Summary: "I thought I knew everything about the Market, but not so!"
Review: As a Seattle native I thought I knew everything about the Pike Place Market but not so-Inside the Pike Place Market is a wonderful exploration of Seattle's most famous landmark. The pictures are stunning and Braiden Rex Johnson's intimate knowledge of the market has deepened my appreciation of the farmers, craftsmen and performers that make each trip to the market better than the last. Can't wait to try the recipes they look yummy. What a great gift book for my friends, in and out of town!

Summary: A Wonderful Exploration of Seattle's Heartbeat Neighborhood
Review: Author Braiden Rex-Johnson is a neighbor of mine, a fellow writer whose previous cookbooks inspired by Seattle's Pike Place Market have led to many a lovely meal in my home. Since I, like Braiden, shop in the Market on almost a daily basis, I smugly thought she wouldn't have much to teach me with her new book, a departure devoted less to recipes than to the Market itself. Wrong! "Inside the Pike Place Market" has so enriched my experience of the marvelous variety of people, food, and wares to be found within the Market's alleys, corridors, and stalls that I recommend it for everyone -- Seattle natives, past visitors to the Market, and those who are planning to come in the future. Part of my motivation is selfish. If more tourists would read Braiden's wonderful book, fewer of them would be wandering aimlessly about the Market wondering where to go next, getting in my way as I scoot about on my daily rounds. More importantly, they'll have heaps more fun.

Review: Braiden Rex-Johnson has written a foodies delight. Sumptuously decorated with the photographs of Paul Soders, Rex-Johnson's exploration of Pike Place Market is candy for all the senses. This is NOT a cookbook. There are just 20 recipes (all very good). Rather, this is a delightful narrative of the history of the market, the people and products that inhabit it, and the terrific food that emerges from it. Braiden-Rex is deeply in love with her market, and it shows in her wonderful book. When you finish the book, you'll be hungry, but very, very satisfied.

Summary: Fascinating and beautifully photographed!
Review: Even though I am a resident of Seattle, and I have been to "The Market" hundreds if not thousands of times, I LOVED this book. It's such an interesting and diverse look at all the people who make the Market tick. And, man, does it tick! I want to buy this book for my mother, who is a cooking and crafts enthusiast, and I want to buy it for my friend who is a sculptor and tatoo artist. The style of the text and the photographs is so vibrant and keenly tuned to the subject. I can't say enough good things about this rich and colorful book.

Summary: West Coast shopping at it's best!
Review: For anyone who has ever visited Seattle's famous Pike Place Market, the book is a joy. It captures the hustle, bustle and charm of the market. Braiden Rex-Johnson has culled stories that make the market come alive in words as well as the wonderful pictures of Paul Souders. The 20 recipes spice up the text and serve to bring home the variety and texture of the market. Congratulations to both Braiden and Paul!

Summary: Amazing Photgraphy Brings The Experience To Life!
Review: I am a teacher always looking for materials to bring the world to my inner city classroom. The photographs in this book capture the incredibly individual atmosphere of the Pike Street Market in its entirety. The book is a favorite of my students for its interesting views of the produce as well as the market's unique vendors. Many students have chosen Washington for their 5th grade state report after browsing this book. Anything that can keep the interest level of a fifth grader, increase vocabulary and encourage reading at a higher level is a winner to me,and an INVALUABLE resource.

Summary: Inside the Pike Place Market
Review: I rarely read a food-related book, skimming instead for any nuggets of wisdom, or a select recipe or two. But few such books are as well-written as Braiden Rex-Johnson's "Inside the Pike Place Market." I opened to the first paragraph and just couldn't put it down. Part history, part travelogue, part cookbook, and lavishly illustrated with Paul Souders' photographs, this is indeed a book to savor from beginning to end.

Summary: MARKET SECRETS
Review: I READ THIS BOOK BEFORE MY LAST TRIP TO SEATTLE AND DISCOVERED PLACES IN THE MARKET THAT I DID NOT KNOW EXISTED. MY GRANDSON AND I VISITED LOTS OF NOOKS AND CRANNIES IN THE LOWER LEVELS THAT I HAD NOT DISCOVERED ON PREVIOUS VISITS TO THE MARKET. THE MARKET IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES IN SEATTLE. FROM THE FLOWER STALLS TO THE HISTORY OF THIS SEATTLE ICON, THIS BOOK IS A GOLD MINE. IF YOU ARE GOING TO SEATTLE OR JUST TO LIKE TO READ ABOUT INTERESTING PLACES---YOU NEED THIS BOOK!
