Summary: The final word, the real deal
Review: Complexity sells, but simplicity is truth... and the simple truth is that the best players in the world have better swing mechanics than the rest of us. The research behind this book proves this empircally, and the results obtained through this astounding transfer of knowledge--fact, not opinion--are immediate. Ralph Mann has provided an incredible service to serious students of the game.

I can't tell you the struggle it's been for me to learn this game. I'm reasonably athletic and coordinated, but I could not hit a golf ball. In hindsight, the problem was simple: I had no basis of reference for understanding precisely what I was doing wrong, relative to what I am SUPPOSED to be doing. This book provides that basis. The results? I've gone from scoring in the 100's to the 80's, and can now begin to focus on my short game for even greater improvement.

I submit that until you are given a means of SELF-diagnosis (rather than a "pro's" diagnosis based strictly upon his knowledge of what works for him), you will see little improvement. If you are not 100% certain that you know the proper swing mechanic and have the ability to diagnose your problem areas, I wholeheartedly suggest that you invest in your game by studying and implementing the concepts in this book, and stop buying all of those silly golf training gimmicks, videos, and singular-opinion books & lessons.

I'm proof that ANYONE can master the fundamentals of the correct golf swing--including you!

Summary: For Serious Golfers, this is a must read book.
Review: For any mid to low-handicapper longing for a more reliable golf swing, or for anyone who just wants to understand swing mechanics -- get this book. I actually bought and later returned it for a refund because it seemed almost elementary. But after traveling across the country to have my swing video analyzed by a top teaching professional, I revisted Swing Like a Pro and compared myself to the 'Model Pro'. I don't have enoungh space here to tell you how enlightening the book has been. The golf lesson was great, but reading this inconjunction with video analysis, made all the difference. Fred Griffin's and Dr. Mann's research dispelled a number of misunderstandings I've held onto for years. I am extremely glad i stumble onto this book again - and that I had the good sense to really read it this time.

A few constructive critiscisms: It doesn't spend enough time addressing the importance of alignment (how to get it right). Also, if you don't have the build of the Model Pro ( I just happen to be pretty close)... you may find it hard to imitate the 'Pro'. Craig Stadler is not represented in this book. Nor is Laura Davies. In this case, I would recommend Mike Adams' and T.J. Tomasi's book, The LAWS of the Golf Swing: Body Type Your Swing and Master Your Game.

Summary: Swing like a Pro
Review: For me this book puts too much emphasis on what the body should be doing rather than what should happen with the hands and arms.

Sure this is how the Pros swing the club and who am I to argue against this method. But I seriously doubt that the average hacker will improve just my doing the drills in this book without addressing certain fundamentals that the book does not address or at least puts little emphasis on.

Summary: Finally, an objective golf instruction book
Review: Golfers have waited hundreds of years for an instruction book which utilizes science in undestanding the golf swing. Every other golf instruction book is strictly a function of subjective swing theories: supination, swing in a barrel, connection, swing your arms, ad nauseum. What this book does it tell you where the club and your body should be in an ideal swing. The "Pro" in "Swing Like a Pro" is a consensus 3-D model formulated from 70 of the best golfers in the world - and it shows the ideal golf swing as composed from these great golfers. This is not an artist's rendering of where they think the body or club should be; rather, it is an actual computer model of this consensus "Pro" and therefore proves scientifically, not in a subjective theory, the correct golf swing. This book debunks all the "theory" of where/why/how one should swing the golf club. Best and most informative instruction book ever written - congrats to Fred and Ralph.

Summary: It Works & It's Simple
Review: Great book! A must for the beginner and high handicappers! I read it, followed the steps, and took 10 strokes off my game. I'm hitting the ball straighter and feel very confident about my game. For the first time I'm actually enjoying the game, and winning some money.

Summary: A must read for the every golfer.
Review: I am a golf teaching professional specializing in golf swing mechanics. I hane done more than ten thousand lessons and can honestly say that I have never before read such a magnificent manual about the golf swing. If I could have my way, every golfer, new or experienced, young and not so young would be required to have this masterpiece.

Summary: The Book for the Pros
Review: I am a PGA Tour professional golfer and recommend this book highly. Not only does it clarify the sequential movement of the body and club but it does so in a very precise and well-explained manner. Now you will know if indeed you are in correct positional movement throughout the swing. Nice work guys.

Summary: A classic on the golf swing
Review: I cannot recommend this book enough, especially to the intermediate golfer who like myself has read the standard texts and has had some golf lessons. The text is clear, and well written, and the illustrations are the best I've seen in in a golf book. It truely has helped my swing. I would love to see the authors use the same format to cover the short game.

Summary: finally!
Review: i have been a serious student of the game for 26 years. i have read most every classic golf instruction book and taken many lessons over the years. this is the most helpful golf book i have ever read. it has put all the pieces together in a way that finally makes perfect sense. it is a pleasure to feel such confidence and conviction as i practice what i have learned. i have asked difficult questions of top players and teachers over the years and until now could not get satifactory answers. the value of this book lies in the author's ability to help a reader understand why some swing mechanics are truly important, and (just as important) why many other classic instruction points are unimportant or dead wrong. the book is based on measurable scientific fact and conclusion, not opinion. i think this book will become the classic golf instruction book of our time. enjoy!

Summary: Best teaching book for the amatur.
Review: I have been attempting to play golf for twenty years, have taken numerous golf lessons and read volumes of books and magazines. I am an engineer and found this book to be systematic, thorough and provided reasons why the good and bad shots occur. The text was easy to read, understand and follow. I will recommend and send this book to my brother and relatives in the UK. They have just started to enjoy the thrill and excitement of swinging a golf club and with this book will start on the crucial right path. Thanks for such delight to read and for the correct execution of the game. Bob
