Summary: Not for the "Run & Gun" 1st Person Shooters
Review: This game rocks. (Or at least the demo does as the full version isn't available yet) You can feel the terror as you try to walk quietly throught the jungle. Suddenly you hear a bullet whiz past your head. Where'd it come from? You look around and all you see is the jungle, you try to listen and all you hear is the wind in the trees and agitated Howler Monkeys. Finally, you catch a glimpse of something to your left about 30 yards out. You spin and shoot as a second round sizzles past you. Time for a grenade. You pull the pin and count 1,2,3, and heave it in the direction you thought you saw something...4,5 BOOM! Your ears ring as you see a lone black pajama clad figure scurry out of the bush away from you. You fire two rapid bursts from your M16A1 service rifle and the figure falls lifeless, to the ground. You breathe a sigh of relief and give thanks to your God, suddenly, horrifically, a third bullet slams directly into your chest with a sickening thud, your heart beats wildly in your ears..."Son of a B&%^^%*ch! I've been bush whacked" are your final thoughts...surroundings fade to black...all is quite, now.
If you sincerely love Quake, Unreal 2003, and Serious Sam, this may not be the game for you. However, if you want to experience realistic Jungle Warfare and hunt a deadly human enemy with realistically modeled weapons, look no further.

Summary: Just a really good game.
Review: This game is really good. It is not the best first person shooter out there but it's single player missions are amazing and (though i dont know because i have a crappy internet connection) i hear it's multiplayer is pretty great too.

If you have played Medal of Honor and loved it, you probably know how important great sound is to a great FPS. The sound in Vietcong is amazing, stunning, disturbingly good.

If you like stylish shooters and great single player campaigns, buy this game, especially because it doesnt cost that much now.

If you like realistic, tactical based shooters, you would like this to.

OUT OF TEN...

SOUND: 10 (orgasmic)

GRAPHICS: 8 (great sometimes, sloppy others)

GAMEPLAY: 8 (not particularly smooth, but very fun and intense)

A. I: 9 (they actually flank you and hide like crazy)

GUNS AND RELOADING: 10 (beautiful reloading and tons of guns)

Summary: This game kicks Ass!!!
Review: I Tried this game about a year ago and have been hooked ever since. As far as improvements there have been several patches for it as of now (3/20/04). Yes, your AI can be stupid but apart from a few situations its all good because this game was written for YOU to do most of the work, not the AI.The Jungles r pretty realistic for computer generated foilage.Everything from stealth missions to tunnel clearing to ridiculous fire fights. The Multiplayer is SICK! Definately the best I have Played ( I have Counter-Strike, Medal of Honor, Etc. ) The Fist Alpha Expansion came out recently and improves even more. Even without the Expansion you can still play on the new patch v1.60 and Fist Alpha players can play with you. Look at the Vietcong-Game website for More Info and Demo of both the orig and Fist Alpha. My Favorite game for my Xp computer.

Summary: Excellent excitement
Review: I've been playing the multiplayer demo of this game for several days, and it is fantastic. The lush jungle environment is beautiful (even on a 2 year old computer - 800mhz and GeForce 2 card is adequate). The game offers strange emotional punch as you are able to play both sides of the questionable war. Politics aside, the complex jungle landscape makes patiently hiding pay off as you are given powerful sniper rifles and camoflague.

I am not an avid FPS gamer, but this one is simple to learn and actually gets the heart racing. It is difficult to tell friend from foe at a distance in the jungle, and "friendly fire" is common in this game as well as in reality.

Summary: The balanced truth on Vietcong
Review: -
This is the best war FPS MPlayer I have seen far from the others.

Let's explain an IMPORTANT DISTINCTION:

The single player has all the dificulties that others review signal:
1. Each SP mission is a narrow walk in the jungle shooting VC as a normal mad FPS.
2. Nearly allways (not allways) you can't see VC IN THE JUNGLE TILL THEY SHOOT YOU, but I must underline that this is not all true. You CAN see VC when you move slowly and with great care. In some cases, in deep jungle, you can be seen, and shooted, without seeing the enemy till is too late. Without discussion the SP mission --finally-- are not ample and tend to be simple and not very funny. BUT, we must remember that in MOH AA and sequels, and in Call of Duty that also the SP missions are scripted narrowly, but the quality of scripts is rather complex, imaginative and entertaining (and of course absolutely unreal and impossible). In that case MOF & COD are a full success and Vietcong is marginated. THESE ARE THE VC BADNEWS.

BUT WE HAVE THE GOOD NEWS:

VIETCONG is another & different game in MP mode (MP CAN change the gaming experience).
Here ambience, sounds, jungle and animals, music, voices, maps, all works in the same direction. This means that you seem to be in Vietnam in the worst places at the worst hours. Realism is the game.

# All weapons behave as the original, not only in sound, but also in power, deviation, shooting damage, speed of fire, distance, etc. One shoot in the head kills, many in the body no.

# You cannot carry more than one main weapon. Logical and real. In MOH and COD you can carry the arms of a regiment and that is foolish. If you take a new arm (an AK-47, you must drop your M16). Amunnition is not easily found.

# You cannot run like a sheetah or jump like a cangoroo as you can in MOH and that is very good.

# Open spaces and big maps (not corridor after corridor like in most games: vomitive) let you explore, wait and ambush, shoot selectively, or look for action and be in a crazy dog fight.

# In MP sounds, ambience work all in the same direction. You can crawl, aim over protection, run or behave, jump normaly, play in association with your buddies, search for face to face confrontation, under the normal laws of nature. This makes the game logical and very difficult. In games, at last, difficult gaming is fun gaming. Community is big and OK and you can play with all type of gamers, poor, medium and the hardest. There are plenty of super maps, not boring, not repetitive. Anticheating has became very, very good.

# Of course the overgaming of Quake with guns bigger than your car, destruction of acres of terrain with one shoot, jumping over a building, running like a rabbit, grimacing like a monkey, etc. is not the style.

## FINALLY: THE GAME IS FOR REALITY LOVERS. IF YOUR STYLE IS THE UNREAL THING AND THE INCREDIBLE AND FANTASTIC, THE UNCOVERED CRIMINAL, THE SADISTIC DESTRUCTOR, THIS IS NOT YOUR GAME.

FOR THE ONES THAT BELIEVE THAT REALITY IS IMAGINATION ITSELF, THIS IS THE GREATEST GAME AVAILABLE.

### FINALLY, FINALLY: WHAT IS ENTERTAING?

WELL, I CAN DEFINE IT NOW:
IN WAR FPS MULTIPLAYER GAMES, SURE & CERTAINLY IS VIETCONG 1.6.

Summary: CLOSE ENCOUNTERS WITH CHARLIE
Review: vietcong is probably the best vietnam game ever created and one of the best war games ever also. Players have a variety of weapons to choice from such as the m-16a1, ak-47, mosin-nagant, m1 carbine, and m-60 just to name a few. The levels are fun, as most of them often occured during the vietnam conflict. The first level, for example, has you set out with two other squad mates to help out a local village (this was often done by green beret in order to win over the local population.) Probably my favorite level though is Radio Station. It has you guarding a remote radio tower during a monsoon. The radio tower is pivotal, as it is the only thing able to recieve and transmit radio transmissions from green beret operation in cambodia (we weren't supposed to be there.) well, sure enough, the NVA dont like this very much. The quiet breaks, and you can hear about 50 NVA officers blowing whistles. needless to say, the bodycount in this mission is rambo-like.
Pros:
Awesome vietnam game!
-you actually have to use weapons' iron sights to shoot accurately
-good controls
-graphics
-the use of cover is emphasized greatly!
-weapon accuracy
-missions
-multiplayer
-something cool:when using the microphone online, you have to yell if someone is more than 30 feet away. and the enemy can hear it!!
-OVERALL GREAT GAME!!!
Cons:
-the tunnel missions
-collecting intel seems to have no use (ae you dont gain anything from taking intelligence papers.)
-the m-16 has 18 rounds?
-can only drive a jeep
-game does not include the m-14(expansion fist alpha does)
-your squad could be better
-more character developement from squadmates (friendship)
- overall i would suggest this to anyone who is seeking a good first person shooter. the game is great on easy but very realistic and fun on vietnam (1 shot 1 kill, including you, dont know how much ammo you have.)

Summary: Best Vietman game out, right now. IMHO.
Review: No you can't drive a tank or drop napalm on somebody, but Vietman was best remembered as a jungle war. And there's plenty of jungle in Vietcong.

This game is best when played online, with lots of cover, several different kinds of weapons, and many different types of games (DM, TDM, CTF, etc.) and maps. Single play, for both, are challenging, especially on vietnam difficulty (no HUD). Do a search and try out the demo. The demo and retail multiplayer servers are compatible with each other but demo has more restrictions on class and maps.

Summary: very good
Review: I enjoyed this game. Some missions were frustrating, but not half as much as some reviewers say-the tunnel missions in particular are not too long.
Some missions like defending the base from attackers are great fun, and while some characters are over the top the game manages to keep you going on for more. It is not too long either, a plus in my book.

Summary: war is hell
Review: Ever since I bought this game, my gaming ways changed dramatically. If you are looking for a realistic Vietnam War game, this is it. If you have ever seen the movie, "We Were Soldiers," it is very similar, except for the amount of soldiers. The graphics are very realistic. You can hardly tell the difference between real life objects. The weapon systematics are unbelievable. The look and the sound of the M-16 is unbelieveable. The M-60 is just like the one in the movies. Plus, you get the vietcong weapons of you choice. This game is also very realistic because, unlike those other war games where you go out by yourself and kill 100 guys, you are actually in a realistic enviroment where, if you go out by yourself, you will die. Throughout the game you are surrounded by 5 other trained soldiers. Don't miss out on this game! BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!

Summary: One of the best FPS games ever
Review: First off this game looked cool. I always wanted a Veitnam game. I've played the WWII games and got a little tiered of them. So I got this game. I haven't regrated it since. The grapics are great, the plot is great, everthing in this game is great. You get to ride and shoot in hughys, shoot those Communist a-holes, and even enjoy veiwing the vast countryside.

You have mulitiplayer, training, 20 differnt levels, a wide veriaty of U.S. and Vietcong weapons, and differnt vehicles to travel in.

This game is a must buy for fps fans, Plus its better then hearin' grandpa talkin about nam.
