Rating: Summary: Much improved Review: This edition is much better than the 2000 edition and that one was very helpful. I found a lot more practical information this time and more tips related directly to families. No "corporate line" here. They give money and time saving tips everywhere. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Birnbaum's Walt Disney World Review: I purchased this book for my first trip with the kids. His sugesstions were right on the money. Staying in disney with small children was a VERY smart idea. When they were hot and tired we went to the pool to cool off. Then back to the parks we went. I felt sorry for the other parents when their children were crying, and tired , no place to rest even for an hour. My only suggestion would be to take a case of bottled water for the entire trip. I felt water was very expensive to buy at the parks. We stayed at a place that offered free soda refills after you purchased the mug. HUGE saving for a family of four, but we didn't want to carry them to the parks. We spent at least one hour at the hotel during the peak heat hours to rest , then back to the parks.
Rating: Summary: The MUST HAVE Guide to Disney World Review: I just picked up the 2002 edition, to replace my 2001 edition. If you are going to Disney World for the first time, or the 100th time, this book is a great, easy to read reference. It is loaded with facts and color photo's. I will be going to Disney World twice in 2002 and I already have the kids pumped up by showing them this book and the Disney World web site. The kids only get to go once, my wife and I go once without them so we can play. A great investment for very little money.
Rating: Summary: Get the Unoffical Guide instead! Review: Anyone who gave this more than three stars at most has probably never read "The Unofficial Guide". I got both prior to our vacation and hardly used this book (although I cross-checked it constantly to see if it had anything to add - it didn't). If you want to spend money on an over-inflated Disney brochure, and value glossy pictures over objective advice, this could be the book for you. If you're only going to get one Disneyworld guide, don't make it this one.
Rating: Summary: A MUST HAVE! Review: I have been to Disney at least 10 times in the past 20 years and every single time I go I buy a new copy of this guide! It gives great hints and helps out a lot in your Disney vacation planning!
Rating: Summary: Great for planning a trip, first or 10th trip there! Review: This is a really good book for planning a vacation....it offers tips on traveling with kids, itineraries, descriptions of amenities and rides, and lots of pictures. I originally thought, "Why would I need this when I've been there before"?...but things are always changing and now this is the first time I will be able to take my daughter who is four there and it was very helpful. It gave me a good idea for which hotel would be good for us and which rides to hit first, etc. It also includes approximate weather charts and restaurants, etc. There are also coupons included as well...definitely buy it!
Rating: Summary: The company line is looking good! Review: The Birnbaum 2001 guide to WDW is a great basic book for your WDW Vacation needs.. It has nothing to detract you from any special goings-on at the park.. Nevermind that 2001 is supposed to be the 100 Years of Magic Celebration.. Hopefully you can find out about that when you get there.. Birnbaum's is a cute handy color-filled guide of all the basic info you will need for the park.. It breaks it up into sections on getting ready to go.. including accomodations.. the separate theme parks.. the water parks.. and other recreational activities (such as the many golf courses)..It also lets you know about the different rides.. and incredibley, they are ALL highly recommended!!! I am being ironic here.. as of course, many Disneyphiles know that this guide is the party line.. The writers of the book no matter what they say, are in debted to Disney to speak highly of everything as much as possible without coloring the facts overly much. If you've ever noticed the wonderful color photos, this is because they have permission by Disney to use images of the parks.. that no one else does, as well, the guide is published by Disney-owned Hyperion.. So you see the guide is looked after by Disney from start to finish. Does this mean you shouldn't get this book?? NO! By all means, get this book.. if this is your first trip to WDW, or you like the color pictures.. or maybe your last copy of Birnbaum's got worn out.. (which is what happened to my multi-used 2000 edition) If you want a comprehensive guide though, and can forgo the shiny pictures.. My top-knotch reccommend would go to Rita Aero's WDW guide.. She's got it all & with an honest reccommendation for the enjoyment level of all ages of each ride... Another book I reccommend is the Passporter Walt Disney World...It goes way beyond handy & useful!! But those two are for another review.. =)
Rating: Summary: Biased or not Bisaed, This Book is a Must-Have Review: I feel that this book is the best for information about Walt Disney World. Though it does not rate restaurants or resorts, or give an opinion about which is better, this book gives excellent information about the Walt Disney World Resort. This book is designed for the person who is definately planning a trip to Walt Disney World, not simply considering it. If you are doing your entire vacation within WDW property, then this is the guide to get. If you want opinions, then search for them on the internet. Any book will be biased. For a completely unbiased opinion then look for personal websites about people's vacation to Walt Disney World. For a comprehensive and informative giude to Walt Disney World, choose this book.
Rating: Summary: Take it from a Travel Agent... Review: ... you should not go to Walt Disney World without reading this book. Especially for first timers. As a travel agent, I know many people are not aware of how large Disney World is, and how many things there are to do. You can not do all of Disney World in a three of four day vacation, and you will be sorry if you try. But you can have some real fun, on either a three day or a seven day vacation, and that is where this book comes in. There are also a lot of misconceptions about "The World" that this book clears up. For instance, Universal Studios is not part of Disney World. It is a seperate company, with its own theme parks completely seperate of Disney World. Disney World has four theme parks, three water parks, a sports complex, and a dining/shopping/nightlife district, not to mention about 20 plus official themed hotels and resorts. This book will be your best way of finding out what hotel, parks, and attractions you want for your vacation. I suggest even for returning guests, because Disney is ever changing.
Rating: Summary: Excellent descriptions and details!!! Review: My boyfriend and I were going to DisneyWorld and needed a book written for someone who has never been there or hadn't been there in a while. THIS WAS THE BOOK!!! It went into great detail every ride, restaurant, hotel, etc... to help with the planning of your trip. We pretty much planned our schedule according to this book and we had an absolute blast! I highly recommend it!!!
