Rating: Summary: Believe Me, You'll Like It! Review: This book was great! It's about a girl named Jenna that has to deal with the ups and downs of life. She works at Gladstone's shoe store and takes a trip to Texas with the owner, Madaline Gladstone. This trip is tragic, yet humorous. You may think that Jenna is an ordinary girl but she has to deal with her dad's alcoholism, the loss of her good friend and her grandma's Alzheimer's disease. I cut one star only because I thought that the ending could be a little more detailed. Other than that, it was a great book, and I highly recommend it! Seventh Grade Student
Rating: Summary: Succeed With Your Problems Review: Rules of the Road is a great book if you're into reading about someone with a lot of problems just trying to succeed in life. Her main problems are her father's heavy drinking problems and her grandmother's Alzheimer's. She works at a shoestore. She finally gets to get away from her problems when she is hired to be Mrs. Gladstone's driver and assistant. Mrs. Gladstone is going to Texas to announce her retirement. Jenna meets people like Alice Lovett and Harry Bender. Harry is considered the best shoesalesman in the world. Jenna considers him like a father. On the trip she learns a lot about life. When they have the stockholders' meeting Mrs. Gladstone would not retire because she did not want Elden to do what he planned to do. She was afraid of who Elden would sell it to.
Rating: Summary: The Trip of a Lifetime Review: Rules of the Road by Joan Bauer is an awesome book. There are many real life problems in this book. Jenna's dad is an alcoholic, her grandma has Alzheimer's, and her parents are split up. The owner of the shoe store she works at asks Jenna to drive her to Texas. On their way down, they stop at other stores owned by the manager. This book is funny, and has a lot of adventure. It is a great book for all ages.
Rating: Summary: The Greatest Book I Ever Hear Review: I think this is a good book for any age to read. It feels like you're going in to her life more and more as you read. In this book there is journey, sadness and a little bit of reality. I would like to tell you about the journey that happens to Jenna Boller. She goes to Texas with her boss, Mrs. Gladstone. Jenna has a sister named Faith, and her mom. Her dad has a drinking problem and Jenna thinks she is the cause of it. That is all I am telling you. Now you have to get the book to find out what happens next. I think it is a great and wonderful book.
Rating: Summary: Rules of the Road Review: Rules of the Road by Joan Bauer was a great book. I highly recommend it. At first I didn't think I would like the book that much. It seemed boring. Once I got to the middle of the book though I liked it a lot. I got to learn about some of Jenna's personal problems. Jenna's dad is a drunk and her grandmother has Alzheimer's disease. The book was very good and I hope you get a chance to read it.
Rating: Summary: My Idea Review: I gave the book 3 stars because I didn't really like it that much because her dad is a drunk. It's about a girl named Jenna. She lives with her mom and her little sister named Faith. Jenna works at a shoe store called Gladstone's Shoes. The person who owns Gladstone's asks Jenna to drive her to Texas. When Jenna gets back home, she finds out that her phone number was changed because her dad kept on calling while he was drunk. Later on she goes to her friend's house and Jenna's dad shows up and takes Jenna for a ride. Now read the story and find out what happens next.
Rating: Summary: Rules of the Road Review: Rules of the Road was a great book! I recommend this book to anyone who likes a fun adventurous book. In this book a girl named Jenna takes a trip to many different shoe stores with the owner of Gladstone's Shoes. Jenna faces many problems in this book. Some problems are her father's alcholism, her Grandma's memory loss and losing a friend. Read this book and you will go on a fun adventure.
Rating: Summary: Life of a Chicago Girl Review: Rules of the Road is about a girl named Jenna who has many obstacles to overcome. For instance, her father's alcoholism and having to go on a trip with her boss, Mrs. gladstone, a stuck-up lady. Jenna learns many lessons and becomes stronger and feels better about herself. I learned many things and how you have to stick up for yourself in life and put up with people you don't necessarily like. This is a great book and I definitely recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Rockin' Real Life Book Review: This book was a good book. It was very realistic. It was about a strong teenage girl going on a road trip with her boss to Texas. She makes new friends and faces many problems. Her boss is about to face retirement but doesn't want to. Back at home in Chicago, her father is fighting alcoholism and her gram is fighting Alzheimer's disease. I only gave this book 4 stars because of its sadness but I do strongly recommend this book to anyone who is interested.
Rating: Summary: Rules of The Road Review: I liked this book because I can relate to it. I can relate to it because in the book one of the main character's close friends dies. One of my close relatives died and I handled it the way that the main character did. The author told the story as if she were a third person watching it. This book has great detail. The author explains what she is talking about so that you can make a mental image in your head. I recommend you read this book because it was a great book and it had a lot of realistic issues in it. I rate this book 4 stars because at the end of a chapter the author would leave you wondering about what was going to happen next (suspense). In the end, this book turns out to be great!
