Summary: Don't Believe The Hype
Review: Yes it's good and there were a few jokes that had me rolling out of my seat and Bernie Mac has always been a favorite of mine but come on now!!!! Joke for joke it isn't as good as Chris Rock's "Bring The Pain" and in my opinion (expert or not) it is not worthy of all this critical acclaim because put simply "its aight". Like Potter said they didn't have to go as far as making a movie. Just because generally speaking the standard of urban/black entertainment is dropping, we shouldn't blow The Kings Of Comedy out of proportion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: on par, but not outstanding
Review: This was a good movie, but there was nothing that made it exceptional. D.L. Hughly in particular had some outstanding bits during his stand-up portion, and I laughed out loud several times for each of the four comedians' routine.

But then, when the movie was over, I turned it off and watched Louis Black do a stand-up bit on Letterman, and I laughed just as much. That's when it hit me - the movie was OK, but I could've saved my money and watched the equivalent on late-night talk shows or Comedy Central.

The movie dragged a bit in some places and excelled in others, but in the end, I couldn't help but thinking that Spike Lee might as well have made this an HBO or Comedy Central one-hour special instead of blowing it up into a full-fledged movie. Buyer beware.

Summary: THIS WAS TOO FUNNY TO BE A COMEDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: "The Original Kings Of Comedy" is probably not the movie you may be expecting. It is two hours of stand up comedy without a plot. I didn't see a single person in the theatre not laughing. This movie was HYSTERICAL, with no gross-out humor or weird antics. If you don't like to see movies as they are usually shot, see something else. If you are a comedy fan who is not offended by vulgar humor and raunchy sex jokes, this movie is for you.

Summary: The Kings Rule!!!
Review: The Kings of Comedy had me laughing out loud so much that I got light headed from all the laughing. Steve Harvey and Bernie Mac are by far the funniest of the four. If you have seen DL Hughley's HBO special then you have seen most of his routine. Cedric the Entertainer must have had an off night, because he was not as funny as he was during the live the performance I saw here in Dallas.

I am waiting for them to do a part two with Damien Williams as the host. All four men have talent and the ability to engage the audience. Bernie Mac had me laughing non-stop at his routine.

The extra's in the DVD make it worth the price. They have cut scenes that are funny, and they have a music video #1 Stunner included on the DVD. They also have the Kings talking about the reason they got into comedy and how hard it was at the beginning of their careers. One of the best comedy DVD's on the market. Watching this DVD will help you to understand why the Kings of Comedy is the highest grossing Comedy tour ever.

Summary: More like one king, two princes, and one sucker
Review: Bernie Mac is undeniably THE king of comedy in this movie, his set smokes all of the others. That's not to say that the other's aren't funny. D.L. Hughley is really funny, especially when talking about how black people and white people view work. Steve Harvey sort of MC's the concert and does like two 10-15 minute sets that are decent. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that I really didn't think that Cedric the Entertainers set was funny at all. It's a good thing Spike Lee didn't open the film with him because I probably would have shut it off. The funniest part of the whole movie is hearing Bernie Mac's views on child raising, it's just simply hilarious. Bernie comes from the old school of child rearing where it's ok to give a kid an @ss whippin'. Anyway, this is definitely worth buying just for Bernie Mac's set alone, but D.L. Hughley and Steve Harvey do a good job as well...a good addition to any comedy collection.

Summary: Funniest Movie of the Year!
Review: This film was truly the most hilarious and refreshing movie-going experience of the year. Those who are easily offended should probably be advised against it, as well as be advised to lighten up! Many of the jokes (most of the funniest ones, actually) are centered around things like race, sex, and sexuality, and those who have a problem with discussion and mocking of these issues are the only people who would not find this movie hilarious. I, myself, am white, and yet I was not offended by ANY of the jokes about or knocks on white people. Why? A. I was smart enough not to perceive them as personal insults or attacks on my race, but rather as d@mn-funny jokes, period. and B. Most of what they said was true, which made the jokes all the more hilarious! Bernie Mac was without a doubt the star of the show, in that he was not only funniest man on stage, but also the most (potentially) offensive. He takes on children & homosexuality (two birds with one stone), speech impediments, his fair share of white jokes etc. If you know well enough not to take these jokes too seriously, you're in for the ride of your life! Highly recommended!

Also, you should obviously not see this movie if you dislike stand-up comedy; if that is the case it is rather ignorant to say that the fact that it is primarily stand-up is a bad quality--because most people do NOT dislike stand-up.

Summary: To The One Man Who Didn't Like This Film
Review: To the man who complained about the content of this film and the fact that these are "not the kings of comedy" because he didn't know their names. First this is a film of comedic genius anyone who can watch this and not laugh is obviously a racist person just like the guy who did not like this film or the people in it. For the man who did not know any of the four men starring in this role he must have his eyes shut to 90 percent of this country and the comedy acts that have come since "the great Bill Cosby." Anyways like every other review stated this is a great show and if you like any of the great black comedic acts you will love this one too. You must check this out ... unless you are the one person who saw this and gave it a bad review on this page.
