Summary: Horrendous DVD!!
Review: This instructor is rhythmically-challenged and unbearably obnoxious. His steps managed to be both boring and off beat. The production quality is laughable and clearly the work of amateurs. I've been a step instructor for 10 years and this is absolutely, hands-down, the worst video/DVD I have ever viewed. I actually thought it was a joke. His demeanor is so annoying and inappropriate, it's like viewing a satire of a fitness instructor. Although I've made numerous purchases, I have never commented on any video/DVD before. This was so BAD I had to. In fact, I intend to write Mr. Harris a letter.

Summary: Not value for money
Review: I also reviewed Vol 3. of this series and sadly the same BAD points apply. What's worse is Vol. 4 is almost identical to Vol. 3! Exact same 'how to step' 14 min intro and same 40 min workout - even the majority of the moves are the same so I am at a loss to know why it is titled 'Advanced Step'?
Again, for the price you would expect a programmable dvd with professional camera work and participants - this looks like a back-yard effort done on the cheap.
If I could return these I would, but sadly I opened and played them - don't waste your money!

Summary: THE WORST STEP DVD EVER!
Review: Absolutely the worst...I wouldn't even give this one star. TOTALLY ALL BASIC MOVES. I got so sick of the basic step...HELLO? Can we have another move please??

Save your $18.00 and get a gym membership you will get a much better class with better moves.

Summary: Absolute Waste
Review: I wish I had read the reviews before I opened this DVD. At the beginning of the workout I was laughing... I thought it was a joke. But by the end I wanted to cry because I wasted my money. The moves are repetetive and boring. The filming is awful. Camera zooms in on participants faces or other body parts that should not be shown! While Alan is upbeat and energetic, it is sometimes difficult to understand what he is shouting. There is a brief segment at the end of the workout where he turns up the intensity. But just as I started breaking a sweat, the workout was done...without a cooldown segment! Do not buy this DVD...I'll give you mine!

Summary: A Great Motivator for a Great Workout
Review: I have taken Alan's step aerobics and weight training classes for a number of years. The step classes are simple but get your heart rate up quickly. At the end of the class you have sweated a ton. Then continue on with his weight training class and you have lost a few pounds in one day. Alan is an excellent instructor and a great motivator. The video is great!

Summary: A SERIOUS CARDIO WORKOUT
Review: I have regularly taken Alan's class in person for over a year, and I can honestly say that I have never received a more intense workout in a step aerobics class. Alan takes this format to a different level. Other instructors that I have had (and I have had many)seem to concentrate on "advanced" moves at a more moderate pace. Alan's class is more about "basic" moves at a lightning pace. He is a highly motivated professional athlete and his extraordinary energy level and attitude keep the class(and you) moving. If your goal is to burn fat - to reach a moderately high target heart rate and keep it there- I would highly recommend this workout.

Summary: Serious workout
Review: I have taken Alan's classes in-person. This is not a beginners step class. Alan is a serious fitness expert, no nonsense, and sets a very fast pace. If you want a challenging, basic, straight forward workout, this is the guy for you.
Alan is very motivating, the pace is fast, you can think of nothing but breathing, listening and moving...you won't be sorry if you stick with him!

Summary: Want a good workout? Work with Allan Harris
Review: I must say i have worked with Alan Harris before and he has helped me drop 25 pounds. His tapes and workouts are for serious people only. if you are not really serious about losing weight or doing a serious work out this tape is not for you. This tape is for people who are serious about getting their body in shape, being healthy and control. I defintely recommend this tape.

Summary: A little too much Alan
Review: Overall I did get a decent sweat out of this video, but I have to say I really just wanted to tell Alan to shut up! Some of the camera angles made it difficult to see which foot and which step were coming up next. You see one cameraperson more than I would like and it is distracting. Pretty good step workout, more basic steps than advanced, but the pace is quicker.

Summary: Advanced Step Workout by Alan Harris
Review: I read the previous consumer reviews, but unfortunately it was only after I had purchased the DVD. I think this was an ABSOLUTE rip off! What in the world is so advanced about this work out? I feel that this was totally false advertising. The instructor was obnoxious. I would not recommend this video to a beginner they would be totally confused. The worse part is I just received the DVD today and watched it and I'll be damned if I dont get my money back.
