Summary: Grease 2
Review: Well, this movie may leave you with mixed feelings. you like it and you don't. In a couple ways it's better than the first, and in a couple ways it's worse. The musical score and songs aren't as good, but some songs stand out (Back To School, We're Gonna Score Tonight, Cool Rider, Who's That Guy?, Prowlin, Cherades, A Girl For All Seasons, and We'll Be Together). Character wise it's not as good. The dialoge seemed a little more real. The movie was a little more fun, and not as serious, but some of the songs are completely ridiculous (Reproduction, Do It For Our Country). Overall this movie is fun to watch, and it's not as bad as some people think. But, don't even try to compare it to the original (you'll be like : Grease is better no Grease 2 is better!) you'll get confused. You have to watch it more than once. Seriousely, it grows on you a lot. Also it stars Maxwell Caulfield and Michelle Pfieffer. All the cast trys to bring something more to each role than what the script called for with great success. (Personally I think that the use of Frenchy from the first Grease was a very bad idea). Sometimes this movie suffers from sequelitis, which is normal. But, you'll like this movie. I know I did!

Summary: Corny, absolutely corny, but addictive!
Review: First of all, this movie must never, ever be compared to Grease itself. Grease was truly a classic and this is a bubble-gum musical with zero substance to the story or the way it was carried out. Having said that, I have watched it over and over since childhood! I generally fast-forward in between songs and turn it off before the second half gets too far underway. It's great fun to exercise to the music! Concerning the actors, Pfeiffer had to work double time to make the relationship look natural between her and Caulfield--I'm sorry, but I am completely confused about why anyone is a fan of his as an actor(for years I thought he must have been an actual motorcycle stunt man chosen for the role due to his appeal in that category, but I've found no record that this was the case--someone please enlighten me, why do some people love him?) Pfeiffer was great, not a great singer but pleasant enough, but always a great actress despite the ridiculous role. Adrian Zmed was wonderful as well for the role he played (just avoid thinking of him as competing with Travolta--apples and oranges). He moves very well (very well!) and he made the role fun! Lorna Luft ("Paulette") was a great supporting actress, but the rest of them, individually, rather bored me. Together as a group, however, they were all 'cutesy' teen types from some other planet. So to sum up, Pfeiffer, Zmed, and Luft are great to watch again and again just to marvel at how "natural" their movements/responses are in such an absurd environment, the dance scenes are just fun, the play between the characters during the more upbeat songs is enjoyable to observe, and I could swear that two of the "extras" are Wynona Judd and some kin of Patrick Swayze (both have very small singing solos)! Anybody have any information about that? Oh, Zmed's sidekick, Christopher McDonald ("Goose") was fun to watch as he's been a serious guy in so many films since!

Summary: Well, It's Grease *2*....
Review: You know how sequels mostly never live up to their originals well this is true here. Grease 2, a fun film, released in 1982 has one major flaw, imho, and that is- it's missing the "timeless" feeling to it. The music of the original, for the most part, sounded like music from the 50's and 60's. However, in 2 the blaring guitar and punky vocals of "Cool Rider" sound right out of the early eighties as do "Who's That Guy?" and "Turn Back The Hands of Time."

I do want to make it clear that these are not bad songs but they just don't always fit the sixties setting. And the pile of other great songs like "Reproduction" "Score Tonight" and Back To School" are great ensemble pieces.

So, putting aside that you can't top the orignal (so why try?)Grease 2 is quite a good time. Adrian Zmed is great in this film. Cracks me up and puts on a great performance as head of the T-Birds. Michelle Pfeiffer does great, not only acting, despite some bad dialogue, but also singing her own stuff quite well. Maxwell Caulfield plays a stiffy brit longing for Pfeiffer's Stephanie and he plays it fairly stiffly AND I won't even mention his singing since enough fans exist I could be mamed for life. The supporting cast too is quite good and they fill in the other parts GREATLY.

So give it a chance, put any preconceived notions aside, and you might enjoy it.

Summary: Don't look at it as a sequel!
Review: OK, I've seen some really bad reviews about this movie, and I have to say that it's not really fair. Yes, this is definitely not as good as the original, but if you don't look at it as a SEQUEL to a MUSICAL, you MAY or MAY NOT find it better. Everyone has their own opinion, and mine is that this movie is really not that bad. I would have to say mediocre. True, it is a bit on the corny side and some of the songs are just ridiculous (Reproduction and Let's do it for our Country), but who can honestly say that 'Grease' was a perfect movie. It is a chessy movie as well. Reviewers all over are saying that the acting, the lighting, the sound, and so on in Grease 2 are terrible, but honestly, in my opinion, all parts were pretty much on the same level as the original. The plot was decent, the dancing was a bit overdone, and SOME of the acting was done well. Though I write all these things defending the movie, the MAIN reason why I like it is because of the one and only MAXWELL CAULFIELD. Not to sound crude, but damn that guy was hot!! He had such perfect features, but it's his eyes that make me melt. His acting and singing were fair, but who could ever say a bad thing about an adorable hunk like that. The best part about Grease 2 is that it introduced me to a hunky young MAXWELL CAULFIELD. THough he doesn't look that good anymore, there is still Grease 2 and The Colbys on Soapnet where I can see him when he truly was perfect. As for the movie overall, if you like, good for you, if you don't like it, okay. Just watch it with an open mind, and just for 2.5 hours, forget there ever was a 'Grease' and watch it as an individual movie. Trust me, most people will find it an OKAY movie ***

Summary: A musical with no good music..
Review: This movie is not so far below the original on a dramatic level. And the dance sequences often surpass those in the original film for complexity and ambition, especially the opening one. Yes, it's a contrived Juvie D. romance about a straight-laced character trying to connect with a rougher edged hipster, but so was the original. Yes, the 'comedy' seems forced and added on, but that was true in the original too. Simply put, the original was a pretty weak, contrived lightweight of a movie. That is, when nobody was singing. The sequel -call it Grease 2: The Next Class, or Frenchy Gets a Two Picture Deal - is even more contrived and weighs less, despite a knowing, sharp edged performance by Michelle Pfeiffer (the only reason this thing still exists on video). But success or failure for any musical depends on ... drum roll ... THE MUSIC! Even the second rank stuff in the first picture (eg. Stranded at the Drive-in) is pretty tuneful and memorable. The songs in the sequel are so bad ("...Let's Bowl, Let's Bowl, Let's Rock and Roll!..." that they are improved by watching with the sound off. Even the show-stopper at the end sung by Michelle is pretty worthless, and it is the only number other than the opener that can be heard without suffering intelligence loss. The original was a huge hit and the sequel bombed. The soundtrack from the original was a huge hit spawning several top 40 radio hits. Nobody bought and no radio station played ANYTHING from the sequel. See a pattern?

Summary: "Grease" is the word again!
Review: Yes,"grease" is the word again in GREASE 2. I could tell you why the sequel to 1978's highest-grossing film was disappointing. There's an entirely new senior class, set in 1961,two years after the original Grease gang graduated from Rydell High School. That means this class were sophomores during the original Grease era, unseen of course. This was Michelle Pfeiffer's first starring film. She appears opposite Maxwell Caufield,a foreign exchange student from Australia who becomes a T-Bird. Pfeiffer,is a Pink Lady of course. Those who returned for the sequel are Didi Conn as Frenchy who had dropped out and come back to repeat the 12th grade. Eve Arden as Rydell High's principal and Sid Caesar as the phys. ed. instructor. One memorable scene is the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies at a bowling alley singing,"We're gonna score tonight!"(sorry,I don't know the song title). Pfeiffer contributes her singing vocals to the soundtrack album on COOL RIDER. Another reason why this film flopped:it didn't even feature a reprise of GREASE,the theme song from the first film, performed by Frankie Valli and written by ex-Bee Gee Barry Gibb. The soundtrack was enitirely original. Imagine John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John,the stars of the first film, paying a visit to Rydell High in this film. This film could have gotten mixed reviews by the critics if that had happened. Since this film wasn't so great, there were no more sequels.

Summary: Addictive
Review: OK, so the movie is full of cornball stereotypes- gorgeous nerdy foreign dude, gorgeous aloof leader of girly clique, self-absorbed gorgeous leader of pseudo-tough motorcycle gang, and the King of Nerds (What would an 80's movie be without the King of Nerds himself- Eddie Deezen!). But so what? The plot is actually pretty decent. The songs are fun to sing along with, thankfully Michelle Pfeiffer and Adrian Zmed's singing talents make up for Maxwell Caulfield's lack of same ("Charades" is skip-worthy). It's fun, campy, almost tongue-in-cheek. And of course, at the end, Stephanie realizes that one CAN be a cool rider, and a Shakespeare buff at the same time.

Summary: I laughed so hard, I almost cried.
Review: Quite possibly the WORST film ever made. EVER! Michelle P. is surprisingly good given the overall stupidity of the script and music. But she alone cannot save this movie. The few redeeming qualities of this film are that it IS hysterical in a campy, "what were they thinking" kind of way. Also, a humorous blast from the past if you are over 25. I was about 12 when this came out in theaters. I was so excited given that I was a Sandy and Danny groupie back in elementary school. I even bought the soundtrack immediately after watching the movie. Looking at it years later I have to ask, "What was I thinking??" No comparison to the original Grease, a true classic. But, in some strange way the complete idiocy of the sequel almost makes it charming. Almost
