Summary: The only way to go....
Review: I bought my 10 real book, because it was recommedned to me at an SAT workshop. I will never regret spending the money. Since it gives you 10 real, used before SAT's it is most helpful to the first time test taker to learn the format, mainly the fact that you shouldn't answer every question on the SAT. I took the November 2000 test, and I actually saw an analogy question I had seen before in my 10 Real book. (This is because all SAT questions are recycled). The book also contains strategies. If nothing else, give your friends and family a test you have already practiced with, and let them give it a try to see how smart they are. It will make you feel better. I highly recommend this book to anyone, especially a first time tester with at least 2-3 weeks for practice. I have used most of the other SAT prep books, and this is king of the hill, no need buying the others. Good Luck!

Summary: I got a 1580 because of this book.
Review: The only way to "study" for the SAT is to practice taking the tests, and there is no better way to practice than to take actual tets and find your actual score. Other test prep places are overpriced and useless. You can get them all in one with this book. If you read the lessons, you will find that the book is honest and teaches exactly what the test prep places teach. This book is really all you need to maximize your SAT score.

Summary: Forget classes, get this book
Review: I found out that the only way to take the SAT was to learn HOW to take the SAT. This book will give you 10 chances to take the test so that you can learn the crucial secrets when it comes down to taking the actual test. 10 Real SATs teaches you secrets to unlock each question in all of the subject areas. I mainly used this book to work on my timing/pacing for the test which is a key component of the SAT. With more colleges relying on test scores, this book is invaluable!

Summary: From 1170 to 1370!
Review: My score wen't from an 1170 to a 1370. I only studied for a week before my second test date due to final exams. I did 6 of the 10 tests, and the highest I scored was a 1350. My first SAT was 600 in verbal and 570 in math. My last one was 690 in verbal and 680 in math. I plan to break 1400 now. This book has given me the chance to get into much better colleges with much more ease. It's a worthy investment! (one of my friends broke 1400 on his first try thanks to the book!)

Summary: Every High School Student Should Buy This!
Review: This book is very good for preparation of the SAT. My daughter is really happy with the effect of the book because it provided with really actual examples and a lot of practice problems. All these all the key issue to raise scores in the SAT.

Summary: Perfect for Rookies and Veterans
Review: This is it. This is the SAT Bible. In preparing for the SATs, ou lack this book then you lack the best exercises out there.

The first half of the book is "strategies". These are useless to any veteran, but are a good read for those who have never taken an actual SAT.

The second half is the best though. These are 10 SATs, just like the title says. They remove the section that is used for surveying and include the answer key and grading scale. If you have only taken the PSAT you have to practice these, the SAT is MUCH MUCH harder. If you have taken the SAT, I recommend taking the tests as practice (my score improved each time).

If you don't have the time to sit down and take a full practice at least comb through and identify useful vocab or practice your weak sections. This thing is the best.

Summary: Ideal SAT Prep Tool
Review: In my opinin, "10 Real Sats" is the most effective book you can find for preparing for the SAT I's. The first half of the book contains all the review material that you will need to prepare for the math and verbal sections in a clear and concise format. As long as you have been fairly concious during your high school english and math classes, this book reviews all major concepts that you will need to know...how do I know? Well, because I took the SATs several months ago, and because this book, as it lets you know many times, IS made by the test-makers. Therefore, it ACTUALLY DOES contain the most accurate and specific information. The review consists of concept outlines, example problems with full explanations, practice problems, and how to answer each type of question. And you know what? It is VERY true to the test itself.
As for the 10 real SATs, they are, indeed, ten real SATs. I believe that this is really the best way to prepare, because it familiarizes you with the several different types of questions (saved me LOTS of time on the test becuase I didn't have to puzzle over directions very long), and allows you to concentrate on the portions that you feel the least confident about. You may not end up actually taking all 10, but it's nice to know that they're available, and that you can pass them on to future generations of SAT scholars.
In short, this book boosted my knowledge and my confidence, helping me to succeed beyond my hopes on the SAT I. My math score (math being my weak point) went up 140 points from the PSAT, totally owing to this book. I highly recommend it as a very unique, accurate, and effective prep tool.

Summary: GET THIS BOOK AND FORGET ALL THE OTHERS!
Review: Yep. Who would have thought that the big secret to mastering the SAT was merely working with the book by the makers of the test? I'm a minority student who comes from a poor lower-middle class family. This would have to be the best $10 I've ever invested! After taking the test, I scored high enough to qualify for acceptance into Morehouse College (dubbed the "black Harvard University").

I highly recommend that if you're going to take the SAT I, grab this book. Your friends will be wasting hundreds, perhaps even thousands of dollars getting test prep courses and SAT vocabulary books that are essentially dull and useless. The best way to practice is to practice using old versions of the test, and that is why this book is the answer.

I also recommend buying a full-version copy of the demo CD-ROM that comes along with it. The videos and timed practice exams are fully worth it and get you prepared as if you were actually taking the test. After you taken the test on paper using the sheets in this guide book about 3-4 times, you'll be fully armed and ready for the SAT.

The only set back, which explains why I only gave four stars, is that this book had a misprint section with incorrect answers and I had to goto to the College Board website to download them in PDF. Aside from that, this book is great.

It even goes so far as to explain the make-up of the test. I didn't know there was an experimental section until I read this. Now, the book says that one would not be able to tell which was the experimental section, but judging from relative difficulty on test, I think one could easily tell it was the hardest one. Had I known this before, I would have been more confident in my testing. Even though I felt I did miserably, I in fact ended up scoring pretty decently.

Parents get this for your kids. You won't regret it. I'm giving my copy to my little brother and sister to help them get into UCLA and Cal.

Summary: Now Officially worthless.
Review: This book is now officially worthless because there will be no more old SAT test taking. Do not buy this book if you have or are a son or daughter taking the SAT. The same goes for all non New SAT. Anything that is NEW SAT is good.
