Summary: It¿s like a trip to the Candy store
Review: I've been in love with ACDSee since the early days. Even before the "classic" version. It is the best image viewer on the market period. If you have a huge collection of photos either from downloads or that spiffy new digital camera you need this program. I have yet to find a image format ACDSee doesn't read and display faster then all others.

ACDSee version 4 does all the things version 3.X did and more. It has a wide variety of image editing tools that you can use to create, edit and touch-up your digital images. Tools, like Red-eye reduction, crop, sharpen, convert to sepia tones, and emboss. There are several tools such as exposure adjustment, convert, resize, rename, rotate and mirror, that can be performed on multiple files at the same time. Which can make this product worth the price all by it's self.

My only concerns are the way it looks compared to version 3.X. It seems they added these candy looking buttons that are a little too big for my taste. The preview pane no longer can be moved from left to right and center. The browser portion seems more crowded now but in time you'll find that the controls are faster with this new configuration. The candy like button at the top of the browser should be more customizable, not only smaller but I want more control of what's up there.

Normally when a new version of an already great product comes out and looks so different I ask myself "Did they just make it pretty so they can charge us again or is this really a 'new' version?" I can honestly tell you they made a new version. ACDSee was already the fastest viewer around but now it feels even faster, everything seems to run smoother as well. It used to be if you didn't view a large photo at it's full size it just didn't look right, that problem has been fixed. Now viewing at any size looks fantastic.

This is the program to get if you take digital photos or even if you still use a 35mm camera and scan them into your computer (new acquire button yea!).

Summary: Sensational Image Viewer Program and Computer File Organizer
Review: The best Image Viewer and computer file organizer available!!! By best I mean it has the simplest and yet fully functional Image Viewer interface available. I have been using the ACDSee image viewer and many ACDSee related products for about 9 years. I currently use both version 2.42 and version 3.1 on my computer. I am aware that version 4.0 is the current version and that in October 2002 version 5.0 will possibly be available.

I am in love with digital images. I currently own four great digital cameras. In addition my wife has one, our two sons each have one, I bought my sister one, and I just bought my granddaughter one. All of us use ACDSee as our image viewing program and we all love it.

Here are some of the things that ACDSee does as an image viewer:
view images one by one; by slide show; full screen; view with less than full screen with tool bars on screen; view small images expanded to fill screen; view over-sided images shrunk to fit screen; view slide show with variable delay options; change images with the scroll wheel; change images with the mouse; zoom image on screen with the scroll wheel; shrink image on screen with the scroll wheel; navigate easily between image folders; rename individual files; rename file series; move images and files; copy images and files; delete images and files; create new folders; create new subfolders; and convert image type.

I own two different image viewer programs that came with the various Fuji and Olympus cameras I own, one image viewer that came with my Dell Laptop, and various other programs that I have looked at as shareware on the Internet. I also have Microsoft Picture It and am familiar with the Microsoft XP photo interface. yet I have found nothing as straight forward and functional as ACDSee as an Image Viewer.

I also generally use ACDSee in lieu of the Windows Explore program to organize my computer and its files and folders. While it does not do anything that Explore does not do the interface of ACDSee is a couple clicks easier than Explore.

Please note that while I think that the ACDSee is great as a standalone product I think that the ACDSee Power Pack is a better buy because of all the programs that you get for the money. Also be aware that there is yet another related product called ACDSee Power Pack Suite with still more programs bundled together. So far as I know this product (the Power Pack SUITE) is available only on the ACDSee company web site. I very much wish it were sold by Amazon on CD because Amazon's pricing is better.

In nine years I have never needed to call ACDSee customer support; I have handled in excess of 30,000 images - viewing, organizing, filing, copying, moving, deleting, etc. etc. Neither I or any of the dozen of people that I have encouraged to use this program have had anything but praise for how wonderful it is, and how it makes using and viewing digital images so easy.
