Summary: Great introduction to the alphabet
Review: Our two-year old daughter loves this video. I highly recommend it.

The animation is basic, but it's not the sort of thing little kids care about. The content and educational value are first-rate. It does a great job of introducing all the 26 letters. To keep kids' interest, it mixes in a lot of interesting characters and stories. Our daughter loves the sweet animal characters. It includes the traditional "ABC" song, which is very helpful.

We like that the presentation is low-key, not like some of the loud, frenetically paced stuff you see nowadays. If your kids see a lot of TV, they might have a different reaction than our daughter did to this video. We don't let her watch a lot of video unless it's educational (studies show TV and rapidly changing video images are not healthy for kids' brain development, especially before age 3).

In addition to this video, for learning the alphabet I also recommend the video "Leap Frog - Letter Factory (2003)." It's a regular video - you don't need a LeapPad or anything to view it.

Summary: Great - my son loves it!
Review: This is a great educational DVD; I bought it for my 18 month old son and he loves it. It doesn't have fancy bells and whistles, and looks old fashioned compared to other children's DVDs, but it holds his attention well. It doesn't have songs though, just the alphabet song, so it may not be interesting for children younger than 18 months.

In terms of teaching the alphabet, we also have Sesame St Do The Alphabet, and I prefer the Richard Scarry. The Richard Scarry consistently goes through each letter, with a short, cute, animated segment for each. (The Sesame St is haphazard, covering some letters only.)

The DVD is about 30 minutes, which I think is ideal for maintaining a child's interest.

Summary: best learning songs video ever
Review: This movie is magnificent! I bought it for my newborn son and he has watched it as he has grown. It is the only video that he loves to watch over and over and it is very educational with out the scary plots of other videos on the market. The catchy songs are a pleasure that the whole family enjoys and finds themselves singing. An excellent movie!

Summary: #1 Video for your child's collection...
Review: This video may be the most valuable one you'll ever own. Children ages 2+ are mezmorized by it, but more importantly they learn the alphabet just by watching it. This video taught my three children and countless children from my preschool their alphabet. It is the best alphabet learning tool I've found.

Summary: Best ABC Video Ever ~ Richard Scarry
Review: This video taught both my boys there capital letters prior to the age of 2. I didn't even realize how much they were retaining until they brought me refrigerator magnets or letter shaped bathtub sponges telling me what the letters were. WONDERFUL video, and keeps their attention.

Summary: Looooooooooooved it & still loving it!!
Review: This was a birthday gift for my then 2-year old. He is 6 now and would still watches it with his 18-month old little brother. They would both sing the songs together and shout out the next letter. I bought one for my friend's daughter and she learnt the alphabet just after watching the video a few times. This is a GREAT video. I have also bought all the Richard Scarry Best Ever videos.

Summary: Great ABC intro
Review: What I especially admire about this video is the way it is parcelled into 26 different vignettes (corresponding to each letter) yet retains a leisurely pace. The images and stories are engaging without being assaultive. Another nice thing (true of his other videos too) is the variety of different voices, boys and girls and adults. There is enough in the video to engage kids' and adults' attention through repeated viewings. I would say there's a lot of bang for the buck here. In addition to introducing the ABC's, the notion that learning and going to school is fun is also well-presented. Now whenever my 16-month old sees a schoolbus he becomes very excited because he sees how eager the Busytown students are to get on theirs !
