Summary: great quality, great price
Review: These minidiscs work great. I haven't experienced any static, skips, or other recording errors. I actually expected a few not to work, but alas they all did. They labels that come along with it are great, they're extremely useful. The best part about these is the price.... Buy these and you won't be regretful.

Summary: The price is right...
Review: (1) As the title says...

(2) The only potential drawback is that the minidiscs don't come in individual plastic cases. They still come with larger multi-disc plastic cases that are just fine for carrying discs around...

Summary: Mini discs are mini discs.
Review: When very little seperates one product from another, one must ultimately judge that product on minute detalis. And here's my gripe. Petty as it may sound, the labels keep peeling up. At first it's a minor annoyance, but when the things get stuck in the player because of the label, that's just silly. I've actually gone to the length of using labels from other mini discs. It all sounds stupid yes? But why pay money for something that displeases you? I switched to TDK, and they're a better value, and- the labels stay put!

Summary: i've had my problems with Memorex minidiscs
Review: i've used 30 Memorex minidiscs for about 2 years now exclusively. the latest set of 20 discs i bought all worked great except two (2), yes TWO, mindiscs which don't work at all. I've tried them in (you guessed it) two different MD players and the same thing - they didn't work in either. THe others have worked flawlessly, so maybe i shouldn't complain. But what the hell, after reading of some other users problems, i'm buying Sony or Maxell next time. Sure they have a lifetime waranty but i have better things to do than mail these little buggers back to who the hell knows where. As for price- this is about the best i've seen (if you actually get what you pay for in working condition). Geez!

Summary: Exceptional value
Review: I have used almost 100 of these now and I have only experienced great sound quality at a fantastic price. If you have priced out minidiscs, as I have extensively, you will quickly realize that you will not find a better price. The quality of the discs has been consistant, so what else do you need to know?!

Of course, you don't get individual cases for the discs, which is not a problem if you use an organizer, like the Case Logic organizers also available through Amazon. I recommend these discs wholeheartedly.

Summary: Stick with Sony or TDK
Review: I bought these discs because I like to collect different types. The included cases was a nice bonus too. However, the discs are poorly made, the MD casing is extremly thin and brittle and the metal shutters were slightly bent exposing the disc.

Summary: wonderful deal for avid MD enthusiasts but no purple
Review: Everyone must be catching on to what a great deal this is as it went from 26 to 29+bucks. The fact that they are packed 5 per case is nice if you like to do as I do, and make sets of music such as all baroque, or all jazz, to bring on trips or just for the bedside listening. The tapes are sturdy enough unless you are a gorilla, or with the world fed of wrestling. I was a little surprised at some white dust that was on the individual mds, but brushing it off seemed to do the trick. I was not pleased that my favorite color purple was not in the box, only some kind of sickly yellow/champagne color. I would love the price to go back to 26 instead of 29bucks but it is still a great deal.

Summary: A great value
Review: At this price, these discs are a great buy. I think everyone would do well to read the review below that explains the Mini Disc market. Essentially, there are only a few manufaturers of MiniDiscs. Memorex, Sony, et al, simply relabel the product with their brand. My own personal experience is congruent with this. None of the other MDs I have purchased differ in quality from these. At this price, I'll never buy anything else. The only drawback of these is the lack of individual case. But that's a quibble.

Summary: Some facts about MDs
Review: This is my first Amazon review, but some of the reviews of this product are so funny, I just had to comment. I own over 500 MDs, use them for live recordings & to copy CDs for easy carrying around town. I've got 2 portables & two decks.

MDs divide into 74 minute & 80 minute. They also divide into designer and, well, normal. People collect designer mini disks, like the limited edition happy kitty in two-tone pink. For the non-designer MDs, there aren't many manufacturers. Memorex, Sony, Maxell...they buy from manufacturers, they just slap on their own labels. I have these identical MDs with at least 8 different manufactures' logo slapped onto them. These are often referred to as Hi Space 74 min MDs. Hi Space is the main manufacturer.

When you trade MDs, the one restriction people place is that the shutter be metal. Plastic shutters are more prone to failure. These have metal shutters.

It is a digital media, you don't need to worry about the media quality. They are all the same. You can have a bad batch, because of quality control problems. One rarely hears about that as a problem. So you just make sure that the casing is adequate, and again, that is seen as an issue, basically, of metal versus plastic shutters.

I like the 6 MD cases these come in, but that is of course a personal matter. If you prefer individual covers, look for Hi Space MDs. It is the same product.

With over 500 MDs, I've never had a problem with one. I look for a good manufacturer (I've heard of shoddy casings on some Hong Kong purchased MDs, for example), metal shutter and low price.

Unless you go to Japan, Singapore, a few other places, you simply are not going to find another source of sturdy 74 min MDs for a better price. Places like cassettehouse have better specials, but their shipping costs are huge.

Summary: You get what you pay for . . .
Review: I've purchased this item twice now, so I have 40 of these puppies. They seemed good at first; hey digital is digital. And I like the bulk packaging without all those hard case and paper liners. However, I started noticing a number of dead spots in my recordings. Earlier recordings that where perfection at the outset now seem to have gaps and holes. And though it's said that you can erase and re-record 1000 times, in my experience if you try to edit and record again errors appear. An experience yesterday really frustrated me. After recording a group of songs, and spending time titling, I got the dread UTOC error. NOthing you can do at that point but throw it away. Actually I broke the case open and let my cat play with the little disk inside. In my experience Memorex products have always been third rate.
