Summary: Parker and Stone make more money without doing anything new.
Review: This new compilation is nothing more than a reissue of their previous compilations, only in chronological order.

As reported by others, there is absolutely nothing new here, and the episodes aren't broken into chapters. However, I want to add that the video quality is atrocious. I honestly think the quality is better in the broadcast versions (on non-digital cable).

I'd return the set if I could, and I won't be buying Season 2 unless they - at least - improve the video quality.

Summary: What the?!
Review: I bought this because it was supposed to have extras and commentaries, and it has NOTHING. I already have all this in the other [poor] releases...We've waited so long for them to get their act together and stop releasing the stupid compilations, and the result is this? Not. Suddenly, my set is defective and will have to be returned.

Summary: South Park Season 1
Review: South Park...what more can be said. One of the most funniest (yes this is a word) shows that I have seen in a while. So when I heard that they were releasing the complete first season, I had to have. My only regret is buying this dvd without the knowledge that Matt Stone and Trey Parker have a commentary in front of everyone of the episodes of South Park. It is rather annoying and sucks because you aren't able to skip right to the episode unless you fast forward the dvd. And what is worse, the commentaries are long, they talk about absolutly nothing, and they are hella boring. So all in all buy this dvd caution and if you are patient.

Review: I love these litte characters. Watching them brings back great childhood memories. ......

Summary: Somebody needs to Ro-Sham-Bo the Warner Executives
Review: Okay, first of all, the first season of South Park is one of the most brilliant seasons of comedy television ever, this set would be a must have even if it was only on VHS, it's only rivaled in funniness by the fourth season of the Simpsons and the third of Mr. Show, and maybe even eclipses those. If you've never seen the Starvin Marvin Thanksgiving episode and Cartman as "BEEFCAKE" you just don't know good television.....

.....however.....there's one little flaw.........scant extras and NO COMMENTARY, commentary, which has been promised to the fans for MONTHS, we didn't get it on the BASEketball DVD, we didn't get it on the South Park set DVDs, we didn't get it on the South Park the movie DVD, we didn't even get a DVD of Orgazmo, which has also been promised to us for years. Considering that Cannibal The Musical is considered to have one of the greatest commentary tracks ever by everyone who's heard it, that's really disappointing. Troma does a better job with their DVDs than Warner Brothers, TROMA.

....

However, these episodes are unspeakably great and we won't get anything new soon, so we'll have to live with it I guess.

Five stars for the episodes, One star for the set, averages out to three stars, get the shows, avoid the set.

Summary: Cheap...
Review: Pretty [nice] box set for [price]. No library option for the episodes so you're stuck fast forwarding through the stupid (completely un-funny) commentary at the beginning of each episode just to get to the beginning. And forget jumping ahead to a particular scene. I love the fact that no one even proofread the box versus the discs. Got it home, popped in the disk to see my favorite episode, and the box was mislabeled! And the only good extra "features" are the music videos. I guess I expected a little better than this.... Maybe they should take a lesson from the Simpson's DVD Box Sets...!

Summary: Quite Good
Review: Although the lack of commentary was a bit disappointing, this is still a much better buy than those massively overpriced mini-collections that I skipped on because they only had a small few episodes on them.

Summary: LOVED IT
Review: Love South Park. Can't wait for season 2 on DVD.

Summary: As others have pointed out, this was a bait and switch
Review: What a waste! Apart from a couple of music clips and the Jay Leno bit (which probably total under 10 minutes), there is nothing in this box set that wasn't already released on the original dvd's. The honest thing to do would have been to delete this set entirely and cancel all orders. They could have then set a new release date with the REAL details regarding the dvd's available. How many of us would have purchased this set had we known we were paying [X] for episodes we already own on dvd?

To find out that I can pay another [X] for shipping and handling and get the commentaries on cd is just lame. As someone else pointed out, this requires synchronizing one's dvd player and cd player...and hoping that the cd tracks are actually created to synch up with the video. And what about people who have only one disc player attached to their systems (which is becoming more and more common)? And how many people will buy this set and never realize that they can get commentaries on cd's for free?

By the way, the silly intros before the episodes ARE still there.

Summary: South Park Season 1 DVD Re-release
Review: Hi, I am absolutely addicted South Park and this is a great
DVD series, and you should buy it. It has EVERY South Park Episode is Season 1 along with Exclusive Promos, Jay Leno Short, Cartman's "O Holy Night", Ned's "O Little Town of Bethlehem", and cool menus to let you choose what episodes you want to see along with Matt and Trey introducing each episode before it starts saying why that perticular episode is their favorite. So I hope this convinces you to buy the greatest DVD set of all time so far.

-Jamie-

P.S.-> EVERY episode is Matt and Treys favorite episode!!!
