Rating: Summary: NOT GOOD AT ALL!! Review: So much material is left out. I have read many more interesting colored pencil books. My opinion. Fl
Rating: Summary: An Indespensible Book!! Review: This book is a "must-have" for anyone interested in portraits or color pencil art. It covers the application of colors and values better than almost any other book I've read. It also walks you through the full process of creating a color pencil painting as well or better than the other books I've studied. I'm keeping this book within reach because I know I'm going to wear it out cosulting it over and over!!
Rating: Summary: Excellence in a book! Review: This book is a must have for beginning colored pencil artists. It gives you a lot of ideas on how to improve your drawing of people and even pick up a few ideas for other things you may draw. The intro was very nicely done and gives you a great amount of info on what you need to perform. Besides being good for giving you ideas, the drawings inside the book will make your mouth drop open and make you work harder to find that extra little talent you have hidden in you. Go ahead and try it, you won't be disappointed.

Her style of teaching is easy to follow for anyone who is new to colored pencils, and very informative for accomplished artists as well. "Colored Pencil Portraits Step by Step," talks the reader through every step, from explaining the tools necessary, to the technique, and even explains how to handle the business aspect of selling artwork. Rating: Summary: Ann Can Color! Review: This book is awesome to have...it truly is step by step and explains how to "see" color. Giving palattes for different skin tones was very helpful for me. I have been to one of Ann's workshops where she teaches her technique hands on...and although I learned a lot there, I refer to this book frequently for "refreshers".

Rating: Summary: one of the best books I have ever read Review: This book is great for learning to use color pencils, I still find my self referring back to it many times. It dose such a good job on using many tones. I suggest you get this book because it will definitely help you become better at color pencil. There is still some stuff that doesn't seem right in the pictures though she is a great at color pencil I wish I could say the same for her drawing skills, this book is great if you want to learn how to use color pencil, but not so great on drawing. But it's still one you'll need.

Rating: Summary: A Wealth of Information Review: This book is my bible! As a portrait artist who works in colored pencil I find it indispensable. Every aspect of portraiture and using colored pencils is covered from composition, to light source to tools and techniques. It is laid out very logically for the beginner with step by step instructions. The examples are excellent. For the more experienced artist it is a great reference tool for quickly jumping in to check out a particular aspect of your work in progress. On top of all that, it's just plain good reading...and the author's work is outstanding...many beautiful pieces!
