Summary: My Ten Year Old Gobbled It Up!
Review: My ten year old daughter does love to read, but, I've never seen her devour a book like she did this one. She bought the book on a Sunday afternoon, and was finished by Thursday afternoon. All this between school a soccer game and a basketball game. Kudos to Louis Sachar, we'll be buying more of his books right away!

Summary: Very exciting book
Review: My whole class read this book together. We read it last year. I think it is the best book in the world.
This book is about Stanley Yelnats, he gets sent to a detention camp called Camp Green Lake and when he gets there, he finds out that he has to dig for punishment, but then he finds out otherwise.
I enjoyed this book because it has a lot of action, and it has very funny characters.
I hope you get to read Holes.

Summary: Uncover the Holes
Review: Mysteries, suspense, adventure, and humor... it's all inside this book "Holes, winner of the Newberry Medal. This book is interesting and easy to understand. You could figure out what this book is about just by judging it's cover. The story begins with a boy named Stanley Yelnats. It was said that Stanley's family is under a curse, find out how that happened by reading the book. Anyways, lets get back to Stanley, Stanley was walking down the street when a pair of sneakers fell on him and you won't believe what happens next, he gets sent to Camp Green Lake where he met some new friends. Discover a "hole" lot of mysteries.

Summary: Great Great Book
Review: Next to Harry Potter, this is one of the best books i have ever read. Lois Sachar may be one of the best authors. This book never lets you put it down, once you start, you just gotta kknow what happens next. The story is great, good twists and turns, and sometimes it can get confusing but lois did a good job at switching from the present to the past. This book is just great for all ages, great story, great author, great book all together.

This is one of my highest recomended books, i don't think theres many out there that wont enjoy this book.

Summary: A boreing excitement
Review: Normally, if I read a book like this, that wasn't written the way it was I would say. What the heck. And throw it away. I am not one of those girls who would rather read in a chair all day. But this book was amazing! Everyone told me i had to read it and I thought. Yeah Sure, really exciteing. I mean the book is about Stanly digging holes. But I have to admit, there was more to it than that and I recomeneed it to EVERYONE! IT was a real page turner. Ask my friends, in the end I was on fire! I read 38 pages in 15 minutes the end was so good. So to sum it all up Holes is a must for everyone

Summary: Why the fuss?
Review: Now, don't get me wrong. As a schoolteacher, I've loved sharing the odd tales of Louis Sachar with my students. He is one of the few children's authors that I love to read as much as the children do. His sense of humor is impeccable as well as his imagination. That is why I was thrilled to learn that "Holes" had gone on to win several top-notch prizes; the Newbury being the crown jewel.

That was until I read this book. Although wildly inventive, strange, and unpredictable, I found very little to grab hold to really enjoy this story. While the story is complex and the characters steeped in history, it seems to be flawed in the only sense that I never really identified with any of them. They seemed to be too remote, too wild for me to buy into the premise.

I long suspect that awards such as Oscars, Emmys, and Newburys, are given to authors for the span of their career and not always the work that is being honored. If that is the case, Louis Sachar is long deserving of this wonderful recognition. However, I wished he had won the award for one of his brilliant, off the wall "Wayside School" novels.

In this case, "Holes" has too many holes for me to recommend it.
