Summary: Disney DVD Collection
Review: After having read the other reviews after I had already bought the collection there is not much to say. I agree about a distinct lack of extra material which is a must. I much prefer to see a movie in its original format (Black & white included). I was thrilled to see that the selections had more than just English,English & French. But when I got to Pinocchio and Peter Pan I was very disappointed that Spanish was not included. With literally millions of hispanics in the USA it should be automatically included on the DVD. I have many family & friends that speak other languages and that is one of the principal reasons I bought a DVD system. Please, Disney, take the time to make a product worth buying. With your name and reputation a lot of advertisement is not necessary when you produce a 5 star Movie properly on DVD!

Summary: The picture is no extras but what we need is good quality
Review: It's OK. There are no extras at theese movies, but my children always skeep it in the VHS, and this DVD has exelente quiality in sound and image, and you have to consider that not all the Disney pictures where edited in Wide format. I think is a very good choice.

Summary: Simba's Pride included in "classic" collection?
Review: What in the world are they thinking when they included Simba's Pride in the "classic" collection? Why not include the real classics such as Lion King or Beauty and Beast or Sleeping Beauty.

Great to have the real classics on DVD, though. However, since there are no special features and other extras with this collector's set, if you have the laser disc versions, I would not waste money on them. There is not much improvement in quality over your laser disc (and some of the CAV laser disc versions have special features). But if you were not one of the lucky ones to pick up the laser disc versions, go ahead and upgrade your tapes.

Summary: Di$ney, and Lion King II
Review: I was wondering why on earth Di$ney put LK II on this "The Classic DVD Collector's SET"? I wouldn't even call Hercules a classic. What about the real classics like Cinderella, Snow White, The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast? Anything to make an extra buck, probably the only way to sell out the stock on LK2. The rest of the box is great.

Summary: I'm boycotting Disney until they release Toy Story
Review: I'm also extremely annoyed that Disney/Pixar released A Bug's Life knowing full well everyone would buy it, and then they came out with the Collector's Edition of A Bug's Life a year later at a ridiculously high price. How family-unfriendly can a bunch of marketers get!

Summary: I've got to chop up the covers to get my 2 free...
Review: I bought this collection knowing that I would get two additional "free" Disney DVD's. Well, now that I have the DVD's, I find out that I have to cut the proof of purchase FROM THE COVER to get these freebies! Sure it's the back cover, but what kind of collectible has pieces scissored out of it? Disney KNEW that FEW collectors would redeem this. What a crock!

Summary: You have no choice
Review: Since this is the only way disney will ever package these films for quite some time, If you want them now, you have no choice but to buy them. Some people complain that some are not in WIDESCREEN. These people do not realize that some of them were NOT MADE IN WIDSCREEN. Lady and the tramp was Disney's first film to be shot in the widscreen process so anything made before that, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, 101 dalmations, etc; are already in their original format. They will NEVER be in widscreen because they dont exist in that form. As for remastering the sound in 5.1, why bother? Lady and the tramp is presented in its original 5 channel surround mix, and any artificial mix made for these films would be sacreligious. I prefer to see them the way they were meant to be seen. Still, they are overpriced.

Summary: These are Kids Videos - They do not watch the extras
Review: I have many of the VHS tapes and they all are starting to look bad. Thanks Disney for DVD! Now my kids can watch them over and over again and they will always look great. They do not watch the features. They want it fast forward to the movie. I can't wait for the next set!

Summary: Disney Lovers Only
Review: Overall I think Disney has done a poor job of migrating to the next level of video technology. I purchased this set as a gift for my sister who is a Disney fanatic, and she enjoys it very much; however lack of DVD features makes this a less than desirable purchase for anyone who is not a 100% Disney lover. Save your money for other DVDs and just buy the Disney movies you can't live without.

Summary: Disney DVD Collection
Review: Most people have in the past & continue to buy theses movies on VHS. Be glad that they are now available on DVD. The movies were never intended to have all that extra stuff. If you want the extras write to Disney & request them. If you work out the cost for this 9 DVD Collection it comes out to less money for each. That's a lot less than the VHS copies. I have ordered this & will continue to purchase as many of the classic Disney DVD they release, especially Collector's editions like this one.
