Rating: Summary: Typical Boys own Stuff Review: Heinlein goes back to his roots with a return of the hero. Very enjoyable although the typical Heinlein rightist dogma does crop up now and again.
Rating: Summary: among his best Review: what can i say that has not been said.this is a response to the person calling this book "heinlein's decent into madness" do you realize that this book has probably started more people reading sci-fi for the first time than most and should be credited as such.while somewhat pedestrian it still outshines most books in that it inspires people to think and "be all that they can be" it also raises some very interesting paradoxes(?)to keep you interested and wanting more.isn't that a great thing? review your review.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic blend of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Adventure Review: A true adventure of epic proportions that ties in a larger universe than Heinlein usually wrote about with his already huge epic which culminates in the Lazarus Long cycle. This is the book that got me hooked on Sci Fi and Fantasy oh so many years ago. I have read it since countless times as one of the very few books that I can read more than once. As you live, LIVE! be the motto of this book.
Rating: Summary: Adventures and a little more Review: If you want to read a book full of adventures, this is your choice. But I wouldn't recomment it if I hadn't seen something more in it. I liked the end, you can read it in different ways. I won't tell them, but if you read it, look for alternative interpretations. Really not bad.
Rating: Summary: A good time is had by all Review: Not a masterpiece, but a thoroughly fun read. One of those fun books to find when you want to read something light but entertaining.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, excellent book Review: Heinlein has written some great books, and this one is no exception. I just read it for the first time, and I will have to read it again in a couple months, as I am sure there is much more to pick up the second time. The book starts out as an excellently written narrative, funny and interesting. Then all of a sudden the Hero is pulled into an intense adventure with great swashbuckling. At first look, the book seems to have changed from a serious monologue to a whimsical fairy tale, but as you read on, Heinlein fantastically introduces levels and levels of depth while weaving a beautiful story. At the end it will leave you shattered, reevaluating life. _Glory Road_ is an excellent book. Read it. You'll be glad you did.
Rating: Summary: Incredible Review: "Glory Road" was one of the best Heinlein books ever written, and he's written some amazing stuff. There was nothing about it that I didn't love, from the grand journey to the mystery of the black box. If you like Heinlein and you've missed this one somehow, then what are you waiting for? It's kind of hard to find around here, so this place is a great deal.
Rating: Summary: If you liked Farnham's Freehold... Review: The very first portion of this book (a few pages) reads like the Heinlein who was head and shoulders above all other science fiction writers. Then it disintegrates into mush. This book is closer to Farnham's Freehold than it is to Waldo. At some point in his career, something happened to Heinlein's mind that altered the character and quality of his writing. Exactly when this happened is difficult to say, but this may have been the book in which it became undeniable. Glory Road could conceivably be used to mark the beginning of Heinlein's descent into madness.
Rating: Summary: A swashbuckling Sci-Fi/Fantasy that redefines the term HERO! Review: While Oscar Gordon reflects on his eventful life, he answers a personal ad that appears to be written just for him. His quest to rescue the Egg of the Pheonix takes him through worlds of beauty and adventure. proving that the Glory Road " ..is paved not with stones, but with boulders." Heinlein masterfully blends the real with the fantastic, and shows us just what a hero's job description includes. This is one of the Grand Master's best and one of my all-time favorites
Rating: Summary: The GRANDEST Adventure Review: Take a walk, or RUN down the Glory Road of adventure that never stops. It always makes you think about what really matters in your valuation of life. Slay those dragons, grab that beautiful wench, grab the fortune of a lifetime, then stop...and wonder ...why? Great escapism. Read, read, read. I've read it at least 25 times and will continue to read it til I finally take that final walk down my own Glory Road, amen
