Rating: Summary: Pictures of a fantasic world painted by words. Review: As of many book I have read this is one out of three that have kept me reading for days straight. The story is complex as well as detailed. The story grabs you and just won't let go. The scenes and settings and characters are well discribed in your mind. Even some of the smells and tastes can bedescribed so well as if you were there. This book was awesome as well as powerful and I hope Mr. Nix goes on to making more books as good as Sabriel.
Rating: Summary: AMAZING!!!! Best book I have read all year! Review: Sabriel is one of the best books that I have ever read! It completly enthrolls you in the ever devolping plot and the need to learn more about the wonderous main character. THe plot is a little complicated. I had to read it twice to actually catch everything, but it really is a wonderful book! I would recomend it to anyone who likes an action packed novel and loves fantasy.
Rating: Summary: Best fanatsy in years Review: Garth nIx's vivid descripsions of Sabriel's world are amazing. The classic story of good and evil only the evil is already dead. A must read for any fantasy lover!
Rating: Summary: What an incredible, imaginative, and totally awesome book! Review: I really enjoyed reading this book! Great plot, wonderfully developed characters - Overall an awesome book, complete with real-life randomness! It was AWESOME.
Rating: Summary: A great book that is filled with fiction and fantasy Review: I'm an 11 year old fith grader that absolutly adored this book.I am not exactly a great reader, but I couldn't put the book down one second.Right now I'm praying Nix will come out with a sequal, and soon!
Rating: Summary: Not just for teenagers Review: I picked up this book on accident and couldnt put it down. Great story and wonderful Female lead in Sabriel. Had to give it to other friends when done now they love it too. Just got Shade's Children cant wait to dive in. Write More!! I loved it.
Rating: Summary: This is a great book! Review: If you've read the plot description-- which is something like "Sabriel travels to the Old Kingdom to rescue her necromancer father from the Land of the Dead"-- you might think that this is a pretty junky horror-fantasy novel. Trust me, it's not! Yes, it's got un-dead monsters and things like that, but when you're into the story you're totally believing it and you don't stop for even one moment and say, "Wow, this is so trashy." Instead, the story is very beautiful and believable. Unlike many books, I could really feel the danger of the situations and I even felt afraid for the characters. This book looks long, but it moves very quickly. The unusual mix of technology and magic reminds me of Philip Pullman's "The Golden Compass", but other than that I don't see why everyone compares these two books. They're not similar in any other ways I can think of, but I would say that if you liked The Golden Compass, read Sabriel, and vice versa. I thought TGC was much better in fact, but Sabriel was still great. I really liked Sabriel as a character, and I loved the idea of the necromancer's bells-- brilliant! The cover art by Leo and Diane Dillon is beautiful. I hope Garth Nix is planning to write a sequel, or at least another book set in this world-- something like Tamora Pierce's Wild Magic series, which are a different story but let you know what happened to Alanna. It could be Sabriel's daughter, a future Abhorsen? It seems like some things were left undone. They never went back and saved those children, or helped the fishing village. Did they? Recommended for ages 13- up, especially girls. I am 15. PS. No, my e-mail address is not varied from Sabriel's name. I chose it before I read this book.
Rating: Summary: Best fantasy book of last few years Review: This is the best fantasy book that I've read in the last years. It is original, yet has all of the classic elements of the quest story in a new form. The elements of the bells, necromancy, and a young woman growing into her own all ring with glory.
Rating: Summary: It was very well written! Review: When i read i was very captured by the book. I am only 11 and i feel in love with it. I don't think it was as good as the Golden Compass but it came close.
Rating: Summary: Struggle to overcome evil; Nice Read Review: At first read I hated the book, but the second time around I fell in love with Sabriel, who had all the heart in the world to save her father. If you liked SABRIEL, try CROWN DUEL.
