Summary: Nice compilation
Review: This a compilation of articles and interviews with various tennis people. This is a must-read for every fan. The title is misleading, it is not "today's" greatest players and matches. There was materials from pre-Open era and a lot of stuff from the '80's. I thought that was fine because I like tennis, but if you are looking for truly current controversies, etc., this isn't it. I would recommend reading it from the library. After you read it, you're done, this is not something you re-read over and over.

Summary: Great fun for any tennis aficionado.
Review: This book is really entertaining and informative about the tennis world. Interviews with tennis current tennis stars and the ones of yesteryears are fascinating. You see the contrasting personalities and tennis styles of Borg, Connors, McEnroe, Gerulaitis, Sampras.

The reviews of the best matches in history can give you shivers down your spine. I am old enough to have seen many of them. And, the book makes you relive some fabulous tennis moments such as the 16-14 tiebreaker in the 4th set that McEnroe, as the underdog, won against Borg in a Wimbledon final. Borg regrouped and won his 5th Wimbledon title anyway. But, David (McEnroe) so to speak had the sling shot to beat Goliath (Borg) and the rest is history. McEnroe went on in his early career by successfully dismantling Borg's game stroke per stroke, and sent the Swede into early retirement (at 25) and a long mental depression.

If you love the game, you'll love this book.

I bought a copy of this book, and lent it to one of my tennis pal. I told him to pass it on when he was done to one of his own tennis pal. So, my copy is now travelling the world just as a tennis professional is. You may be one of the future lucky recipients of my copy.

Summary: Great Read!!
Review: This book was so much fun to read! This book is great for the dedicated tennis professional to the once a month hacker. It covered a wide range of subjects and players and was very professionally written. I read everything I can get my hands on about tennis and this book is definitely one of the best I have ever read. I learned so much about the players, tennis history, and the inside scoop on many of tennis' controversies. It was great! I recommend it highly.

Summary: Tennis (Reading) Anyone?
Review: This is a great book that can be enjoyed by either reading it straight through or in bits and pieces, for tennis fans with hectic schedules.

The writing is engaging, and even for someone who regularly follows the game, the facts scattered throughout the book are interesting and not widely known.

I recommend this book for both diehard tennis fans, and those with even a casual interest in the game and its players.

Summary: A Great Documentary on the Issues facing Tennis
Review: This is an excellent read! Paul Fein examines in detail the peaks and valleys (and volleys) of the tennis world. Fein discusses issues such as the excessive power in our sport, race relations, the comparisons of mens versus womens tennis, tennis in underdeveloped countries, and and other pervasive factors. He truly makes very effective points, which deserve utmost consideration for anyone from the casual fan to the most well-respected tennis officials. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is willing to look at tennis well beyond the baseline.

Summary: A Craftsman's Book
Review: Well known tennis writer Paul Fein has put a lot of work into this "Tennis Confidential" book of his, and it has come up trumps. It is interesting, wide-ranging, knowledgeable and easy to read. Its 300 pages and over 20 illustrations are very good value.

Summary: Not only a book about tennis - this book is tennis
Review: When you think of tennis, you hardly think of a perfect backhand or a great shot. What you really have in mind are the milestones of this sport. If it is the "Battle of the Sexes", or the Borg, McEnroe and Becker Eras - there are times in history, in which tennis played its role, even off the
court.

These times, great matches and controversies may have been in the past - but the famous tennis author Paul Fein gave them a place in our bookshelves. Whether it is the remarkable story of a Grand Slam final, the inside story of great subjects or a personal interviews with outstanding players who gave the
game its character - Paul Fein has it in his book. It is a truly fine collection of his best articles, written in a special manner to give tennis history back its life and the importance it deserves. It also covers today's stars with really interesting stories about their tennis careers and private
lives.

I definitely recommend Tennis Confidential. If you're a serious tennis fan, you'll love it. And if you're a casual tennis fan, your interest in tennis will grow for sure.
