Rating: Summary: Sarah Bishop Review: Unlike some of Scott O'Dell's works, this book does not drag on forever. The main character, Sarah, loses her family and must go through the Revolutionary War alone and wanted by the British. This book is excellent in giving details about the war that we as the public would not know, such as the death prison ships captured prisoners were taken to. The book documents the struggle of a girl to find meaning in a life where she has suffered innumerable losses. A refreshing book to open your eyes about life.
Rating: Summary: A True Story of a Young Girl Review: When Sarah's father dies she is forced to care for herself. She is constantly running from both the Rebels and the British. Sarah then makes a home of her own in the wilderness. This true story about a young girl really taught me about the past. I learned about some of the terrifying things that happened during the Revolutionary War. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning about this time period or who loves adventure.
Rating: Summary: Will change your perspective forever! Review: You've always thought that during the Revolutionary War, Patriots were good and the Tories were stubborn people who liked the law just a little bit too much, right? Well Sarah Bishop will change that idea ans make you feel sorry for the Loyalists. The Americans treated them horribly. They tarred and feathered Sarah's Tory father, leading to his death, and they burn down their home. She was left all alone to fend for herself after her brother died (he was captured by the British and put on a war ship). She finds a cave and makes it her home, turning her back on anything having to do with the war.
Rating: Summary: A thrilling, unpredictable novel. Review: _Sarah Bishop_ was a fun book to read. You didn't know what was going to happen next but all the events related to each other and they made sense. You couldn't put it down because there was always someone chasing Sarah. It is sad when everybody dies, but for the most part, I think reading it is worth while.
