Summary: Wasted Money
Review: This has been my worst purchase since the click and pop machines for the old LP's. Trust me. They are very heavy and not comfortable for any length of time. You have to constantly adjust the transmitter when you change environments. CD to Movies, etc. and this is no small chore. It takes forever. Trust me. I also own the Advent wireless speaker. Only because I didn't want to drill holes in the wall or run wire all over the place. Save your money on the Advent purchase. They are not the same company they once were.

Summary: Wise Choice
Review: I have owned several dozen pairs of headphones in my life, from barely tolerable to excellent. The Advent AW770 are the first set of wireless headphones I've bought. They are by far the best sounding ones I've ever put on my head. I've walked around our house from one end to another and never lost reception. There have been very few times that I would get a small amount of static or interference that quickly went away. Sitting in front of the TV, I feel like I'm in the theater. The 20-20,000khz frequency response makes these headphones rock with powerful bass and crisp highs. I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase.

Summary: don't give up without fiddling!
Review: this is actually a really nice set of wireless headphones! I didn't think so until i read someone's review here! The key is in three things if you don't want any hiss and/or high frequency buzz.
1. as noted elsewhere (thanks) plug it into line out not speakers - the lineout is supposedly a more powerful output (thus needs less amplification and thus less buzz and hiss)
2. turn up your stereo/computer/etc. quite loud - this way the Advent unit does not have to amplify much (and thus less squeel)
3. turn the volume on the headset down considerably. if this is turned up too much it causes hiss and squeel - thats bad! Instead turn up the volume a tiny bit on the base unit (transmitter)'s amplification (but don't turn up too much!)

in a nutshell - try to get a strong signal input in the transmitter and then use very little amplification on the headphones and transmitter!

i enjoy classical music with this without much annoying background hiss/buzz/squeel! now it's not perfect, but i like it alot.

enjoy

Summary: Regular batteries ruined my headphones!
Review: So I put regular Duracell batteries in the headphones, charged it up, and they leaked all over my entertainment center, and gooped up the 'phones! I called the 800 number to ask what had happened, and the rudest person I've ever dealt with answered the phone, and berated me for not reading the instructions. I'm buying another pair, one that uses the kind of batteries I use in every other electronic in my house. Phooey on Advent!

Summary: REALLY annoying hissing in the background
Review: I was very excited to receive these headphones despite the numerous reviews complaining about a hissing in the background. Unnoticable during loud scenes however during dialogue and other scenes where there is not constant sound, the hissing is quite apparent. Might be better just to wait unto they advance wireless headphones into ghz frequencies as they have done with portable phones. They are quite comfortable for the first five minutes yet any longer they are not. They cup the ears and seal all the heat inside making them feel heavy and irritating for extended listening periods (20 minutes+)

Summary: Filled the bill for me
Review: Pros: Being somewhat hearing impaired, these filled the bill. No more enertaining the "neighbors" with the TV volume at excessive levels. I am able to set my volume level while company with normal hearing can use the TV volume to set theirs.
Cons: Performance of the system is directly proportional to the remaining charge on the batteries.
Shortly after receipt, I had to take the control side apart to clean the volume control (excessive static when adjusting). OK at this time.

Review: This is an excellent product. It really receives stereo and sounds great.

Summary: Super Product
Review: These are a great set of headphones. This is my first Advent but I have had others. I use them in the kennel and in the yard and the range is as good as they advertise! It is very important to place the transmitter in a good location as metal objects may degrade the signal. The batteries leave a little to be desired, but I purchased a rapid recharger and 6 batteries and I am never dead. I get at least 10-15 hours on one charge!

Summary: A solid product at an attractive price
Review: My primary motivation for purchasing wireless headphones was to permit me to listen to music or television programming while on my exercise bike at home. Because acoustic isolation was desirable, I preferred a closed cup headphone design that would block much ambient sound. I have been quite pleased with the Advent AW770 headphones. They do, indeed, isolate me from most ambient noise, which is ideal for listening to music or television while exercising--without having to turn the volume up to ear-splitting levels. (Of course, this is highly undesirable if you need to be able to easily hear a baby crying from a distant room in your home.)

My stereo and exercise bike are in my finished basement, and I get acceptable audio quality throughout my house, in spite of having the transmitter below ground level. While the range and audio quality are good, the headphones do crackle from varying signal strength and interference as I walk across the house. There is also a very noticeable--but not unbearable--amount of background hiss from the built-in amplifier. If you listen to pop music, most country, blues, or classic rock, the hiss will not be noticeable most of the time; however, you may find it distracting if you are a classical music fan, as the hiss becomes more conspicuous during quiet passages.

I have been perfectly satisfied with the overall sound quality of the headphones. I ended up choosing to use a monitor output on my stereo receiver, since I found no need to alter the signal (e.g., add bass or otherwise tweak the frequency response). Using a fixed-level audio output is desirable, since you must calibrate the transmitter for the audio source's output level for maximum performace and to avoid distorted sound. This becomes much more difficult if the phones are connected to a TV or stereo headphone jack, which puts out varying amounts of signal. Lest you worry, the product includes nearly every conceivable connector and adaptor cable one could possibly need for virtually any hook-up scenario.

Finally, I have been impressed with battery life. The included rechargeables last 5-6 hours. I know this not from exercising in my basement for 6 hours at a time; rather, I have enjoyed having the headphones and their good sound quality so much that I have been wearing them when I study. Since my exams are this week and the next, I've spent many hours with them clamped over my head!

Summary: By far, The worst product I ever bought
Review: Lets just say I'm using my [inexpensive] generic earbuds because they're much better than the Advent AW770. These things are a joke. I'm constantly adjusting the frequency on both the headphones and the transmitter at the same time, and moments after I get it to an acceptable adjustment, it fades out again to a static, which by the way is very annoying since I'm wearing the headphones and the static is just blasting in my ears! I never got this thing to work. If there were a zero on the scale, I would choose it.
