Rating: Summary: I Loved it! Review: This is the first book out of Brian Jacques series that I have ever read. I continued to read the others in the series but I always came back to this one. I think it was because the story was so touching, so heroic, and it left an imprint in your mind about how morals and loyalty should be kept.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! A VERY sad ending, but wonderful! Review: It's not one of the best Redwall novels, but it's VERY good. The part I didn't like was that vermin wielded Martin's sword for most of the book (same dislike about Martin the Warrior). Mr. Jacques has done better, but overall, I LOVED this book!
Rating: Summary: The Best Book In The Mossflower Series Review: Salamandastron is my favorite book in the whole library. You simply cannot put it down. Ferahgo the Assassin wants the legendary Salamandastron all to himself, but first he has to defeat it's number one problem. Urthstripe the mighty badger lord of Salamandastron!!! While that is going on on one side of Mossflower, the mice at the abbey are trying to cure a dangerous, deadly fever that has almos all the abbymice in the infirmary. While still another adventure is going on. An otter "Thrugg" and a baby doormouse are off to the mountains to find the cure for this fever. The Icetor Flowers, which are heavily garded on one of the highest mountains in Mossflower, by a very hungry Eagle!!! This is one of those books that makes you jump up and down for joy when you finish the last page! -Eden Hafernik

Rating: Summary: The Best Book I Ever Read Review: Salamandastron is the best book I have ever read. For one thing, there are three adventures going on at once. Salamandastron is being defended from a group of evil rodents, while Redwall Abbey is suffering from "dry-ditch fever", and an otter and a baby mouse are out to find the herbs to save Redwall's inhabitants. If I could only have one book, this would be the book. I am now eight years old and I read this when I was seven.William (keonassoc.aol.com) Mill Valley, California
Rating: Summary: A Classic Story Of the Fight Between Good and Evil. Review: The tale of salamandastron is a simple one. An evil weasel warlord wishes to gain power and wealth by conquering the legendary stronghold Salamandastron. Mixed in some returning friends new allies some traveling and you have the basic idea of the story. The writing is not excellent but the whole idea of this world on which the dominating creatures are animals is very intruiging. Brian Jacques weaves a very good story for young children. While one of the main faults of the story is that it is predictable. It is incredibly similar to so many of the other books in the series. So much time is spent talking about food and other smaller matters. But it remains fun. The only other fault is that characters are either good or evil. It is a monochrome world. Black and white good and evil. There seems to be no gray area as there truely would be. But for an enjoyable book. This is definatly one to read.
Rating: Summary: a batle between good and evil and life and death Review: best book i have ever read. every page led to another turn in the plot making it impossible to put down.
Rating: Summary: It's a great book! Review: This was a great book! The best in the sieres. Brian Jacques did a magnificent job! The characters are described very well and are very easy to relate to. This is also one of the most adventurous books in the sieres. The battles are described in great detail. The book is so suspenceful that you are on the edge of your seat. After picking this book up, you will not be able to put it down. This is a must read for ALL Brian Jacques and adventure fans. If you like great literature, you will LOVE this book. If you do not read this book, you will be missing out on a great story! Buy it TODAY!
Rating: Summary: I loved it!!! Review: I had heard a few people talk about this Redwall series but I'm not usually to easy to please. After the first few pages I could tell this was not just another volume in any old fantasy series. This was awesome!
I mean, any book that can make you believe and care about rodents in an abbey in the middle of nowhere has got to be something special. This was the most vivid, descriptive, engrossing book I had ever read. It was finished in short order. Needless to say, I now buy every Redwall book that comes out.
The feasts, the battles, and especially the characters just leapt right out at me. I told a few of my friends about this amazing series and I can't think of a one who wasn't hooked. This was the only literary universe I had ever found myself wanting to escape to. The school library had multiple reservations on every book available! If that's not reason for praise, then I'm not sure what is.
Rating: Summary: Heroic mice fight vile vermin in this thrilling adventure!!! Review: Salamandastron is a much better book than any other Redwall book I have read. The good characters in this book, the creatures of the woodlands (mice, squirrels, badgers, hares, etc.), were portrayed as being more like everyday people who were fighting everyday problems, not to mention protecting the entire country from a imposing warlord. The characters in the other books were just fighting the distinct "bad guy". The vermin (the bad creatures) also had ordinary problems which helped bring the book closer to home. The characters also go through many hardships and setbacks to reach their desired goal, another plus. The setting of the book was in the beautiful Mossflower Woods and on the shores of a great ocean. All of the different species of creatures in this book had to work together to protect their homeland. Chris Mueller. Chanhassen Minnesota
