Review: This handheld is WONDERFUL. Especially for the price - and the price keeps falling! I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about when they said there was no light on this. There is a backlight if you chose to use it.Anway... heaps of memory - and it is expandable! You can purchase memory sticks and add ons to make it an MP3, etc. Comes with applications out the wazoo, and I've added TONS of books, etc to it - and am not even close to using half the memory. So, buy some screen protectors and don't beat it up - you're not going to outgrow this one for a long time! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! Did I mention I love it?

Summary: Great for everyone!
Review: I'm a high school freshman. I was looking for a palm in which I could put school applications and games into. This palm, PEG-S360, was the one for me. It has features and 16MB memory that on a Palm you cannot get for that price.
Appearance
First of all, it was comfortable in my small hands and was light enough so it didn't feel bulky but not so light that you feel like you could drop it. It also came with a really nice heavy-duty stylus. I write with a lot of graffiti and I was worried about my screen showing that, like my mom's Palm m500. The stylus glides very smoothly. Surprisingly, scratch marks didn't show and still doesn't 6 months later. The "plastic" does not feel cheap like some may say. I have also had NO resolution problems. I have even used it during a blackout without having difficulty. I find that the contrast is great, with several shades of gray available. No problems using it. It does what I want it to, turns off when I press off, on when I press on. It works fine! I can't ask for more than that! Features
I actually don't use the Jog Dial that much, I just use the stylus and the scroll bar. But it is there for your convience. I found that the applications included were great. The address book has enough room for everything and WordToGo is included. I like that, I sometimes write essays and transfer it to my Sony so in school I can refer to them. The battery life is also pretty good. It charges quickly, so for charging so fast, I can't really complain about the battery life. It has two expansion slots, but the problem is, except for the memory stick media, not much is out there for the Sony, just the Palm. I'd recommend bringing the Sony when you purchase software. Also, all Sonys have MP3 capability, which other entry levels do not. HOTSYNCING
At first, I had a hard time with it! But you get the hang of it really quickly. It includes just the cable, which wasn't really a big deal for me. However, I later got the cradle in a bargain bin at Staples! Software
Do not waste your money on the cards. They most likely won't fit! I use the CD's and I have 4 applications on my Palm and runs like it did with just the standard features. Overall, I'd buy this over a palm anyday. There wasn't a problem with CD software and you get WAY more for your money.

Summary: 2 important problems that keep it from being great
Review: If it weren't for these two problems this PDA would be perfect. First problem: Most of the time it is really hard to see what is displayed on the screen. The reason for this problem is that the screen is shiny and reflects the user's face. This makes it hard to read at just about any lighting. The best lighting for this PDA is a somewhat low lighting so that there is less reflection. Even then it can be hard to read at times. As a comparision I don't remember this problem with my brother's Palm PDA, so I don't believe this is a common problem with most PDA's. Second problem: It doesn't have a buildt in light. Because of this it's almost impossible to read the screen at very low lighting. This just makes the viewing problems twice as bad because you are constantly trying to find the correct lighting to view the screen. Too much light or too little light means that you might as well not use your PDA. It's too bad because besides these 2 problems it's a great PDA. It's kind of like buying a great computer but having a monitor that has terrible resolution and refresh rates. You can still use it and it'll run great but it's a pain to use. My brother's Palm PDA doesn't have these 2 problems and his was only the cheaper Palms. This really irritates me because I like my Sony Clie better but my brother's Palm is easier read. Hopefully, this isn't a problem with all Sony PDA's but if it is I'm definitely buying a different company next time.

Summary: Attractive, efficient and great value for money
Review: Im delighted with this entry level PDA. As always, Sony has a great looking product with everything you need on it - and more. Used to own the Palm III xe - the Sony beats it handsdown. Couple of issues - the screen resolution, while just a number (160 x 160) is a little poor....Instinctively, I was looking for the screen backlight in the hope visibility would improve. Other than that - typical palm navigation - the jog dial is useful. The packaged software - a lot of it expires in 30 days ...you will have to pay afterwards !

Summary: Lacks "hold" button...
Review: I have a PEG-S320, the precursor to the S360. The clie is a good value, in many ways better than what Palm has to offer, but it has a couple of design flaws. Sony can be kind of arrogant in its cost-cutting: - There is no "recharge" indicator LED on the unit or on the power adapter. There is the lighning bolt that appears when it is turned on, but an indicator light on the power plug would be useful too. - There is no hold button, so the Clie spontaneously discharges itself in your pocket. This has happened to me a number of times. For some reason the buttons are just especially easy to press by mistake. - In my particular case, the Clie stopped working after about 6 months of light use. It just would not turn on. Sony tried having me recharge/reset it, but since there is no indicator light, there is no way of knowing if the problem is with the AC adapter or with the unit...

Summary: Maybe Would Have Liked It If The Power Turned ON
Review: Mine arrived as scheduled, but the power would not turn on. I had it charged for over 8 hours, and I felt the Clie get warm (so the battery was charging). After letting it charge, it would not power on. I did soft and hard resets and called Sony Tech Support. It was good support 24/7, but the tech said that he'd "run across the problem before." - Seemed like he was understating the number of times this happened. My advice is that this is a great product, but I'm going to buy it at a local retailer to make sure this won't happen again. I read on cnet.com another person had the same problem with both of the S360's he bought.

Summary: Review of Peg-S360
Review: Only thing I don't like about this unit is the screen resolution. At 160x160 you can't get enough text on the screen to efficiently read ebooks. In this price range, 160x160 is standard, so, it's not a surprise. However, the 415 Clie did have a highres display, but did NOT have 16MB Storage internal. I've got about 12MB in use by productivity apps and a few games. Most of it's being used by Docs-To-Go and a Dictionary, both of which are not very necessary but are handy to have. PRO's: LithIon Battery (rechargeable), IndiGlo type Backlight
CON'S: Screen Resolution, hard to find accessories (clie brand isn't widely carried like other PALM devices).

Summary: Mis-advertised
Review: First Sony product that was a big disappointment. Perhaps it would be satisfactory if I'd been able to get it to work, meaning hot-sync to my computer. After wasting a lot of time, shipping it back to Sony for examination, getting it back, then wasting more time with their technical people, someone there decided that since my computer was originally set up as a Windows 95 machine, and that even though it was upgraded to 98 a year ago, some elements of 95 might remain and therefore the Clie was incompatible with it. Their recommendation that I buy a new computer so my Clie would work with it pushed the limits of outrageousness. A little research showed that Palm and Visor products do work with 95, so those companies assure me there would be no incompatibility. Sony--why don't you advertise this peculiarity so other people don't waste so much of their time and yours! Roger

Summary: Great PIM for the price
Review: If you're looking for a PIM, and a documents to go platform, the Clie S360 is great. The screen size is bigger than the new Palm devices. The internal rechargable battery has excellent life (better than AAA's). You also get plenty of memory, and the option of memory sticks if you use lots document. I would caution however, this is not the internet and multi-media device like the high end Clie's. Add-ons are few and expensive (if you need a camera/GPS/etc. I recommend a Handsrpring). I bought mine for PIM, using some basic engineering calc's from Excel, and occasional games. After 1 week I've been impressed. I've been using it constantly to get everything transfered and set-up. The screen hasn't hurt my eyes and I didn't need to recharge the battery until last night (on 1/2).

Review: I bought it to use it as dictionary/translator but the functions are much more, I think that the best advantage is the 16MB and the expand card. You can store everything !!!!! if you dont care aboutcolour screen buy it it's the only choice
