Summary: Not Sandlers best but still OK
Review: As much as I like Adam this isn't his best. It has funny parts from Rob Schnieder, The Fonz and other stars of medium fame. His little accent got a little annoying though and Sandler wasn't the funniest part. 4 stars

Summary: This is one of Adam Sandler's best movies.
Review: The Waterboy is a movie that doesn't require a lot of brain power to figure out, but it's loaded with comedy and hilarious lines from Adam Sandler. One particular part of the movie that I love is when he is in a college class dealing with the agression center of animals and Bobby is asked why alligators are such aggressive creatures. Since his Mama was supposedly right about everything, his answer was "Mama says that alligators are angry 'cause they got all those teeth and no toothbrush." That's comedy, man! Simple comedy, maybe, but it's funny all the same! This is definitely a must-have for any Adam Sandler fan. If you don't like Adam Sandler, then you're not going to like this movie. End of story.

Summary: Excellent movie
Review: Am giving the DVD a 3 stars. The picture is not that nice and there's no features. How about releasing a Special edition. It's been a while that it came out. Touchstone pictures come on.

Summary: Waterboy almost a high watermark
Review: While it doesn't equal the twin masterpieces Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, Waterboy is still Sandler's third best film. Also good were The Wedding Singer and Little Nicky. But he blows hot and cold, and I don't just mean hiding his comic talent behind action movies like the okay Bulletproof or behind voiceovers for the boring Eight Crazy Nights animation. His other flicks just all out stink - 40 Dates In 40 Days and Big Daddy. In fact, Big Daddy (a blatant ripoff of the already crappy Dutch) is one of the worst films I've seen ANYBODY do.

But getting back to Waterboy, this thing is great. And Faruza Balk is unbelievably hot in this. In fact, she's so attractive and steamy that she steals every scene she's in. That would be distracting in a drama, but in a comedy it's a forgiveable sin. I mean it's not like she's the DEVIL or anything!

As an added bonus, the music throughout this movie is also fantastic!

Summary: Laughs That You Don't Grow Tired Of
Review: To this day, this is still my favorite Adam Sandler movie. Here we find him playing the misfit in a comedic analogue to "Rudy". Kathy Bates gives a great performance of the Southern Louisiana Cajun sterotype. There are many quotable lines such as, "You can do it!" and "Mama says that alligators are ornery because they got all them teeth and no toothbrush." It follows the standard formula, if you will, of most Adam Sandler movies: The plot moves along the happy path for about 2/3 of the movie. Then there is a crisis followed by resolution and a happy ending. It's not rocket science, but it works well.

Summary: The story of an Aquatic Engineer
Review: My first point that I need to make about this movie is that the Waterboy separates Adam Sandler from other comedians. Often I hear that Adam Sandler is the same character in all his movies, and to some point, that is true. Look at this list of movies: Air Heads, Billy Madison, Going Overboard, Big Daddy, 50 First Dates, The Wedding Singer, Happy Gilmore, Anger Management, and Mr. Deeds; in all these movies, Adam Sandler plays virtually the same character.

Now I won't mention Punch Drunk Love, which is a fantastic movie for true movie lovers (plot, story, conflict, and resolve), but not for the people who love this genre of movie. There are two movies Adam Sandler goes out on a limb and becomes a completely different character: the Waterboy and Little Nicky.

The Waterboy is fantastic. I say he separates himself from other comedians in this role the same way Tom Hanks in Forest Gump and Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man separates themselves from other actors. Now I am not saying Adam Sandler isn't an actor, he displays his true talents in Punch Drunk love, but he is a comedian first.

Kathy Bates, who plays a hillbilly southern mom to comedic perfection and Henry Winkler, who plays a sissy/feminine football coach w/a cunning comedic performance also turn in great costarring performances. Clinton Howard and Rob Schneider also make cameos that though brief, really add to the movie. Fairuza Balk also turns in a nice performance as the Waterboys astrologist girl friend.

Overall, a top 3 Adam Sandler movie, a must have in your DVD collection.
