Summary: Very well written movie..........
Review: However, I did not like the DVD. I was disapointed at the lack of extras in the DVD version. It's just the movie with the wide screen cut. If you don't care about all the extras you could have seen, then pick it up it is better wide screen. I know because, I saw it in the theater and I bought the VHS version.

Summary: i named my car after a character. yes, it's true.
Review: i am a woman from a family with a deep, deep love for the game of baseball. baseball is, in many ways, my patriotism and my religion; it is, to me, how god blessed america.

so now you think i'm a nut. that's okay; i'm fairly resigned to the idea that only cooperstown and w.p. kinsella may really understand what i mean. but i wanted to give a frame of reference for why i love this movie so much.

this movie was a realization of many childhood dreams. when i was 11, i could sock that ball. and it was the best feeling in the world, next to the feel of wet grass in your nose after making a diving outfield catch. but like many girls, baseball is a dream deferred for me. i was relegated to softball, a great game in its own right, but not quite it.

so seeing women play baseball, and bringing to it all the magical realism that i love about the game, gave me a good helping of vicarious pleasure. the film's story also takes place during a particularly nostalgic time in american (and baseball) history; when many of the most legendary players of modern times were sent away to fight in the war. the intersection of history and folklore really won me over here; it's sweet without rotting your teeth.

if you share a deep, abiding love of baseball, family, and magic, this movie will hit you in the sweetest part of the bat.

Summary: Very Good
Review: I enjoyed this movie very much. I is a movie that people of all ages can watch and still love it. The only part that I wasn't wild about was the end. It was a little dissapointing to me, but all in all I really loved this movie!!!

Summary: A touching time capsule, wonderful, balanced entertainment.
Review: I have no great fascination for women's baseball today, and I have even less for some historical rehash. Add Geena Davis, Madonna, Lori Petty and Rosie O'Donnell, none of whom I find overly compelling and you have to pay me (bigtime) to get in front of the screen.

So much for prejudging-- I enjoyed this sweet little film immensely.

Penny Marshall's work has at times been uneven, but she hits a home run here. The movie is well paced, heart-warming, and at 127 minutes does not seem long at all.

Only 3 males in sight, but they're really good ones, David Strathairn, Tom Hanks, and Garry Marshall-cast perfectly as the candy-bar magnate and team owner Walter Harvey.

Beautiful tribute to real-life women pros bookends this storybook tale of women's comaraderie and triumph-a bright spot during the tragedy of wartime.

Summary: Never get tired of it
Review: I have seen this movie many times since its theatrical debut, and I never get tired of it. Quality thruought..writing, acting and musical score. It succeeds in capturing an era not only from a period of American history ...also that period from everyones lives where we all have a playground to shine on. And that Madonna song at the end proves that there IS crying in baseball!

Summary: Modern Day Classic
Review: I just finished watching this film for the umpteenth time and it occured to me how special this film is. Not only did Penny Marshall give us a fun heartfelt sports film, she gave us one of the best movies in the last few decades.

It is a shame that most people just regard it as a feel good sports movie, and not one of the best pictures in recent history. Not a single acadamy award nod was given to this film, which is a great shame for such a wonderful picture.

The casting was dead on from Geena Davis to Madonna, everyone made their part believable, but it is without a doubt that Tom Hanks gave the movie it's brilliance. He is undoubtedly one of the silver screens greatest actors and can portray any part given to him.

The story is based on the real events of a woman's baseball league during WWII. Though not a documentary, it is very realistic and believable.

You get plenty of laughs and cheers, as well as a few tears in this modern day classic.

Definatley one of the 50 best films ever made.

Summary: My Favorite Movie
Review: I love this movie. It's set in world War 2, but it has just enough spice for any modern kid. It's all about baseball, but the jokes, adventures and tricks will keep even those who aren't sports' fans satisfied. This is a great movie for those who always struggle to keep up with a sibling. It tells the story of a young girl striving to be a better baseball player than her sporty beautiful older sister. Her sister is accepted into a new women's league and finally after a little pleading so is she. finally she has found her chance to shine. When you add an unwilling male coach to their unusual mix of a team, The Rockford Peaches you have a group sure to make you laugh. tom Hanks is amazing and as the movie progresses you will sypathize with both sisters. This is a truly funny movie with a great cast and a hilarious script. I reccomend it to anyone looking for a good movie.
