Summary: Martial arts and horror go together like horse and carriage.
Review: Blood is without a doubt worth watching. It's dark and violent atmosphere is down to the realistic backdrops, amazing character designs and the chilling plot. It's a horror/action movie that doesn't really scare you, it intrigues you. It makes you wanna see more violence and action...Sadly there are some problems, movie only goes on for like, 45mins, that's half of the average movie standard. I don't know why they didn't go any further with the plot because there was so much more to be explained. Also, there's a few minor things in the plot I'm not sure about such as - is Saya Japenese or not? How does she look so young when she's about 100 years old? And wassup with Linda and her mate when they transformed, were their bodies hijacked by demons or are they demons in disguise? Who knows....Who cares!!! It's a great movie, so go see it!

Summary: Great short, stop looking for Kafka in it
Review: Blood the Last Vampire is all about style and action. I don't know why people down it so much. If you watch it look for something complicated or complex, you'll probably be disappointed. But that's not what it's about. Go for Akira or Lain or Arthur C. Clarke if you're after that. Blood is a short, very good-looking cell-shaded film about a kick ... vampire girl who kills vampire-like demons. The only real character is the lead, Saya. She is the sullen and withdrawn type, so don't expect "characer development," as it would spoil her mystery. Blood does come across as a first episode, so I hope there are more chapters ahead to continue chronicling her battles. And I hope they are also short and sweet, like this one.

Summary: very cool.
Review: This movie is totally sweet. It's short, but if you just think about the amount of work put into this, you won't really care much. It's just a good short film, that's all.

Anyways, sweet, well done action scenes, with the coolest character EVER to boost. Nice stuff.

Summary: Huge potential, marginal execution
Review: As others have noticed, this production has its strengths and weaknesses. In addition to it's short length (realistically, it should have been about three times as long), it is pretty much devoid of any character development. The characters are pretty much just there - we really have no insight into their personalities aside from what is obvious through their actions. This is partly due to the pacing of the movie (very fast), partly due to the length of it (very short) and partly due to the fact that there doesn't seem to be any apparent effort by the makers to even attempt character development.

Additionally, there seem to be about a million loose ends at the end of the 45 minutes. You start wondering a lot of things during the movie about the background of certain characters, the setting, etc, but ultimately these things aren't answered. Not even close - about all we can do at the end is speculate and hope that some manner of sequel is in the works (seems unlikely, though).

That said, however, I still feel that it has redeeming qualities that make it worthy of a view or two. First, as others have noted, is the quality of the animation. It's simply amazing. I was struck in particular by the incredible attention paid to lighting effects and textures. It appeared to be a mix of computer and hand animation, and sometimes the mixture seemed a little incongruous (the two stood out too clearly from one another), but overall the combination of techniques seemed to work out quite well. Additionally, the choice of angles was very well done. As with other good productions, there's a cinematic feel to it; something I've always loved about good anime that seems to make it far more akin to western filmmaking than to western animation, which continues to maintain the unfortunate appearance of being a rather obvious outgrowth of late 19th-century storybook illustration.

But I digress. My honest recommendation would be to rent or borrow this DVD if you can prior to purchasing, as opinions of it are widely varied and obviously not everyone will like it. I bought it, based on its merits, and feel it was a good buy to make. I would have given it three-and-a-half stars, but unfortunately the option to do so does not exist. Not quite four star material, but again I still feel it's worth watching, if only for the excellent quality of the production.

Summary: great action, needs to be a lot longer
Review: the best part of this movie is the action. lots of blood and gore, swors, vampires and vampire hunters, its a grat movie. the only bummer about it is the leangth of the movie. it ended to soon and left the viewers confused. i dont know about you but i think they could have had a little more info about the main carecters job and who she works for. anotherthing is, what is she? is the girl a vampire of a human? and what is an origional? aperently the directer left out some key parts in this film. other than that it was a good movie.

Summary: if they'd finished it, it would've been awesome
Review: I was really into this movie. The animation was incredible, and the plot was intriguing. As soon as the first act ended, and the film had an intermission in the action, I was excited to see what was next. Unfortunately, what was next was the credits. The movie was just too short. The breakneck speed of the movie probably made it seem shorter, but still, come on. I've seen episodes of 90210 that are longer than this film. Hopefully, though, there will be a sequel that will expound on the interesting plot elements that were left hanging.

Summary: good but too short
Review: I just finished watching "Blood: The Last Vampire" and it suprised me. It was alot better then I expected. It's basically about a girl who works for the american government, or something along those lines, hunting down vampires in Japan. The animation is really good and there's alot of action. The storyline is good but underdevloped. The only thing I didn't like was that it's just to short. I think if it was like 20 minutes longer it would have been so much better. Overall it's a good film. If you can rent it trust me you should, it's well worth watching.

Summary: Stunning!!
Review: The animation/CGI in this film is amazing! Freeze practically any frame and it's a work of art. Other reviewers fault this movie for being too short, with a running time around forty-five minutes. I think the length works in the favor of this movie...it never gets boring. This movie is well worth the money, even though it's short for a feature film. This is likely one movie I will watch again and again.

Summary: Blood: The last 50 min of vampire history
Review: This movie was a definate work of art. Though the movie was short. The characters though dry seemed realistic. The most interesting part about the characters was their lips. This is a characteristic I havent seen in a newer anime only older ones. The plot is simple: Pure blood vampire seeks to rid the world of her half/ciblings with the help of the American government. I gave this a 3 because of the movie length and my complete shock when It ended and I was left mouth agape. Thats it?!?
