Summary: A step down from version 4
Review: I use version 4 of this program at the radio station where I work part-time, but version 5 at home. Version 5 works fine, but it has added a couple of annoyances that are pretty substantial. One, after burning a CD, if you decide you want to burn another copy of the same files, too bad. After completing a CD, version 4 had the "Cancel" option that left you with the same files queued up and ready to burn; version 5 has dropped that, so if you neglected to input the number of copies before the first burn, you have to start from scratch loading the files. Another, you can't close down the program from the burn subprogram. If you close after a burn, after a second or two, the main menu reappears--this is really obnoxious. I want to shut down, that's why I tried to close. In fact, after a burn, it takes about 5 mouse clicks to close the program (it wants very much to take you to the label creator subprogram). This small annoyance adds up when you do enough CD burning.

Adaptec had it just about right with version 4. Roxio has added an ugly XP-style look and several minor annoyances that are antithetical to what the user wants in version 5. RIP Adaptec Easy CD Creator.

I see that version 6 is out, so maybe there's hope. I doubt it. When a company does what Roxio did to this Adaptec program, it seems pretty obvious that they are clueless.

Summary: Worst Product Ever
Review: I don't know what happend to Easy CD Creator, but after Roxio got ahold of it, they really ... it up. I have 4 burners in my company of various manufacturers. Easy CD only works on 3 of them. Fine. But after it didn't work on a brand new laptop, the uninstallation of the product hosed the system. THE COMPUTER WOULD NO LONGER BOOT. But don't believe me, just check out Microsofts website. KB article 810897. Furthermore, their current update still doesnt prevent this problem.

Summary: A peice of junk
Review: It was forced to put 1 star. No choice. I just bought a Memorex 52X CD-writer. It comes with the Nero 5.X. But I got some old CD-RWs that created under EZ CD Creater V3.X (or ?) and couldn't read by Nero. I decided to install the EZ CD5. During the insatllation, a message "Unsupport driver was found" popup. ...The Memorex 52X is the latest technology. It doesn't support. I got it for free, and know now why I got it for free. It is a peice of junk. Go for Nero!!!...

Summary: Love it!
Review: I have had no problems running Easy CD Creator on my computer. I'm running Windows ME and it seems to work with no problems. When I fist set it up I found my CD burner wasn't supported but a quick download later I was up and running.

I have mainly used it for archiving family digital pictures and it has worked flawlessly! Easy to use interface and fast burn times even with an older system like mine (AMD K6-2.)

I have also made a couple of music CDs and again no problems and easy to use interface. I also burned some of the digital movies I took using my digital camera and they play without fail in our DVD player.

Summary: So what happend to its DirectCD?
Review: its older version works great. This version sucks.
It would not support my CD-RW drive anymore when formatting CD's. It is not XP friendly either. I have downloaded and installed its update patches. and it still doesn't work. Thier website's help is not very helpful either.

If you really wanna use this product. STICK TO THE OLDER VERSION.

Summary: PC Killer
Review: Avoid at all costs. No matter what Roxio claims this does not work with Windows XP. When I got tired of dealing with all the bugs and uninstalled it my computer crashed. The first and last time I saw Windows XP blue screen of death. To get use of my computer back I had to do a parrallel windows installation so that I could edit registry keys on crashed computer. It's such a common problem that Microsft had a database entry about it. Class action suit anyone?

Summary: Roxio cornered the worse programmers on this planet.
Review: Regardless of decreasing price and enticing rebates, resist all temptation to buy this PoS "product". Buy Nero 5.5 (or greater) instead. If you ignore me, you'll regret it, and will have spent twice as much money by the time you expunge this garbage from your computer and replace it with Nero.

If, however, you're a masochist - and particularly if you run Win2k - by all means go for it. The suffering will be intense and prolongued. If you want a teaser preview while you wait for it to arrive, read the one-star reviews here, and Google search Newsgroups.

Summary: Roxio doesn't rock!
Review: This product is extremly bloated and buggy. Nero Burning Rom has a simular feature set, is smaller, just as easy to use. And unlike Roxio is reliable.

Summary: frustration in a box - a nightmare on Windows 2000...
Review: All kinds of problems. Never could get the cd-burning component to work on Windows 2000. Prior version of Adaptec CD creator had worked on the exact same system. Maybe a couple more days of debugging and searching the roxio web site could have solved the problem of recognized the cd burners. My wife thought I was just impatient until see started using the photo album software but after that software generated multiple access violations and losing 30 minutes of work on the first crash she concurred. Even when the photo album software works it requires the files be in a specific folder, can't handle long filenames for your images, and can't save music selections to play during a slide show. There is a reason this product doesn't have the windows logo on the box; it doesn't qualify. Look for an alternative.
