Summary: The best tennis writer!
Review: I love the WONDERFUL book "Tennis Confidential" by Paul Fein: great! I like especially the Memorable Interviews with Pete Sampras, John McEnroe and the immortal Champion Arthur Ashe. A schemer course among personage, men and myths of the Tennis Planet. An excursus sober, moderate and always elegant, by a very professional writer. The best tennis book I have read. Thanks for living, Paul! --- A tennis webmaster.

Summary: Great Book
Review: I really enjoyed this book. It covered a broad spectrum of issues and eras, covering a century of tennis. There is a nice balance of articles and interviews. It was fun to read about some past great matches and see the social interest of the old matches like Lenglen vs. Wills or Budge vs. Von Cramm. It was nice to see interviews with some the games past great players like Riggs, Connors and McEnroe. It's interesting to read about the past great players and consider some of the possible similarities and differences with today's players. You also get a good feel for the recent changes to the game and some of the issues these changes have created. Reading about the current players gives a good understanding about many of today's stars. Since I'm related to the past great champ Pancho I've been exposed to some of the history of tennis. So I was really able to appreciate this well written book. It's great to see a good tennis book written by someone who obviously loves the game. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Excellent book! - June 27, 2002
Review: I recommend Paul Fein's book to anyone interested in a deeper understanding of the game, it's players, it's history, and the future direction of tennis. Paul Fein has captured it all in this excellent and easy to read book. I have read many books on tennis but this one kept my interest from beginning to end. It's filled with detailed information about a variety of different pros, different conflicts, and different tennis historical facts. His research is outstanding. I could not believe the information I learned that I did not know. And if that were not enough his book ends with the ten greatest matches in history. Tennis Confidential is a must read for tennis fans!

Summary: An inside peek into pro tennis
Review: If tennis is your passion, or if you are just beginning this wonderful sport, you will certainly enjoy Paul Fein's TENNIS CONFIDENTIAL. It is filled with interesting tidbits about current tennis pros as well as champion players from the past. I especially liked the "Fascinating Facts" section at the conclusion of each chapter. Where else could you find out that "Parents who send their children to Pat Cash's new tennis academy in Australia are required to attend behavior classes." Paul Fein's detail-oriented style of writing produced a thoroughly entertaining book and reveals his love for the game of tennis.

Summary: Game, Set & Fein!
Review: If you like Tennis, its stars and the whole package, you will definitely enjoy this book. The book starts off with a series of portraits of great players, followed up by unique interviews, which are both fun and enlightening to read. We get close to the Williams sisters, Sampras, Arthur Ashe, Jimbo, Guga, etc. After this, we move into some more serious issues with entries concerning burning issues, such as "Bad Dads" in Tennis. Lastly, the book hits the sweet spot with stunning accounts of some of the greatest matches in Tennis history. This writing is short and concise and makes the matches come alive. I was 13 years old when Borg beat MacEnroe in 1980 and I felt the special vibes again just reading the two page description in Fein's book.
- If there ever was a Book on Tennis which manages to bring the sport alive, and make you a little bit smarter at the same time, this is it.

Summary: History
Review: If you love tennis you have to read Tennis Confidential.
It is a great book, with important parts of tennis history, lots of interviews and profiles on whoever has or had an impact on the tennis tour.
I was really happy to see a feature on Gustavo Kuerten, specially since american writers dont give him too much credit.
You shouldnt miss it.

Summary: Essays, interviews, and much more
Review: If you think you know a lot about tennis you'll learn more in this in-depth look at tennis from a long-time, award-winning tennis writer. Paul Fein assembled a collection of his best articles for Tennis Confidential, and the result is an entertaining and informative experience intertwined with fascinating facts. He cleverly broke it down into six parts: Portraits of the Stars, Memorable Interviews, Topical Trends and Burning issues, The Great Controversies, Twentieth-Century Retrospectives, and The Ten Greatest Matches in Tennis History. In one chapter, he examines two-handed backhands, tiebreakers, and the racket revolution. In another, we take an in-depth look at Venus Williams, Andre Agassi, and Anna Kournikova. It's a book that you can pick up again and again and enjoy it all over again. I highly recommend Tennis Confidential to anyone with an interest in tennis.

Summary: Finally...a tennis book that rocks!
Review: It's an entertaining read, and I was surprised to learn as much as I did. I particulary liked his essay style...such as "20 reasons why women's tennis is better than men's"..."10 greatest tennis matches in history" and "Let the Service Net Rule Stay". When it comes to the individual personalities...the list is comprehensive (and yes...I admit I read the Kournikova essay first but in fact became empathetic to her when I read about her younger years). Fein is definitely in the know, and has the connections and writing skill that makes the reader feel like an insider in the pro tennis game. Intellectual and fun...it's nice to FINALLY find an a-list tennis book.
