Summary: A BIG IMPROVEMENT OVER MEER TECH TRICKS: IT'S ART!
Review: So much of anime today is praised for its more/sharper detail.
So much of BLOOD is a big artful leap forward. It's like an independant film maker's pushing of the style envelope, with sophisticated surprises/graphic innovations in every frame. There are fewer graphic cliches in BLOOD than any anime I've seen.

Sure, the sharp detail is there; but the composition and visual flow seem years' ahead of the anime pack. Oh, and its surround audio track is supurb - very separated/articulated. Hope more like this follow!

Summary: Enough Blood to Substitue for the time!
Review: I thought this movie was actually very good. It had a great story with some pretty vicious demons and gerat animation to top it.
The main character, the last vampire on earth, is given a mission to kill these certain demons that have gotten its way into an American Army base in Japan. It's cool to find out they are disguised as teenage students becuase who would have thought? When the blood-shed finally comes, it really comes! She literally slaughters one demon, but only cut the arm of the other. On her quest to find the last one during the annual Halloween party, she finds herself accompinied by the school nurse. When they finally locate the demon, they are trapped inside a large garage. When they realize that the demon has escaped, they discover that the demon can fly, and fly away while attached to a large cargo plane. Luckily, her partner helps her kill the final evil.
When the nurse is left to explain why she was passed out in the middle of a garage, she trys to explain that a young girl had lead her there to kill strange creatures, but where ever there was blood shed, it had been cleaned up by the ones who accompinied the young woman.
My only problem with the movie was that it had a lot of potential to be a very cool anime movie, but only lasted one day in the movie, which means that the movie is only 45 minutes long.

Summary: Eh, I've seen worse
Review: Like everyone else I was dissapointed that it wasn't longer. Of course, due to my dyslexia I thought It was 84 instead of 48. but anyway, I must say that it was entertaing. If they had stretched it out to 2 hours I'd would have said better than Akira. Ok, blaspahmy but really, its very integing.

Summary: Falls short of the effort
Review: I rented this anime, due to the fair to poor ratings other reviewers gave this DVD and I'm glad I did. The production values and artwork are excellent, but a movie they do not make.

The story line always left you wondering whats going on and why. You learn toward the end of the movie (sort of) who the characters are, but not why they are. You learn that they're hunting demons, a weak reference is made to their affilliation with some governmental agency.

The movie begins by placing the viewer somewhere in the middle of a story already in progress, but when it reaches the end, there really isn't an end. The movie leaves you to fill in the holes yourself.

If you enjoy this genre of anime, I highly recommend the book this movie is based: Blood The Last Vampire 2002 by Benkyo Tamaoki, available through Amazon.com at a great price.

Summary: ups and downs....
Review: When I went to a movie store one night I decided to rent Blood ( me being a HUGE anime and horror buff) When i got home and started to watch it I realized that the animation was not like any other I have ever seen. It was amazing, especially to add computer graphics into it. I just loved that art work. But the bad part about this movie was the story behind it. I understood everything else (except for the ending) but I wanted to know how she came to become a vampire, how the main character Siya became upon this little group, ect. There was absolutley no story behind it. The reason I give this 4 stars insted of 3 is bacause it didnt make me bored I happened to REALLY enjoy the action of this film. I just couldnt take my eyes away from the screen. So overall this is a good film! I would suggest you rent it and watch it first before you decide to but it! :)

Summary: Hiding in the Shadows
Review: In 1966, the Yokota Air Force Base in Japan is busy with the tense job of supporting the U.S. war effort in Viet Nam. Suddenly, in the surrounding town, several suspicious suicides have been reported and students at the base school are behaving strangely. Enter Saya, a mysterious swordswoman who works for a secret organization dedicated to hunting down Chiropterans - demons who subsist on human blood and are the basis for our legends of vampires. All we know is that Saya is 'The Last Remaining Original' and that her powers are considerable.

Disguised as a schoolgirl, Saya investigates the school and discovers the presence of three of the horrific creatures. In the middle of the school Halloween party, Saya desperately tries to hunt them down and kill them before they can escape or enter hibernation. If unchecked, the creatures could endanger not only those at the base, but the entire war effort.

'Blood' is beautifully made, with a careful blend of three-dimensional CGI work and classical anime illustration. This is an experimental approach that, for the most part, works quite well, heightening the viewer's sense of realism. The film gains its noir effect from very skilled use of light and shadow, and has surprising color range for having very little direct light.

Both plot and characters are minimalist in style. Nothing is allowed to interfere with the steady increase in tension and pace of action. Thus, the feature length film seems to run by like a single episode of other anime. Even so, the work is so atmospheric, and Saya so strong a character that it develops surprising levels of meaning. I picked this up expecting a pleasant vampire concoction, and I feel I got much more than that. Worth looking for.

Summary: A credit to the Vampire Anime genre
Review: When I first sat down and watched Blood I had to sit down and watch it again rite away.. Not because it was confusing but, because it was just soo outstanding!

This Anime deals with the last true surviving vampire (a little girl) who works for an underground group that tracks down the "new" era of blood sucking fiends..

With her skills and inhuman powers they help to stop the current rash of killings on a military base...

This DVD is full of extra material that any fan of anime will enjoy.

Summary: It's short, but very sweet.
Review: Plot schmot. Who wants a lot of explaining when you can watch a girl cut her way through demon after demon. Blood is intense and not recommended for your little budding anime fans, but us adults could dig it.

Summary: A beautiful, enjoyable anime movie
Review: Blood - The Last Vampire is a short movie with a runtime of 48 minutes, but it's packed with digitally animated action. If you're looking for some sword-swinging, vampire-killing action, this movie might be for you...but if you're looking for a story, this movie's just too short to have one.

Blood is a movie that let its creators show off their technical abilities. The music and artwork are amazing. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and it looks great. The background music nicely complements the scenes. My only complaint with the audio is that the voices are horrible, whether English or Japanese. The characters seem dull and lifeless.

The main story to Blood is simple and the characters don't develop but I think there may be a hidden story to the movie. Something about the Vietnam War and the American/Japanese relationship. I can't figure it out though so I'm probably missing an important part of the movie.

Recommended for the true anime fan or anyone who wants to watch a short action movie. ...

Summary: good......if you have an open mind
Review: This is honestly a very good movie for being only about 50 min. long.Don't expect an oscar winning script or anything, also the main character is very quiet and says about 10 words, but it seems to fit how she would act, because if you think about it what would you talk about if were 200 years old?Well anyway this is a very pretty film,it looks like cel-shading (those of you who play video games know what i'm talking about)and those weak of stomach do not watch this it is very VERY gorey and graphic.
As i said watch this only if you have an open mind and don't expect something like akira.
