Summary: Synchronizes with Outlook
Review: I have a Palm V that syncronizes with MS Outlook, so I figured that for 29 dollars I could buy the Rex, and sync it with all the info from Outlook. This way, I could choose to carry a tiny, stripped down PDA with the same data as in my Palm V.

Turns out that the sofware required to sync with outlook costs 40 dollars, and is not included. Without this extra purchase- you are stuck using the REX desktop software.

Other than that, 29 dollars is well below cost, especially with the included docking station, and the Rex has a clear screen (but no backlight) and it is easy to navigate through its basic funtions.

Summary: Synchronizes with Outlook
Review: I have a REX-3 and I regularly synchronize it with MS-Outlook. I never had to buy any software for doing this. The Outlook accessor may need to be downloaded though. Downloads are available from the Starfish website. Whenever I had a problem with synchronization, I found a solution in the Truesync FAQ in the Starfish web site.

Another 3rd party utility that I found helpful is a batch file called 2rex. It breaks up e-text articles into chunks equal to the memo size limitation of Rex. This allows even huge novels to be downloaded to the Rex. I recently downloaded Maugham's "Moon and the Sixpence" on to the Rex.

Summary: Don't leave home without it!
Review: I have had 3 of these baby's over the last few years and love it. I carry it everywhere. Before I leave on a trip I transfer tons of notes about the area, directions, hotel confirmations, restaurants, etc. from websites to the Rex. I have all my phone numbers and addresses with me all the time because it is so small. My "keeper" copies of my files are on my PC at home so even if something happens to my REX I have lost NOTHING!

Summary: Outlook in my pocket!
Review: I like the Rex more than the RexPro precisely because it doesn't allow data entry. Instead, I enter everything into Outlook (where it belongs) using a real keyboard on a real screen. Then, before a trip out of town or to the corner, i replicate Outlook to Rex and I have all my info in my pocket. Wonderful!

Summary: All my 3 needs in one device!
Review: I received one of these as a gift recently. My first thought was "this is exactly what I need." I often have to scramble from one city to another, often at the last minute and it's easy to miss important meetings.

If the software worked with Meeting Maker, I'd be happy, but it doesn't and for some reason when I convert from Meeting Maker to Outlook, the software hangs during the Outlook import. So basically, the thing is useless for me. Starfish and Xircom apparently have no interest in helping me out. Too bad, because it's really a great idea, a small, inexpensive, essentially disposable gizmo with a lot of memory.

Summary: A must have!
Review: I recently purchased a Sharp Y-180 organizer for 39.99 to replace my old Sharp 32K thinking it would be great to have the ability to back-up my data to my PC. Only to find the software not only cumbersome to use, but unable to import information from any other program. I could upgrade the software and get a version that is able to import from Outlook, but at an additional cost of 69.99 plus shipping. Back to the store it went.

Then I discovered the REX! Easy to install, import, synchronize and use. I had mine set-up and running in less an hour. For those of us that want our information readily available and don't want to spend a small fortune (Palm) to have it REX is the answer. If you are looking for a Palm type item, this is not the PDA for you. The only downside is not being able to add new info directly into it. But until I'm willing to spend 169+ for the next version, I'll just use my old Sharp as an electronic memo pad for my updates and as a calculator.

Summary: I'm so happy I bought the Rex
Review: I used to cary around a leather address book with my phone #'s and notes and appointments, it was a pain in the butt to always carry a bulky leather address book around with you. For a long time a wanted a Palm Pilot but relized I didn't need to hold email and for the price for get it! I just wanted it because it sounds like a cool toy. Plus Palm Pilots are bulky and knowing myself I would probably loose it. With the REX I don't even notice its in my pocket. It holds everything my address book use to hold but organizes it much better. -So Nice

Review: I was recently robbed. Lost my Organizer (180U$S), all data (7 years of information), and the criminals got all my info. So, I needed a cheap device, that force me to have a backup, and with some kind of password to access data. Then I found the 29.99U$S Rex 3, and my life changed. It comes with a usefull leather envelope that lets you store some cards where to write the information you get on the go. Write it down later on your PC and REX and forget about losing information. ADVICE: If you work with Outlook you must purchase also TrueSync Plus for Outlook. A must have 1 step synchronization application. The original soft you get with the Rex needs to be loaded with the Outlook information first, and then to the Rex. (two steps)
