Summary: Wow... I mean... Wow
Review: This series has got to be the BEST series in the entire world. With Barney, Simon, Jane, Will, Bran, and of course, Great-Uncle-Merry, the course of High and Wild Magic will never be the same. Ms. Cooper's fantasy stories are, well, great! If you haven't read this book, you are missing out on possibly the best books in the world. Read 'em today!

Summary: Changed me as a child, I carry it still in my heart
Review: Over Sea, Under Stone is the first book in my favorite series of all time. I first read it repeatedly when I was ten years old, again in Ireland at age 18, and once more this year at the age of 28. The lore (as it refers to the wisdom of a people) and imagination of the series is profound, the characters both ordinary and extraordinary enough that they quickly work their way into a reader's heart. These books withstand the test of time, and will live well beyond the 20th century.

Summary: Good Book!!!
Review: Barnabas, Jane, and Simon are staying in Trewissick (a town by the sea) with their great-uncle. There, a dangerous adventure starts and continues until the last book in the sequence, Silver On The Tree. This book was a little confusing in the middle. The Dark Is Rising (book 2 in the sequence) is much better.

Summary: This series is...Wow!!
Review: This book is so exciting, after you read it you will be looking back over your shoulder expecting a tall guy in black coming after you because you know too much about him. Hastings, as he's called appears in most of the other books in some form or another. The book begins in Cornwall, England, where three children find a strange parchment, and with the help of their Great-uncle Merry, try to find the treasure that it leads to without getting cought by the Dark. The treasure it leads to is a grail, one of the four things of power that the Light needs to stop the Dark before it takes over the world. This book has many high points in which you'll think that the Dark will win, like when Simon gets chased by Hastings on foot. Or when Barney gets kiddnapped by the Withers (some others from the Dark) and is put under a spell by Hastings, and almost gives him the location of the grail. If you read the other books after this one then you will smile at the familiarity that you see. Read this book, everyone! You'll love it!!!

Summary: Very good.
Review: It's interesting how the books in the Dark Is Rising sequence are so different! This one is very interesting and engaging story, but more simple and easy to understand than some of the others. Some people might complain about it being too "little kid-ish", but it was very enjoyable for me. It reminds me of Chronicales of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, how it is aimed at kids and they will like it, but so will older readers.

Summary: THE SEARCH FOR THE PENDRAGON
Review: This fascinating page-turner kicks off Cooper's excellent 5-part Fantasy series called THE DARK IS RISING. Although residing in the USA, the author reveals her fondness for Coastal Britain, as she whisks her protagonists on incredible journeys of self-discovery, historical treasure hunts and even Time Travel itself. In this signature book, the three Drew children are vacationing in Cornwall, when they accidentally discover an ancient map. Now this manuscript in Latin and a mysterious, runic, language is fiercely sought after by two sides in a timeless battle, waged over the centuries. The fraying document sets in motion a bizarre series of events, which test both the children's moral courage, physical stamina, spunk and smarts.

Fortunately their Great Uncle Merry--learned and leonine--is on hand to interpret their find and guide them on Their unexpected Quest: To locate the sacred, powerful Grail (Chalice) prized in Camelot--long coveted by adherents of both the Light (like Uncle Merry) and the Dark (such as half the people they meet)! The kids, left free to snoop about the landscape and conjecture the location of several intermediary clues, gradually learn not to trust anyone. Clues which have been awaing them (or some clever scholar) since Celtic times! Alas, their beloved uncle is not always present to offer them the cloak of his protection--scholarly and otherwise.

For the Dark is gathering its forces around them, sensing that the children are gaining ground on the Grail. These human agents of evil and chaos are grimly determined to possess it for their own ruthless purposes and Nothing will stand in their way--least of all 3 school kids on summer holiday. It's the immortal power struggle between Good and Evil, with the kids as unsuspecting pawns of greater forces than they can imagine. Which side will gain the upper hand and for how long? Expect gripping suspense and surprise hints of future battles in this fabulous book for Fantasy lovers of all ages. You will meet some of these characters in her other books; they may even make you want to visit and explore the rugged Cornish or Welsh coastlines for yourself. This book is a treat you owe yourself!

Summary: The three Drew children go on quest for a magical grail.
Review: I loved Susan Cooper's Over Sea, Under Stone. It has feeling, magic, suspense, adventure and friendship all rolled into one amazing book. Writing like this, I have not seen since The Chronicles of Narnia. Beautifully written, and very absorbing. Once you start, you can't stop till the whole thing is done!

Summary: This book was an exiting book full of suspense and adventure
Review: Over Sea, Under Stone is about three children hunting for King Author's Holy Grail. Their names are Barney, Simon, and Jane. They have to find the Grail before the evil side does and they'll need Great-Uncle Merry's help since he knows more about it and the evil side is afraid of him. I like this book because it is full of suspense and adventure. Especially near the end when the bad guys are right behind them after they had found the Grail. You would never guess that Merry would be waiting in a speedboat to rescue them. There were many times that the map leading to the Grail was almost stolen from them by the bad guys. When Simon was running from Bill and Merry sped by and picked him up in a car. All in all Over Sea, Under Stone is a good book because it is full of suspense and adventure.

Review: It is a terrific, adventerous story. My favorite part is when Simon was chased by Bill and another man. It is later stated that the other man might have been the vicar. It is an exellent story for thrill readers. It is intense. It may be long but it is so interesting. I chose the book because of Acelerated Reading and now love this book.
