Summary: Don't expect a typical two minute Barney Lesson...
Review: True Barney fans will be disappointed, but personally I found this movie a little easier to watch than most Barney videos. My baby loves Barney and I love her. So, pass the popcorn on this one.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Enjoyable but sassy pre-teens in the cast
Review: Unlike other Barney videos, this one is a full length feature film, and it features the Purple Dinosaur galavanting around on Grampa's Farm (although the song is not in the movie). There are many elements of this film, including three children who have never been in any other video, which is refreshing.

There is a subplot whereby the young boy has to be convinced that he has an imagination and to use it is virtuous and rewarding. Then there is the appearance of the "magic egg"and what treasure it holds.

Probably the most interesting song in the film was Barney doing his best "Mel Torme"-type rendition if "If all the Raindrops were Gumdrops," and all the patrons joining in on the fun. Then there is B.J. and Baby Bop who make appearances and a few familiar songs.

This video was a little too mature for my two year old twin toddler girls, who love Barney, and maybe as they get older, they might like it. But I've been watching Barney for awhile, and I found some remote interest in this film. I understand that it's not a film for adults, but on its merits, I wouldn't recommend it for the little tykes. It's a little too grown-up for them, and I don't believe what the marketing said that it's the best family movie ever made. That's just not true.

This movie is okay, but it's not your regular Barney video!

Summary: MY TODDLER FINALLY SITS STILL!!!
Review: We bought the DVD to keep our son occupied and entertained on a flight from San Diego to NY several months ago. At the time, he was completely uninterested. I dug out the DVD again last week, and this time he was MESMORIZED... He has watched it over and over and over... LOVES it... talks about the egg and Cody all the time. I never really liked Barney, but now I see how he has finally given me the gift of my life back to me! I can actually have a sensible conversation (among other things) with my husband while our 21 month old son dances, sings, and laughs with Barney in this movie. For my son, the movie is like a drug. For my husband and me, well, let's just say that now we have time to engage in other enjoyable, intimate pursuits!

Summary: We didn't watch it
Review: We gave it five stars because it exists in DVD format (and for that we are amazed), and because we know we are never going to watch it.

Summary: Love it
Review: We love it. It is a great learning experience. It's a regular movie and my 3 year old loves it. We've had to watch it over and over, most every day. We pick out colors, count and experience emotions with the characters in the movie.

Summary: Not Really For Children Under 4
Review: Well....I read the other reviews and was puzzled at accusations of profanity. Where???? I thought it was a good, fun movie. There were some dance scenes, like one in the Bird Lady's treehouse, that were over choreographed to the point of absurdity, but that is something only an adult would roll their eyes at. Most important are the reviews of my 1 and 3 year old. My one year old watched for about 5 minutes and was off doing something else, my 3 year old watched it with quite a bit more interest, but didn't understand the thoughts of the older boy in the movie. I think he will appreciate it more in another year. I think that it's at least worth a rental.

Summary: It'll hold the kid's attention
Review: When my oldest (now 7) was two, this video had just come out and we bought for her. She would watch it OVER AND OVER and beg for more! Trust me, it got really annoying after about the 100th time of them finding that stupid egg!

But she loved it and now her younger siblings do too. I recommend this if you're not easily annoyed by watching the same thing over and over!

The plot is all about Barney finidng and egg and the kids and he go on a journey to find out what it is.

Summary: Barney's Great Adventure is SUPER-DE-DOOPER!
Review: When we took our daughter to see this movie in the theater, I was prepared to be, in a word, bored! However,it turns out I was pleasantly surprised! This movie is a pure delight! Our daughter, (who, at the time, had the attention span of a gnat), was rivetted to the non-stop action on screen, and my husband and I found ourselves enjoying it as well. (As a matter of fact, I never got bored; not once)! In the movie, Barney, along with some kids visiting a farm, discover a mysterious egg. In order for the egg to hatch, they must keep it safe, (and trust me, this egg gets into a lot of hot water)! The movie is jam-packed with bright colorful action shots, suspense, and a story line that's easy enough for a three year old to follow, (and I know this for a fact, because that was my daughter's age when we first saw it)! Now we own the DVD, and my daughter can embark on this excellent great adventure, any time she wants!
