Summary: Fabulous! Couldn't be better
Review: This is one of my all-time favorite movies. Diana and Michael do wonderfully, both dancing and singing. Some fantastically good songs come from this movie, I have the soundtrack. This is an all-around feel good movie, and easily puts me in high spirits. Especially with "Brand New Day". (Everybody Rejoice) This is a movie everyone should see at least once. I have to say good job to everyone on the cast, and the orchestral arrangements are incredible. I have nothing but good things to say for "The Wiz". Go rent this movie.

Summary: The Wiz provides positive messages for minority children!
Review: This movie, though it did not do well in the box office, is EXCELLENT! It provides entertainment, as well as positive, inspiring, and motivational messages to children as it entertains them. My siblings and I grew up with this movie and now their children are watching it everyday. This is an excellent movie for the family and perfect to pass down to generations to come!

Summary: Diana Ross is bad...music is good!!
Review: My summary says it all. Ross isn't up to this task for whatever reason. Michael Jackson music is great but as far as I'm concerned, Mabel King singing "Don't nobody bring me no bad news" is easily worth the rental fee.

Summary: Excellent and very good music & choreography
Review: Michael and Diana do a wonderful performance in this musically talented story!

Michael song "Ease on Down the road" is superb

Summary: The Wiz falls short
Review: You would think that a cast which includes the likes of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Lena Horne and Richard Pryor (not to mention the voices of Roberta Flack and Luther Vandross) would be spectacular. Well, I can say that The Wiz isn't that. Director Sidney Lumet tried too hard to make this an over-the top fantastical journey and it just ended up a flop. Don't get me wrong, the music is fantastic and some performances are exceptional (like Mabel King reprising her role as Evilene, the Wicked Witch of the West from Broadway) but on a whole, there's something that is missing. Diana Ross is horribly miscast and, despite all of her efforts, she is vocally inadequate when compared to, well basically everything else. This is something that everybody should see but it isn't worth money. Split the rental fare with a friend (or two). END

Summary: Better than the orginial Wizard of Oz
Review: I fell in love with this movie as a little girl. The singing and dancing are just wonderful. The costumes are excellent. I am just so sorry that it didn't do better at the box office. If you like the Wizard of Oz, then you will like this movie. It is just great!! I especially recommend it to young people. END

Summary: The WIZ is about BIZ!!
Review: I loved this musical from start to finish. I actually like this one better than the original (Wizard of Oz). The acting is great and the music is phenomenal....and Michael Jackson is so adorable is this film!!

Summary: THE WIZ....HAS SOUL!!!
Review: The Wiz music will always be a classic. This is my only reason for buying this movie. It was definetly a 70's show. I was confused about certain scenes in the movie. For example, why did Aunt Em start singing "The Feeling We Once Had" to her daughter instead of Dorothy. And how did the Scarecrow know to signal Dorothy to destroy Evilene. The choreography and the music was great. Good for children to see!

Summary: BLACK PEOPLE, BUY THIS FOR YOUR KIDS!!!!
Review: A MUST for every black child to see!! This is OUR classic production. Many great actors/actresses were young budding talents when they performed in the Wiz. It's great to see them then & know them now. My kids enjoyed the music & loved the dancing.

Summary: Wiz Script
Review: Being AfricanAmerican I grew up on this movie. Theres barely any of my friends who i know who hasnt seen this movie growing up and didnt like it.
People complian abou the scenery. It was what the 1970s? it was made? That how things looked back then. what do you expect.
People complain bou the way the characters looked. Its an adaption of the original Wizard of Oz to better suit the black community i believe.

I loved that movie when i was 5 and younger and i still love it at the age of 18. And the puppet master in teh subway station still gives me the creeps.

I think the dancing and singing is wonderful in this movie. My fav is when dorothy first gets to Oz. and all the kids come off the walls. and when everyone sings Brand new day. Hell.... i like all the songs... i could sit here forever saying what i liked.

I only disliked Diane Ross as dorothy because of her age. I think she was way to old to play dorothy. But she still did a good job.

I kinda wish they would remake The Wiz Now and have new artist in there. Like Usher for the Tin man. Tamyra Gray as dorothy. That would be great.
