The entire story is a giant puzzle that you have to put together in your mind. Life is a giant hole so start digging!
Rating: Summary: Three cheers for Sachar! Review: Once again Louis Sachar has written a winner! This is one of his best for sure. I am an elementary school teacher and am thrilled to find a book that boys will enjoy as well as girls. There is humor, adventure, yet real life applications for those who care to think of them. Keep writing Sachar!
Rating: Summary: No Holes in this book Review: Once I picked up Holes by Louis Sachar, I couldn't put it down. Throughout the book are flashbacks that connect Stanley's great-great-grandfather to the events that are happening to Stanley now. I didn't realize until the last chapter how a promise made by a by a past relative was carried out by a future one. It's amazing how all of the intricate details worked out for the best.
Rating: Summary: This book was my favorite! Review: Once I started this book I could not put it down! I call it incredible

Rating: Summary: the best! Review: One day a pair of tennis shoes fell out of the sky onto Stanley's head. His father is trying to invent a used for old shoes to new pair of shoes so, Stanley was on his way to bring the shoes home. But he is accused of stealing the shoes that had been donated by a famous baseball player. He was in a wrong place at the wrong time. So he is sent to Camp Green Lake, a deserted place. Camp Green Lake use to be a biggest lake in Texas 100 years ago. Now, it¡¯s dried up and never rains. At the camp, the boys are forced to dig holes, five feet wide and five feet deep. There are many other boys at the camp. All with nicknames like Zigzag, Magnet, X-ray, Armpit, Zero, and Squid and gets one of his own: Cavemen. Zero is Stanley¡¯s very first friend. Zero¡¯s real name is Hector. Hector Zeroni. Hector is called Zero because everybody thought he¡¯s nobody. People think he¡¯s stupid because he didn¡¯t know how to read and write. One day, Zero runs away from the camp. That day, when the water truck came, Stanley ran away to look for Zero. Will Stanley be able to find Zero in the desert? The answer is yes. Stanley finds Zero half dead and he had found a sack of slated sunflower seeds so they get some energy. With a lot of hope, they headed towards the big thumb. It was a mountain that looks like a thumb. They believed if they climb at the top of the mountain, they will find some water if they don¡¯t fall off or starve to death. To find out what happens next, read the book!
Rating: Summary: Closely interwoven plot indeed! Review: One of the "big name" reviews on this site says that the plot is "closely interwoven." What a great line, and so very true about this marvelous book. Every single detail that you come across ties into the plot, which is wonderful. This is a better read than many of the "grown up" books that our world expects us big people to read. If all of Louis Sachar's work is this great, I am going to have a lot of his books before too long. (I did read "There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom" which I also enjoyed very much.) This is a masterpiece by a very talented, funny, and clever writer. READ THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: HOLES IS A MUST READ! Review: One of the best books I have read in the past year would have to be Holes by Louis sachar. It is a marvelous book which tells about a boy who goes to a camp called Camp Green Lake. They have to dig holes everyday as a punishment. One of the reasons I enjoyed this book this is because it tells about daily life, and how you need to try not to get in a lot of trouble because as they say in the real world "you do the crime you have to pay the time". A second reason I found this book so interesting is because the same boy who gets sent to camp meets a boy who did the crime that a different did. So in other words the boy was framed. My favorite part of this book, which I love so much is when both of the boys decide to run away together, and they have to onions in order to survive for the rest of the time being. So as you can see Holes by Louis Sachar is my favorite book.
