Summary: A useful and accurate tool, very helpful.
Review: I first used Birnbaum's guide to WDW for a 1994 vacation and have purchased the book every year since then just to keep up with any changes made to the resort. For the average person wishing to haul their family across the country to the world's favorite tourist spot, Walt Disney World is extremely overwhelming and I've spoken with many who didn't really enjoy their experience. Each of those situations could have been avoided with the use of this book. It includes every piece of information one could possibly need to know for a few days in Orlando and then some - anything to the general weather conditions, park crowds, Disney resort hotels as well as other hotels, and even blow-by-blow synopses of each show, ride, and attraction that Disney has to offer. After my visit in 1994 and on subsequent visits, I have found most of the information laid out in the Guide to be accurate and very helpful. If it sounds like a glowing review of Disney World or just a paid advertisement, perhaps it's because WDW really is a "practically perfect" place to take a family vacation!

Summary: A must-read for all visitors to Disney World
Review: My husband and I have visited Disney World three times in the past decade and are currently planning our fourth trip in 2002. We find the Birnbaum's guide full of valuable information to make the most of our stay. Most notably, the guide shows what attractions and events are new since our last visit and helps us decide which resort to reserve (we like to stay at a different resort every time we visit for a fresh experience).

This guide applies to all guests, so there will be some custom information for anyone traveling to WDW. I believe there is a WDW for Kids offered by Birnbaum's that may provide more information for families than this guide, but there is still quite a bit of information provided for families throughout this book.

The dining descriptions are useful to choose restaurants at both the theme parks and resorts that fit visitors' tastes and budgets.

Information you won't find in Birnbaum's:
If you are looking for detailed information on Disney packages (i.e. Resort Magic or Discovery Magic), you won't find much information in this guide. The Internet and travel agents are the best source of information on this topic.

If you would like to see details on specific menu items at restaurants, you won't find this information in Birnbaum's. You will find general information on the types of food and theme (i.e. buffet, family style, character dining) as well as general cost information (ranging from inexpensive to very expensive). The Internet is probably your best source for specific dining information.

Overall, I would highly recommend this guide to first-time visitors and repeat visitors who would like to make the most of their WDW vacation.

Summary: A Must Have for a Trip to Walt Disney World
Review: This is the most informative book on the market for persons about to journey to Walt Disney World. It is absolutely essential if you want to approach your WDW vacation with knowledge enough to make the most of it. My advice is to purchase the most recent edition, as it is updated each year to include new attractions, and there are always new attractions. The book is filled with information about hotels, restaurants, amusement parks, and attractions throughout the entire Disney property. I have made about 25 trips to WDW, and I buy a new one each year I go so that my information is current. Well worth the reasonable price.

Summary: A Good Guide for the First Time Guest
Review: Birnbaum has done an excellant job with this year's guide to the worlds favorite vacation spot, the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The Hot Tips are indeed useful, and the entire set-up of the book allows for ease of use and quick referencing.

For those who don't visit the resort every year, purchasing the latest edition is indeed a great and inexpensive way of keeping track of the Resort's myriad changes. I myself have vacationed at the Resort many times, and have really only used the book to remind me of what is going on and what changes have been made.

While the first time Resort Guest should hail this as the Resort vacationer's Bible, the experienced traveler should allow for a lot more on-Resort planning.

To sum it up: Birnbaum's Walt Disney World 2001 : Expert Advice from the Inside Source is a great guide for keeping track of resort changes for the experienced Guest, and should only be used as a sort of Bible by first time visitors. Hey! It's Disney! Don't plan from the book, and let the magic happen!

Summary: Disney World Guidebook is updated and better than ever
Review: "Birnbaum's Walt Disney World 1997 Special 25th Anniversary Edition" advertises itself as "expert advice from the Inside Source." Those who have read previous editions of the book will find some familiar advice among its pages, but there is also plenty of new and updated information to be found, as this year's printing contains news specific to Disney World's 25th Anniversary Celebration. Included are reviews of special attractions and activities, including the Cinderella Castle Cake, the Remember the Magic parade, Returning Guest Tribute, and Illuminations 25.
Those planning a trip to Disney World may be tempted to leap into the information about the Tower of Terror or Alien Encounter, but some of the most valuable data in the Birnbaum's guide is contained in the chapter entitled "Getting Ready to Go." It is in this section that one can learn which are the most crowded weeks to visit Disney World, what to pack, and admission prices.
The "Getting Rea

Summary: A Must Have Book that You Will Usa and Also Cherish
Review: This was the book we used on our first visit to Walt Disney World. We would never have gotten around Walt Disney World without this book. If you have never been to Walt Disney World I recommend that you really get a copy of this book or the most current version of it. If you really enjoy Walt Disney World like we did you may want to hold on to your copy of this book. It is just as much a souvenir as anything else you may purchase on your visit. This book will hold fond and cherished memories for you and your family.

Summary: Disney Guide Book- Don't leave home without it!
Review: I was very impressed with this book. It was very informative and covered every subject concerning a Disney vacation, from what to pack and how to get there, to planning your itinerary and figuring your budget. It also gives info on the different resorts and restaraunts in the Disney park and their price ranges. There are illustrations on every page, my kids can't put it down. It describes every attraction and gives it's location as each park is divided into sections. It covers transportation needs, including the surrounding areas like Downtown Disney,Pleasure Island, Boardwalk, and downtown Disney West Side, and what they entail. Several water parks are also discribed. It even breaks down the Florida weather for each month so you can choose when to go. The book offers tips on saving money, avoiding crowds, and etc. It gives schedules for character meals and labels her "Birnbaum's Best" for best family restaraunts, best dinner shows, best fireworks view, and many more. There are even money saving coupons in the back of the book that are good through December of this year. I plan on taking this book with me on my trip this year to use as a guide.
