games, ADO tournament rules, measurements for setting up a board) that even some regular players don't know that well (or as well as they should). Overall, the goal of the book is simple. Whenever I'm out playing, I overhear non-players in the pub talking about darts, and they're curious--"What game are you playing, what numbers are you aiming at?" and so on. I tell them about the game. We all do it; we're ambassadors of sorts, for we enjoy playing and want others to join the fun. THE ADO BOOK OF DARTS is meant as such a friendly introduction, a foundation. Again, from the preface: "If this book helps anyone establish that initial foundation and familiarity with the game, then I have succeeded and the sport of darts has gained another player. Welcome." Regarding the level of the book, I'm seriously thinking of writing a follow-up book that goes into greater detail on game strategy, tactics, the league--and professional--dart scene, and including much more for the seasoned player. Yet, I still feel that the biggest market--and the greatest good to the game, in attracting new players--has been approached with THE ADO BOOK OF DARTS. Anyone want to see another book? If so, I'll work on it. Most of this later knowledge, though, comes from years of playing. I'm not quite certain people will go buy a book... Stay tuned.
Rating: Summary: Perfect Review: This book is amazing. It's only 128 pages, yet somehow after reading it just once I am now the greatest dart player in the world. Chris Carey is a god, and I'd love to shake his hand if the trip to Mt. Olympus wasn't so strenuous.
