Summary: Laptop users - think twice!
Review: I bought my REX to solve the problem of carrying regular size PDA when all I need is my telephone book and my notes - like shopping list or a short memo . I would feel kind of stupid to look thru my Palmheld being in a veggie aisle in a supermarket, so the size is a GREAT plus. Any of the existing PDAs are bulky and I think everybody who ever had one would agree with me ( even superslim 3Com models owners). I think it worth every dollar I spent on my REX since it cost almost nothing and it comes with a docking station, which cost more then entire kit when sold separately ( which makes no sense for me). It has a leather case, which I found very attractive, memory is more then enough for its functions and Xircom has pretty decent tech support ( but not an 1-800 number, so be ready to pay long distance). BUTÉ. I have a laptop and when I was going to buy it I thought " how nice that I would keep my COMM port free and will stick it into my PCMCIA slot to sync it", but I never ever was able to do this, I called tech support and they told me, that REX does not support PC card slots made by several hardware makers Ð I can tell you for sure that Texas Instruments 1131 card bus controller is one of them I wish I had a list of conflict hardware before I bought it. So if you want to use PC Card slot for sync Ð check your hardware manufacturer first, otherwise youÕll have to use cradle ( minus some space on your desk and plus an additional cable) and youÕll loose your port. But overall I found it very useful, dirt cheap, and the size will make you forget about all its cons. About previous comment Ð there is a possibility to import your Outlook contacts and calendar into REX desktop software, but if you make updates in your Outlook youÕll have to import a new version again and again and again. I have 2 organizer software on my computer now Ð maybe not very convenient, but you can live with that. I think it may bother you if you have 2 different organizers synced with one computer. If you are going to use REX only Ð you may use its software Ð I found it pretty and convenient. Backlit display, however, would be a big plus, but again what do you want for this $. IÕm sure that paper notepad in a leather cover would cost more.

Summary: REX does 95% of what any organizer should do.
Review: REX and its included Starfish organization software is a flexible and easy-to-use organizer. Only the requirement that all input be via computer to REX prevents me from giving it five stars. I use Schedule+ as my base organizer software and find that importing its data to the REX version of Starfish's TruSync software is simple and painless, as is the synchronizing download to REX. The current price of $50 for the REX, its docking station, and its software CD is an amazing bargain. The ability to load any text including whole stories and books (in aproximately 200K chunks)into the Memo section is a plus for me, as is the ability to use REX as a stand-alone alarm clock. I get around the update-from-computer-only restriction by keeping notes on the pad carried in the included leather case until I return to the office and enter them into Schedule+. I would recommend REX to anyone who already uses Schedule+, Sidekick, Outlook, or any other PC organizer software as a simple way to take your calendar, contact book, todo lists, and other notes and references with you in the smallest possible package!

Summary: Okay but
Review: This is a very handy organizer. However, an alternative should have been provided so that data can be entered directly to the REX without the need for a PC.

Summary: All my 3 needs in one device!
Review: I was recently robbed. Lost my Organizer (180U$S), all data (7 years of information), and the criminals got all my info. So, I needed a cheap device, that force me to have a backup, and with some kind of password to access data. Then I found the 29.99U$S Rex 3, and my life changed. It comes with a usefull leather envelope that lets you store some cards where to write the information you get on the go. Write it down later on your PC and REX and forget about losing information. ADVICE: If you work with Outlook you must purchase also TrueSync Plus for Outlook. A must have 1 step synchronization application. The original soft you get with the Rex needs to be loaded with the Outlook information first, and then to the Rex. (two steps)

Summary: Very useful because it's small enough to take everywhere
Review: I had been using an Apple Newton for a few years and wanted to upgrade to another personal organizer. The Rex is nice because it's incredibly small size makes it so easy to take with you. I keep in with me almost whereever I go and it's a great comfort to know that I have contact information with me everywhere. The memo storage feature is also nice: I use it to store various tidbits of information and it has replaced stacks of Post-It(tm) Notes all over my desk. I have a Toshiba Libretto that I mainly use to program the Rex. I also bought the docking station but it doesn't get much use because my main computer is short of serial ports. Two drawbacks: There is no input capability whatsoever; it must be programmed from software on a PC. The proprietary software that comes with it is the only way to program it without spending more money. At this price it would even be a worthy companion to a PalmPilot.

Summary: Very versitile
Review: While small and light this organizer is Extremely useful. It has all the storage functions of a palm pilot (but a much smaller memory) and as low a price as a regular organizer. I believe that this is one of the most handy name, date, address, and phone number storage organizers around. Its only flaws are that it has very confusing directions and a small memory.

Summary: Exellent product
Review: It is by far the best product I have pruchase the last two years. It works great with Outlook and I can track all my 1'000 Access-Business adresses all the time with me. For me I have purchase 2 extra sets just as reserve. For my business I need 20 - 50 more of these (I will give this to my best customers with all the product data-s in it) Does any body know where I could get more of Rex-3 with IS ? (In December I was desperately seeking the Rex-3 version in LA, nobody seems to sell this exellent tool any more.)

Summary: A must have!
Review: I recently purchased a Sharp Y-180 organizer for 39.99 to replace my old Sharp 32K thinking it would be great to have the ability to back-up my data to my PC. Only to find the software not only cumbersome to use, but unable to import information from any other program. I could upgrade the software and get a version that is able to import from Outlook, but at an additional cost of 69.99 plus shipping. Back to the store it went.

Then I discovered the REX! Easy to install, import, synchronize and use. I had mine set-up and running in less an hour. For those of us that want our information readily available and don't want to spend a small fortune (Palm) to have it REX is the answer. If you are looking for a Palm type item, this is not the PDA for you. The only downside is not being able to add new info directly into it. But until I'm willing to spend 169+ for the next version, I'll just use my old Sharp as an electronic memo pad for my updates and as a calculator.

Summary: Clunky, cumbersome, buggy software cripple it
Review: I received one of these as a gift recently. My first thought was "this is exactly what I need." I often have to scramble from one city to another, often at the last minute and it's easy to miss important meetings.

If the software worked with Meeting Maker, I'd be happy, but it doesn't and for some reason when I convert from Meeting Maker to Outlook, the software hangs during the Outlook import. So basically, the thing is useless for me. Starfish and Xircom apparently have no interest in helping me out. Too bad, because it's really a great idea, a small, inexpensive, essentially disposable gizmo with a lot of memory.

Summary: I'm Impressed!
Review: I bought the Rex for my husband for Christmas. He loves it but I love it even more. After contemplating purchasing an expensive PDA, I decided this would work great for my needs. I ordered one for myself!
